    Afternoon All

Very long time no post, well very brief update, have been having my ups and downs but plodding on but i back with a passion now (she says having just eaten a packet of crisps oppps) and way have lost half a stone so far and am quite looking forward to going to group tonight.
I have 7 pounds to get me under 10st which is my first target - I am also going to check out the cookbooks - apparently there are some fab recipes - will report back later.

I do have a very blonde question, what crispbreads does everyone use as there healthy extra - i make it you can have 6 but which ones - anyone have particular brand or type - or is it just the plain old ryvitas - will stock up casue I want to try then with eggs for breakkie. Also in supermarkets there is a packet thats just called crisp breads are these ok do they count what syns are we talking..

    Hope that makes sense

haha good to know my OH isn't the only ones whose 'treats' aren't good for the waistline!

Just making my turkey curry now. Oh my goodness it smells lovely. It's not so curry now more a morrocan tagine type thing, with tomatoes and cinnamon and oads of cumin and coriander. Going to have it with couscous rather than rice.

Is Ainsley Harriot spice sensation cous cous free?

I'm also going to have salad and consultant31's hummous! YUM! Shame I can't get as enthusiastic about work as I can about cooking!

1/2 syn EE + Green 6 1/2 red........what time do do want us round for tea then lol :j sounds yummmmmy

Hope these recipes might be of use to some of you:-

    Chicken & Ham Pate

1 chicken breast (cooked and diced),
Small handful of wafer thin ham,
1 large tub very low fat cottage cheese,
    1 tsp garlic,
    1 tbsp chopped parsley.

Blend all ingredients together until smooth.

    Liver & bacon pate

1lb liver of your choice chopped
    4-6oz bacon chopped
    1 large onion finely chopped
    1-2 cloves garlic crushed
    Frylight
    1 tub quark
Fry the onion and garlic in the Frylight until soft. Add the liver and bacon and fry until cooked. Place everything in a food processor and process until as smooth as you prefer. Add quark and process until blended. Divide into containers cool and refrigerate or freeze.

    Smoked salmon pate

8oz smoked salmon pieces (or mackerel if preferred)
8oz natural low fat cottage cheese.
    Lemon juice
    Black pepper.

Blend all ingredients together until smooth.

    Spicy Mexican spread

Mash 200g of red kidney beans with very low fat fromage frais and half a teaspoon of mild chilli powder. Mix in half a 100g can of sweetcorn, half a chopped red pepper and 1 finely chopped spring onion. Leave chunky or blend smooth if preferred.

    Hummus

    Three tins of chickpeas
Juice and rind of two lemons
    Salt
    1 fat clove of garlic
Tub of very low fat fromage frais
    Blend all together until smooth.

All these recipes keep well in the fridge for a couple of days, and would be equally nice on crispbread or as a filling for a jacket potato.

    Hi Consultant31

Appologies for prehaps being a bit dim but do any of these recipes have any syn values? (just wanted to check before getting too excited)
    Cheers

The only crispbreads you can have 6 of for a HEB are the ryvita crackerbread. They're not the same as the 'normal' ryvitas. There are lots of different types of ryvitas now and the number you can have depends on which ones they are. I'm sure if you let us know which ones you have then someone will tell you how many you can have for you HEB.

Excellent! I'm only having a 1/3 of the pack and saving the rest for lunches/dinner in the week.

I have actually made so much that you could all come round for tea and there would be seconds!:rotfl:

Consultant31 the hummous came out amazingly! thanks!! I put some paprika in it too to add a little something!

I don't do recipes, but here's what I put in the turkey dish:
Marinated chunks of turkey breast in powered cumin, coriander, ginger, pepper, paprika, chilli powder, tumeric, a squeeze of lime and 1 tsp oil (2 syns)
then cook in pan (on same day or next day in my case!) with onions, garlic, red and green peppers, peas, mushroom, courgette (any veg you can get your hands on) and a tin of tomatoes. Add more cumin, coriander, tumeric and paprika. Add half a chopped red chilli pepper. add some cinnamon to get that lovely aroma. squeeze of lemon before serving. I think that's it I dont really remember I just make it up as I go along!!

Serve with HM hummous, coucous and lots of salad!

Yep, the cheapest one I got was 2.97, the other 3.20

Morrisons value chickens were 2.99 so I thought it was a good deal :D

normal ryvita is 3 for a HEB, the thin ones (crispbread i think but the silly names confuse me!) are 6 for HEB
