Thing the reference to the sausages not being "mse" is that they are pretty expensive. Saying ythat good sausages tend to be, ( 97% meat etc) Although Joes are more expensive than the ones I buy in Waitrose. Blimming good for syn free, even Linda Mccartney cant manage that!

AH...I see, thanks for that explanation (I have a lot of blonde days...but I prefer to pass them off as brain fog after the op lol ;) )
I dont have a waitrose round here, morrisons were the only syn free....now theyve gone and made theirs 1/2 each
Yeah I suppose Joes are a bit more expensive-but we all clubbed together so got free postage....plus the marinaded meats + burgers for the barbeques more than made up for the few extra pennies on the sausage we thought:rotfl:

I think its fine, when I move I'll probably get a big order in, just of the sausages. I always Handmake burgers with mince, and the chicken is easily done yourself for syn free anyway isnt it. Dont eat them so much in the winter, but eat them pretty regularly in the winter, so Its worth having then. Although I might keep the syn free ones for me and buy cheaper ones for OH :D
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...

Just wanted to talk about budgeting and SW.

Im not finding my food budget cheap at all when doing this, and have let go " just buy what I need when I need" Shopping more regularly as fruit is going off quickly in this weather etc. Alpen lites more expensive than anyother cereal bar, leanest meat is the most expensive unless you find yellow-label, you get the picture.

Does anyone have any really good ideas for cheapieness here. I need to embark on some big budget crunching bringing the food budget right back down. Anyone got any clues/ guidance on how to spend less, I think im spending about 50pw here at the moment and thats mainly for me and Ive been growing some food as well! I havent bought potatoes or carrots for ages.

Look forward to hearing your ideas on the budget :) xx

also since my wine consumption has slowed to nothing - am on vodka these days - find thats also cheaper :D

Same here - used to get through a good few bottles of wine a week! But on SW i've only had one bottle in about a month! So that brings down the cost of shopping significantly!

Other ways to save money are to buy the cheaper kinds of meat - eg turkey is much cheaper than chicken - and the obvious bogofs when it comes to yoghurts and cereal bars and yellow stickers for meat. I have also find that the tiny loaves of warburtons are cheap compared to other bread.

I agree that all the fruit and veg can be costly. I am lucky I suppose that I live where I do as we have a high street with an ethnic greengrocers that sells all kinds of veg and fruit £1 each. We also have a fab market at the weekend. However, when I go to Tescos I really stuggle. Can't belive how expensive a red pepper is there compared to the market! And they are usually smaller and not as nice. :( So I have been limiting myself to a couple of fresh veg choices a week (eg. one or two peppers, broccolli, courgette) for the meals that matter, like stir fries, and frozen veg for putting in curries, sauces, shepherds pie, etc. Luckily pasta and tinned toms are very cheap. To be honest I think it is swings and roundabouts a lot of the time, as I'm buying less of some things but more of others.

    Today's plan
Brek: Alpen light (1/2 heb) and 2 Cups of tea (1/4 hea milk)
    Snack: pineapple
Lunch: Couscous frittas! (finally going to make them!) with 3/4 HEA cheese HM hummus, salad and veg
    Snack: Alpen light (1/2 heb)
Dinner: reheated morroccan turkey curry from yesterday with boiled rice
    Mullerlight orange choc

hope everyone's having a good day and well done on all the losses!

We have Asda and Sainsbury right next door to each other near to me. Because I struggle a bit walking at the moment, I often go on the my supermarket site first to have a mooch about just to see whats on offer where and then plan my list from there.

I Usually end up getting meat from asda as its almost always some sort of 2 for £5 or £6 ...and splitting it into portions enough for me and oh to be cooked whenever (last week got some lovely sizzle pork steak 5 in each pack so froze in 2s for 10 stir frys)
I also batch cook spag bol and chilli which is cheap (and gets ur 1/3 superfree )
yoghurts I tend to get whichever are on offer....usually this is constant anyway in asda to some degree.
I do seem to be spending a shocking amount on fruit tho  ive been meaning to have a look at prices of own brand frozen berries instead of fresh (someone at class said they got some cheap but it kind of went in one ear and out the other :o )

Just looked at sainsbury frozen basic red berries 400g £1. blueberries 400g £2.25 3 for £5 (they have some other fruits too on the 3 for £5 offer)
