Ok, I have been avoiding this thread as I still haven't gone n the dreaded run outside  I am such a big baby! Seriously, I don't know what I think people are going to do to me if they see me running :o Anyway, just so you know I am still following the thread and I will be getting that run in. Outside. Or maybe on the treadmill. Well, as long as it's a run it doesn't matter where it is :D

People don't think anything of it - it's what we think about it. When I started I felt really conscious and silly then after the first run I thought so what if people think I look silly at least I'm doing something to get fit and since then haven't thought anything more about it. After all keeping active is more important than worrying what people think or probably don't think.

Take a deep breath and give it a go - you never know you might like it out there!

On a different note - a 6 mile 60 min run for me this evening - nice a steady to begin with and quicker on the second half :D

  • I am going to fedupandskint, might just build myself back up on the treadmill for a couple of weeks first, at least until I know I can run for 20 minutes without collapsing in a big heap ;) i miss the days when I was running 6 miles a day :( Well done x

  • Hi all I never knew there was a running thread on MSE! I've been running for years and to be honest I've reigned it in from the highs and excesses of a few years ago. This year will be the first where I've started off the year not training for marathons, I did the Shifnal 10K this morning an XC race , a long way from here but I did it the first time it was ran last year and it was great so went back for more.

It was so windy you didn't notice the muddy fields , it was a battle against the wind!

At the end they gave out those neck warmer things you can wear as a hat - snoods or somesuch. Good stuff.

Next week there is the Shifnal Gallop 10K which is great too!

Nice to see you on the thred morethanconcerned!

Agree with fedupandskint LHM - just get out there and run,no one's gonna think anything about it, some might even be jealous!

Well done on your run fedupandskint! Can't wait till I get up to 6miles again.

But I have gotten my mojo back! :) After Friday's run, we walked to and from Cribbs on Saturday, about 6miles, then went for a swim on Sunday (winterswim 800m and front crawl practise for 40mins). Today, I've been on 2.9mi lunchtime run and it felt good. Flat so bit faster which was nice for a change. Feeling good!

  • Well, got on the treadmill today and even though I haven't been for run run for ages (November?) I did do 20 minutes so no excuses now :) I am pleased I didn't have to build up to it but now I have to do it! I'm not running tomorrow so it will be Wednesday daytime (I will take my dog as well some gets out for a run to!) I will report back as soon as I have done it :D

Thanks for the support fedupandskint and tirlittan x Good luck with doing 5 days this week fedupandskint and great that you are back on form tirlittan :)

Hello Morethanconcerned and nice to see the mojo is back for LMH and tirlittan!

As for me a short quickish (in my head!) run of 40mins tonight of around 3.5 - 4 miles. Day off tomorrow and hoping to go back out again on Wed

  • Went for a 22 minute run today (on the treadmill :o). I had already taken the dog for a 45 minute walk so I've had lots of exercise today :D I may run tomorrow too as I have a weigh in on a Thursday and for some reason, in my head, it makes a difference!
Off to have a shower before I pick the littlies up from school :) Happy running x
