OH brought home a takeaway last night, so that was the healthy turkey curry out the window! (or still in the fridge for tonight, actually!) As a reuslt of all this week's slip ups (getting stressed, TOTM, eating toast and crap all day) I have seen a small gain, which sucks but I know I can sort it out if I get my head back into SW. I slipped quite early into the plan which I guess is one of the risks of not going to the classes.

Bettyb have you tried the WW dessert style 4pack yoghurts? the cheesecake ones in those are really nice ane theyre syn free....bonus :j

I'll seek them out next time I'm out of mullers - sounds good, thanks!

    Today (EE)
Brek: Tea and 21g raisin wheats (1/2 heb) with 1/2 hea milk
2x ryvita (1/2 heb and 1.5 syns) and 2 light laughing cow (1/2 hea)
Lunch: HM Hummus thanks to consultant31 with spicy turkey pieces and salad
Dinner: Spicy Turkey curry with toms and a bit of fat free fromage frais, lots of veg, and rice
Snacks: Mullerlight cheesecake (1.0), fresh pineapple, strawberries and fat free fromage frais.

I have noticed that I tend to use up my HEB and HEA in the mornings really easily - but I'm not sure what to have for breakfast apart from cereal, toast or ryvita. Anyone got a suggestion for a filling breakfast without bread??? Eggs would work but I need bread with them usually.

Also I am really craving crunchy food. I have noticed that a lot of free food - yoghurt, fruit, pasta, etc, is all quite 'soft' as has made me crave crisps and toast as a result. Even Alpen lights are quite squidgy. Does anyone have any ideas for crunchy food to curb my craving???

    Thanks!

Ryvita minis are not free, but you can have them as a healthy extra.

I do red and green days (but still follow the 1/3 rule to boost weight loss). This means I can have two HE A&Bs, which gives me a bag of ryvita minis in the evening without eating into my syns.

    Hope this helps

cyclingyorkie - hang in there and continue following the plan 100%, sometimes it takes a week or two for your body to respond.

My best tips - do keep a food diary, do weigh/measure your HEs, don't estimate synned food, and do write down everything that passes your lips.

Also, do measure yourself now at the start - I have really struggled to lose weight (but I always do) it has come off 1lb and 1/2lb at a time, while others in my group regularly shed 4lb a week. Yes I do find it disheartening, but after 5 weeks I'd dropped a dress size and my tummy was much flatter - when I feel down I go and compare my inches now with what I was at the start.

Also increasing your water/liquid intake really does help - I have a plastic pint picnic glass and always drink from that, and keep it re-filled. I find just the fact that it is there encourages me to drink.

Hope this helps a bit xx

Re the water, I fill up a 1.5 litre bottle in the morning and make sure I have drunk that by tea time then have a pint during the evening to make it about 2 litres. I find this way I don't forget to drink it. Or if you are out and about use little half litre bottles with the elastic band trick... put 4 on and take one off each time you finish the bottle.

  • Morning everyone

If you can't get to Asda for the mullerlight offer, the co-op/Somerfield are doing a pack of 6 for £2. Also a pack of 4 Shape Zero yoghurts are £1.

Can I ask if anyone has a fishpie recipe, please?? I usually follow a Jamie Oliver recipe that uses creme fraiche (mixed in with the raw fish, grated carrot & celery, fresh or dried chilli & seasoning, topped with mash & bunged in the oven for an hour) but I think the creme fraiche is too high in syns for EE?? I've got some fat-free fromage fraise & I wondered if I could use that instead?? Would that make it too sweet?? I always think of fromage fraise as a 'sweet' ingredient rather than 'savoury'. Hmm, just remembered I usually put grated cheese in the mix as well so I'll have to look at that as well

betty, could you have raw carrots/celery with the hummus to give you a bit of crunch??

Thanks. I am going to try to do green and red days sometimes so I can have a bit of extra bread if I need to. I will also try ryvita minis, however i have not been a big fan of ryvita products in the past!

sweetserendipity - I do intend to have celery/veg but you try telling my body (esp during TOTM) that it's the same as a bag of salt n vinegar walkers! lol. Seriously tho I will try veg and dips as I want to acclimatise my body to that kind of food and kick my horrible crisps/choc cravings for good. thanks.

BettyB...take a look at my brekkie below, it's filling and crunchy! Cereals/porridge etc don't fill me up for long but so far this morning I haven't needed my banana or fruit.
It's WI tonight and I'm quite looking forward to it!!! We're hoping to go to the fruit farm for some more raspberries either tonight or tomorrow night and I'd also like to get some redcurrants to make some HM cordial!

Here's my menu for today, it's a green day:

Brekkie - 1.5 hard boiled eggs (half of 1 stuck to the shell when I peeled it!!!), a third of a tin of beans, 6 wholemeal crispbread (HEB), marmite
lunch - batchelors pasta & sauce (need to check syns, it's ham leek & cheese flavour), yogurt, mixed berries.
Tea - chicken balti vindaloo, rice, small piece of naan depending on how amny syns I have left.
Snacks - banana, nectarine, plums, rasps, pineapple.

I am a bread fiend so Iv had to just stop eating it altogether (or else I find I cant usually stop at 2 little slices :o) If I have scrambled or poached egg I get those giant flat mushrooms and cook them in fry light then serve the egg on top of that as a toast substitute....it kind of works in a wierd way .

for the crunchy cravings have you tried cooking some lasagne sheets then spraying a little fry light, sprinkle with something like garlic salt and paprika...then use a knife or pizza cutter and cut into triangles then bake in the oven til they go crispy.....theyre like doritos, you can make a free dip with from frais and garlic or whatever takes your fancy and its a nice little syn free treat for when you feel the urge :) my oh loves em
