    Hi Ellie

Yes hopefully October will be better, trying not too do much and go out really boring though back to work Monday.

Any luck with the job hunting?

    Jackiexxx

No luck yet but it's early days, have spoken to a couple of ex-colleagues so keeping my fingers crossed that something turns up. I'm not panicking yet as I have 6 months salary to keep us going.

I'm sure October will be better for you, no school uniform etc. to pay for.

    Take care

Hi there, I hope you dont mind me gatecrashing.

We are only just starting on this journey. Both my hubby and I are fed up of robbing peter to pay paul, and certain financial institutions are just not helping.

Although this is horrible, seeing everything in print, I feel like a huge weight is starting to lift - and feel that we are finally tackling this in a positive way.

I know that we have a long journey ahead, and that the next couple of months are gonna be horrid, but both my hubby and I have a united front and will get each other through it.

I have found this forum a massive help - its great to hear of other experiences and realising we are not alone.

Bye for now peeps, back to sorting all the account info again.

    Hi Michelle,

It is a huge step going onto a DMP but as Jackie says it has not been as bad as we first thought. We too have had phone calls and letters but these have died down now that payments have gone to CCCS. Some of our creditors have frozen interest whilst others have said that we are not paying enough. I'm so glad that I've taken this step and it was worth going through the first few weeks, I'm a little behind Jackie so have only made 1 payment so far but it really is making a massive difference to my life i.e. not as stressed and worried as I was at first.

    Good Luck
    Ellie xx
  • Hi Ellie

6 months salary thats good, is your hubby working as well? I too am looking for a new job really need to earn more about another £200 would be good then I think I would be ok.

Its hard trying to find a job that pays enough havnt worked in an office for 14 years
so took the child care route but it really dose not pay enough.

Just going to try and get through the next few weeks and im sure will be better off in October.

Are you desperate to get back to work or would it be nice to have some time off to yourself?

    Good luck Jackiexxx

Hi guys, I lost you all for a while. Any chance any of you could let me know how to find a thread ??!! but dont put it on here, ill never find it !! If someone could send me a private message to let me know Id be very grateful. Had a really bad couple of days with worry. I feel like I really should tell my hubby, but he is not the best with his nerves tbh and I dont want to make him ill. Feel like im making myself ill though. Im just going to send my wage slip ect and balances to cccs tomorrow, so hopefully I will feel better when I know the responses of my creditors. I just want it all up n running tbh, Im driving myself crackers, I keep thinking the bailiffs are gonna pay me a visit, or Im gonna loose my house, and my hubby dosent even know, Its an awful feeling, just wish I could be as strong as you guys seem to be

    xx Pam

To find this thread, when you come onto the page that lists all the forums, at the top you will see 'user cp' (it's also at the top of this page) if you click on that, this thread will come up and also any other threads you've added to, if there have been any new posts since your last visit. Hope that helps. Regarding bailiffs, they will only come if you have CCJ (county court judgement) against you, as far as I know. We are in the same situation as yourself at the mo, trying to set up a DMP so feel a lot like you do, it's all so uncertain, but remember there is always someone here to answer any questions you have or to just offer support. :)
  • Hi Pam

Really sorry to hear that you are feeling so rotten, I too didnt tell my hubby the extent of my debts and he still dosnt know the full extent.

Have you had any ccjs? it is very unlikley that you will get bayliffs coming round your house as you are trying to do something about your situation.

As for being strong I am not strong at all I am worried all the time about money and even worried to ask my husband to give me money for food because I feel like such a failure.

It should get better once your creditors have been written to, I am in my second month of this the phone calls have died down and get the occasional letter.

Try and keep strong I know its hard but you should start feeling better once your DMP is up and running.

    Take care Jackiexxx
  • I've had a bit of good news today MBNA have written to us stating whist our offer of payment isnt enough, they accept its all we can afford and therefore they agree not to add on any more charges and will freeze interest. Obviously our accounts will be marked as default but thats fair enough.

That is a huge weight of my mind.. MBNA are our biggest creditor and i really was worried what they would do.
  • Hi - yes thats what they did with us and it was great to receive a credit card bill from them this month with no interest added on so all of my payment via cccs has gone towards the debt - I am actually looking forward to receiving my credit card bills now instead of dreading them!!
  • Hi everyone

I'm a newbie here but have been lurking for years. I'm hopefulyl starting a DMP asap. I have spoken to PayPlan and have sent them all of my financial details, outgoings etc. I hope no-one minds but I have a few questions if anyone can answer them :)

How long after first contacting PayPlan does it normally take to get things sorted and to get the first payment coming out?

I have direct debits, and things due out at the end of this month from my account, if i say to the bank ive lost my card, does that mean they wont be able to take the money? This bank account I have now does not have any link with any of the credit cards or anything. It's pay day loans (stupid stupid stupid girl, please dont berate me, I already feel stupid enough) that are due to come out, so if i cancel the card they wont be able to take it will they? Apologies if this is a stupid questions, I am just trying to get my head together and round everything.

anyway, I hope everything is doing ok even though it is a monday! Where has the weekend gone! x

I contected pay plan about 3 weeks ago and made my first payment on 1st September.

Pay Plan advised me to go into bank and cancel all appropriate Direct Debits or cancel all online if you can.

anyway, I hope everything is doing ok even though it is a monday! Where has the weekend gone! x
