2 miles (inside!) today. Abso-bl00dy-lutely no chance of me running outside in this weather! It's flipping freeeeeeezing! Extra exercise this week end though as I am planning on testing the childrens sledge several times to make sure it is safe before I let them on itBe the change you want to see in the world - Gandhi

I've been commuting to work by pushbike because it's been so cold, that's about 10miles a day plus two runs. Have two matches on Sunday and have to cycle there too so not doing anything else this week.
Well done on your run LittleMissHappy!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
I have run 3 times this week and the first 2 went really well and the long run tonight not so well. I think it was because it was soooooo cold out there. The first time I've had to keep my gloves on and I could feel the temperature drop.
Ran slowly and cut it short by a mile or so and kept stopping because I needed to which I don't usually need to so I'm sure this was the very cold night too. Anyway its done and that might be it for this week as it looks like a lot of snow is arriving tomorrow.
Good on all of us for keeping it going this week! I'm counting tonights run as a plod and tickover in the winter weatherfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Hi all
You seem like a lovely bunch, may I join you?
I've got my place confirmed in the Great North Run - my first ever half marathon, gulp!
I've always kept myself in shape but I'm definitely not a natural runner. Have started to build myself up on the treadmill since December and as soon as the days get a little longer I will be pounding the pavements. Really looking forward to it!
Will hopefully receive lots of inspiration from this thread. I've spent all week catching up on all the posts and one thing really stands out....you all suffer so badly with colds!! I haven't had a cold on about 3 years and I'm worried if I start running I'll suddenly fall ill all the time!
Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.0 -

Hi Thrifty85!
It's probably just me. I had the most horrendous year for colds last year, must of had 9/10 times. I've had sniffles and sneezes this year as well but haven't felt bad so am determined not to succumb to a cold this year!
Just keep running, you'll be fine!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -
Thank you for the warm welcome!
It was probably because I read about two years' worth of posts and it just seemed to read the word 'cold' or 'feeling under the weather' every other page! I'm sure all will be well.
Can't start training today (am off out rock climbing!) but at least some form of excerise will be done. I've spent the last month or two working on improving my core so hopefully I'll notice the benefit when I start running properly.
I've got some reasonable trainers and a decent sports bra (hoping to go for a proper gait analysis next month on payday and will get some decent trainers). So it looks as if I'm all ready to go. But one question I have is do you all have the garmin watch thingies?! You all seem to know exactly how far you've gone, how many miles per hour etc. Unfortunately I don't think funds will allow for that yet :-(.0 -
Hi again Thrifty85
I don't have a Garmin I normally use a treadmill so that gives me the info but if I run outside (:o) I use mapmyrun.co.uk to see how far I have run and I divide the time taken by the miles run so I have a rough idea of mins per mile. Not perfect but fine for me

Hi Thrifty.
I bet you already have a pretty good core if you do climbing.
I don't have a garmin either, I use a gps on my mobile or use walkjogrun to check my route or use the routes I've already done.
Edit: would love to have a garmin though!DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0
