Thanks consultant, I was going to have the cornflakes as they are the only wheat free option, however i decided not to coat them with anything in the end (didn't really fancy the cornflakes lol). They were quite nice but think I would prefer them cold next time. Will definately add a chopped onion in future - really don't know why I don't think of these things!!

I'm sorry I hadn't realised you needed wheat free - obviously missed some posts somewhere :o Perhaps you could add some garlic or onion salt to the cornflake crumbs to disguise any 'breakfast' flavour, lol..
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Morning all. :) happy Friday!

Welcome jillymit, and other newbies, hope you enjoy the forum - these guys are lovely and super-helpful.

Wootball - I think the idea is that a couple of syns a day make the plan easier to manage and stop you getting too rigid with your food (ie turning the 'plan' into a 'diet') as well as stopping your body from panicking and slowing down your metabolism. Plus it allows you to adapt your old recipes to SW-friendly ones rather than cut them out completely.
I did the same as you will my first day - ate a load of lovely pasta, salad, eggs and veg and couldn't belive it would work - but it really does!!

Here's my plan for the day: (just realised it's a bit egg-heavy! oops)
Brek - egg, ww bread (1/2 heb)
tea with 1/2 hea milk (and throughout the day)
strawberries mixed with ff fromage frais
2 Ryvita (1/2 heb and 1.5 syn) with light lauching cow (1/2 hea) and cucumber
Lunch - cold potato and egg and veg made into a spanish omlette thing
cucumber with the last of the HM hummous
if i'm still craving crunch by 3pm i'm going out to get some snack a jacks (5.0 syns - i think!) or space raiders if i can get my hands on them! (YUM! thanks Wootball!)
Dinner - pasta with bacon, mushroom, garlic and onion fromage frais 'creamy' sauce and veg

Morning everyone... hello and welcome to the newbies... it's always good to see new names.:wave::wave:

Last night I wasn't too bad eating out... starters was called Strawberry Fields and it was rare slivers of beef, leaves, pommegranite, strawberries and a lovely strawberry dressing... sounds odd but it was strangely lovely. Main was my fav.. Venison, a stuffed beetroot concoction, canterelles and gnocchi. Drinks I was very restrained... 1 x G&T and 1 x Mojito (mmmmm). I don't think I did too much damage.... next challenge .. the weekend.

    Today (EE)
    B - FryLite Egg (F) Bean (F) mushrooms (F) ham (F)
    L - 3 x Ryvita (B) Cucumber Quark (F) Ham (F)
D - SW KFC Chicken (3 for the bread crumbs) Salad (F) SF BBQ sauce (F).. maybe some potatos or rice (F)
    Snx - Chocolate Quark (2) Banana (F)

I will try to keep the syns to that as I will have gone over yesterday so today can make up for it.

The swiss roll sounds lovely I will try it after the w/e

Wootball - I've given up trying to understand the whys and wherefores of this eating plan, it drove me insane as I like to know how things work or the whys of things. My OH and friends are always asking questions especially when I am trying to get OH to eat MORE. My take is... when I eat more (superfree especially) and eat my syns I lose weight... when I don't, I don't. My 1st week I paniced everyday that I was eating too much but then lost 4.5lb so gave up after that LOL.

Have a fantastic day everyone xxx

Just remembered, I'm going to the cinema today! Any tips for SW-friendly munchies? I usually go to the corner shop and buy lollypops - how synful is a chupachups? (find it lasts longer than a bag of sweets and is less calorific). Might also get a curly wurly.

Well, I finished my fish week and what were the results of WI I here you cry? 0.5Ib off. sucks. Not convinced it entirely down to 'the plan' I think it's me- looking back at my weight losses no matter what I do I have a good loss one week, the an small loss (or even an unexpected gain!) the next. And this week was definitely one where I was scheduled a rubbish loss (and at least it wasn't a gain!) Ah, well. It'll show next week. It will.

    onwards and downwards.

Can you explain why you think I won't lose weight without eating Syns? There is no scientific reason to be eating Syns - hence them being an allowance rather than a requirement. "

Of course, open to being proven wrong :)

oi! Not all of us are chocaholics :D syns can be alcohol, extra cheese, a sausage roll, even extra meat for those doing green days, - I believe they are so you don't feel repressed by the eating plan, you can always give yourself a treat. Sorry, but I find your sentence "They are there to sweeten to deal for 'low willpowers' that can't give up their chocolate digestives, in my opinion." really patronising. We try to be nice and supportive to each other on here and keep some of our thoughts to ourselves. You probably didn't mean it to sound like that. Oh, and welcome to the Slimming World thread :)

...popped back to add that I see Wootball has succumbed to the Syns and is also a man (I read the posts backwards sometimes) so I forgive you for being patronising if you'll forgive me for accusing you of being patronising!)
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

    Morning all

    Hello to the newbies
well done on the losses all.....

Wootball -I struggle to use my syns -not because I don't think I should have them -but because Im a fruit monster and would choose that over just about everything, so I fill up on that and then find I can't get my syns in. BUT, Im making a real effort to use more as I have a lot of weight to lose and know that when things slow down and I need to cut back Im going to have no-where to go -If I can get my syns up a little at least then I can reduce them down again ;) -Hope that makes sense :rotfl:I don't use mine on choc etc either (i have been a junk free zone for 13 weeks :D).... I "pay" for yoghurts etc -don't like the muller things :(. But as long as they help us lose weight it really doesn't matter what you use them on..
Anyway folks Im on day 6 of fish week and -so far so good ... the cod in cheese sauce was gorgeous...in case its of use here is the recipe for the sauce:-
    • 125ml semi skimmed -3syns -or part of your heA
    • 2tsp cornflour (2) let down with a drop of the milk
    • dollop English mustard
    • 42g low fat cheddar (heA) -I love the cathederal city lighter -its gorgeous
So if you use your heAs its just 2 syns :T and in my case I "paid" for the milk to use some syns ;). Im doing that again and making cauli/broccoli cheese and macaroni cheese with it :D

Well my meal plan for today is:-
    • natural yogurt
    • banana
    • mixed berries
    • roll mops
    • lettuce
    • cucumber
    • celery
    • tomato
    • pepper
    • gherkin
    • beetroot
    • melon
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • 1tsp camp (0.5)
    • salmon with sweet chilli sauce (1)
    • 1/4tsp oil (0.5)stir fried:-
    • carrots
    • onions
    • peppers
    • mushrooms
    • 71g peas (B)
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • 1tsp camp (0.5)
    • 1 fibre plus bar (B)
So thats my A+Bs used -but only 2.5syns -so I will try and up those as I go...
Right I will get off for now-have a great day everyone and keep up the great work biggrin.gif
