    I lost 3lbs this week.

I am wondering tho if its worth trying a few Red and Green days this week. Been doing EE and have stuck 100% to plan an done lots of exercise....usually this would be a 5 or 6 pound loss???

Or maybe its cause I am older!!
Was it your first weigh in? If it was them maybe it could have been more than 3Ib but 3Ib is still a very good loss. If it's a 'normal' week then 3Ib is a great loss as 1-2 is normal and considered 'healthy'. Don't worry too much about whether it was enough or not. It's working for you :) And you may get a bigger loss next week :)

    Happy Birthday trixietoes! :D

DAy 6 of fish week for me and it's WI tonight. Really hoping for 3Ib lost (double my average loss!) :p
Just had smoked salmon and cream cheese on Ryvita and it was lovely. nom nom nom. But will be happy to revert back to a non-fishy week tomorrow. If this experiment is succesful I think I may continue to incorporate more fish in my diet though... perhaps as lunches seeing as OH doesn't actually like fish so he has had to fend for himself this week! :D

Hi ladies. WI last night for me and I lost 1lb. was happy with that but would really have liked 2!!! I've got a riding lesson tonight. That'll use a few cals!!! Those of you doing a fishy week......it sounds good but I'm not sure if I'd do it as I think it'd work out expensive!!!

    Here's my menu today:

    Brekkie - porridge (HEA&B), banana
Lunch - salad, mackeral in tom sauce, couscous, boiled egg, fat free dressing, salad cream (1)
Tea - turkey lasagne, jacket potato, salad
    snacks - fruit.

Just had to pop in and say thanks to Takeiteazy for the couscous fritta recipe. I finally made some and they are lovely! Used 1/2 a pack of Ainsley's spice sensation (already cooked, leftover from yesterday) with some low fat cheddar and spring onions. YUM! :D

Boo to chips. :( they always smell so nice tho dont they!

    .

Im not finding my food budget cheap at all when doing this, and have let go " just buy what I need when I need" Shopping more regularly as fruit is going off quickly in this weather etc. Alpen lites more expensive than anyother cereal bar, leanest meat is the most expensive unless you find yellow-label, you get the picture.

Does anyone have any really good ideas for cheapieness here. I need to embark on some big budget crunching bringing the food budget right back down. Anyone got any clues/ guidance on how to spend less, I think im spending about 50pw here at the moment and thats mainly for me and Ive been growing some food as well! I havent bought potatoes or carrots for ages.

Look forward to hearing your ideas on the budget :) xx

    Hiya Lynz

i find that if i put ALL my fruit in the fridge it lasts longer, apart from banana's and mango, then i meal plan just like i did before SW,so i'll make a roast dinner, cook a few extra veg and potatoes and then make a shepherds/cottage pie for the following night,
i make soup too, boiling the bones of a chicken for an hour or so,or i add a stock cube if i am short of time,i syn cornflour to thicken it but you could use mash potato, then i could throw in the left over veg,a bit of garlic a shake of chilli powder, open the cupboard and fling it in! ;) my fridge is full of marg pots with left overs in,i label them so i don't forget what they are, before i did that i would find mouldy peas in a pot <shudder>
i also find that if i 'cut' into the fruit veg it goes off quicker so i tend not to make in advance if i'm not going to eat it,if that makes sense?
you can freeze strawberries if you pop them onto a baking sheet til they are frozen and then into a freezer bag,i found if you freeze them as they are when defrosted they go a bit mushy
for a sweet thing i make rice pudding,i very rarely eat yoghurt as i find them expensive too,

    100g pudding rice
    50g sugar (i use Splenda)
    700ml skimmed milk
    pinch grated nutmeg
1 bay leaf , or strip lemon zest
i find this lasts me for 3 or 4 days and i use it for my HEA,those days i drink hot water with lemon juice in

whilst i am cleaning i shall think of what else i do to shave the budget a bit more,i spend less now i'm SW than before, oooh i also freeze a Mars bar after i have cut it in half, takes longer to eat and is half the syns ;) but still i have the sweet chocolate rush

Hi All, I'm getting a bit annoyed as i keep texting the lady who runs the group fr the password but get no response, does anyone have it they could pm me? I'm really struggling this week. I've had a stressful week so i just want to eat and drink wine! Have resisted so far but where i gained 1.5lb i feel a bit disheartened. :(
So far today i had beans on toast for brekkie with some fruit and lunch was a pasta salad with a synful bag of crisps and some grapes. I've got a new exercise bike and new kettlebell dvd so am hoping that mixing both of those in witht he diet should kickstart some proper weight loss.
    Tink x

    Thanks Susan,

Im doing all those things already. Im going to try and tally up what Im having with the cost ( i think i siad Id do this in the old thread lol and didnt!)

    So far today:
Tea with milk ( HEA) 5p
Half a mango ( 25p) muller (20p asda deal) half a punnet of strawbs from market 37.5p
    2 alpen lites ( 60p) asda deal
    3 pints tap water (free)
Half tin of beans ( 15p) egg 27p ( free range) 3x turkey rashers (75p) large handful of value mushrooms (15p)
1/3rd bottle of diet coke 50p

    Total so far 3.89

So if I multiply this by 14 ( 7x half days) 54.56 just for me!

So I wasnt too far off there in my guesstimate

I used to manage to spend 30pw on food for me AND OH including his lunches as well.

hmm ponders the need for chickpea curry a few times a week!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I've just been looking at the SW website & there's a Student area with a 7 day sample menu working out at £4.60 a day. There's a shopping list (Tesco January 2010 prices) & it's £32 for the week, with some of the items not all being used up during the sample week. Might be worth a look, the food looks nice & even if you followed it for one week a month it would save some ££s.

Well, I made the Jamie Oliver fishpie using fat-free fromage frais instead of creme fraiche last night & it went down very well, phew!! I didn't have any as I was missing a couple of ingredients so had to add more cheese than I would have been allowed, but I'll definitely make it like that again. DD2 asked if there was any more :D

Btw, how do peeps make their mash?? I lurve mashed potato to death!! :o Do you syn butter/marg/milk/cream etc?!

    Afternoon All

:T congrats to all the losers this week
I went to my first weigh last night and rejoined my local group and couldn't believe it had gone all hi-tech well done slimming world, although i bet I am going to lose the card........
Also last nights group was a taster - how excellent, some good recipes and ideas....
So my start weight was the same as my scales which is good to know and my first target is still 8 pounds so by this time next month i hope to have hit that.....

As for MSE - I find at first it is quite expensive cause your getting all your bits that you wouldn't normally have but I have found since I stoped snacking I have saved a fortune. It works for me and I don't expect anyone else to do it but, one morning I woke up and said get a grip, you can have your breakfast but you can't eat again till Lunch and then after lunch you can't eat until tea and then till breakfast.....
The reason being I have a job were I can eat all day and well I did and there was no need for it and so far it has worked plus I am spending less on food.

Anyone have a good recipe for FISH PIE??

Oh and also I have found that i need to be eating when I read this thread as it does make me hungry lol ;)
