Right, which is it:
1st post:
Say 100 000 x £100 reserved for 10 days.
So over a year 10 million at 5% is £500k and £1.5 million in call charges.
You've stated here that they make £1.5 million in call charges a year, with each customer spending the £15 your sister spends.
1,500,000/15 = 100,000 complainers.
So you say that 100,000 people a year need to call up and complain, this same 100,000 people have £100 taken off them which Asda earns 5% interest over the 10 days (yes, 600% APR).
So, you think in the first post that it's 100,000 people a year
Or later:
10 000 people everyday x 365 days a year.
So now it is 3.65 million people a year.
I know the numbers are being pulled out of thin air, and Asda don't keep the money, but at least keep the story straight.0 -

End of the day, the bank held the money, not asda. Want someone to shout at? Try the bank
I've used Asda for years and never had a problem. Then again i would find out where i stand and what went wrong before jumping in both feet first and running my mouth...........
Or are you going to say you dislike me too simply because i dont agree with your twisted logic?
Actually I believe there have been other posts about this . the other online supermarkets manage to debit cards with the adjusted amount without reserving the first amount , so cant see why Adsa can't do the samethingVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -

I've never had Asda reserve 2 amounts off my card. Neither has anyone i know. As peachy said, if this happened to everyone, no one would use them. Although the OP seems to disregard that it would be the exception rather than the rule.
And again they're claiming asda are making money off of this reserved amount when it is the bank who are holding it.
It may come down to the type of card you use (solo/electron) or the bank you're with. But if it is happening, its a minority, not a majority and it may be happening for a reason outwith Asda's control (like i said, type of card/bank etc). You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
You guys not got work to do at asda today.
As for being dramatic, I guess you have never been in a position having little money and needing to budget, when this happens out of the blue it is a real blow.
I just dont agree with you guys, this SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
I have not got time to read from this point in the post, but yet again we have a newbie on here with jack Boots demanding absolution.

I'll add (just to be pedantic, but hopefully people will see the funny side).. Asda don't take the money.. Walmart do!

But back to the point, OP you are wrong, everyone else is right.:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
Funniest thread I've read all year, but I think that there is only one way to settle this.......

The reason is they make millions from people ringing 0845 to complain.

If you really think that then you are completely misguided!
Why would they risk alienating customers to make a little bit of money.
Also you should look on www.saynoto0870.co.uk for non expensive numbersThe Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

Is this a wind up?
If she had £200 in her account & £100 reserved for the order surely there was still £100 available to her?
Isn't 0845 a low / local rate call?
Also, if it's such a problem using on line shopping, why not go to the bank take your £100 & go to the store - end of problem!0 -

Indeed, I was mulling over that point myself, as we see below1. she had £200 in her bank (a)
2. she ordered £100 of groceries from asda (b)
3. asda reserved the £100 at her bank
4. asda slightly change this final amout and charge her £99 (C)
5. Asda/Bank dont release the £100 for 10 days (d)
6. She has no money for 10 days until asda release (e)
(a)-(b) = £100
(a)-(c) = £101
(d) - I thought it was £99?
So either your really trying to say that your sister ordered £100 of shopping, but then Asda charged her £199. If that's the case, that makes sense.
But it's a true point, if you do shopping online, you have to wait until the action is processed, if there's problems with this, tell her to turn off the computer and go to Asda.:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0
