    Evening all

Mumof2.... OH BUM -I didn't think you would be making it yet -I meant to say I reduce the amount of liquid I use (I do in most SW recipes)... you know if/when you make it again (tis one of my faves) ... I make the sauce 1st, with less stock and then reduce it right down so it thickens BEFORE I put the chicken in (and yes it goes pinky :p)... I also use breasts not thighs.... the Tuscan chicken is nice too (and uses less ingredients) and again I use breasts... hope you like it...
ooooohh ohhhh and as a cheaper but just as tasy dish -I do the coq au vin sauce without the chicken and its yummy on pasta ;) ..ooh oohh and I only use 1 rasher of bacon per portion (smoked is best)-I think they put far too much bacon in -especially when you are having chicken too....

I used chicken breasts and let the sauce reduce right down (took the cooked chicken out first, before it dried out too much)

And the verdict is...... everyone liked it, even the teenagers, apart from the mushrooms :T I didn't have all the bacon they suggested, only had 3 slices left and that was plenty once cut up. I put more carrots in as well, I really loved the shallots in it, next time I will put more of them in. Oh well, not much like the original recipe eh, once we are finished with it :rotfl::rotfl:

It made loads though, so I have a portion for my lunch tomorrow, I will make AH chili cous cous with it, should be good.

Now for the washing up.. :(
  • Hi all, am at home now so can post without having to minimise everytime somebody wanders past so here's todays food so far :o

    Breakfast: Weetabix (heb)
    unsweetened soya milk (hea)
    2 Plums.

    Snack: Grapes.

Lunch: Lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, sweetcorn, grated carrot, pickled onions, cornichons and tinned sardines in tomato sauce.
Mango, HD Melon, Kiwi and Raspberries.

Snack: 10 calorie cup-a-soup type thingy. (0.5 syns)

Dinner: Cod Loin, Wedges, Cauliflower and Brocolli and 2 new potatoes.
    Cherries, Mango, Strawberries and blackberries.

Am eyeing up a packet of salt n vinegar snack-a-jacks if i fancy something else before i go to bed.

Have stuck with EE to date as it's easy enough for me to understand and feel comfortable with, hopefully i'll pick up tips on having the odd green/red day over the next few weeks/months so when my weight loss does slow up/stop i can try and mix it up a bit :D

I can't get it out here so hubbies mate dragged me 6 bottles back from the Uk ;)

Ah right. Ta for explaining! I'd noticed you'd had it most days but couldn't figure out what it was.

    Thanks dizzyk.

I went blackberrying picking on way back from picking up something from freecycle, and got a pound of blackberries! :D Any SW ideas of what to do with them?

I would like to know the syns in the Harvester Simply Pasta (without garlic bread) please?

    TIA

Oh you are asking the right person! Just check out my username!

Sooooooooooooooooo apart from blackberry and apple (no) crumble you can make Blackberry Rum/vodka/gin (whichever is cheapest in your local netto aldi or lidl. That needs a big jar, say an old instant coffee jar, washed out. Tip in the washed berries, do not press them down, just fill the jar to the brim with berries. Then tip SUGAR (food of the devil; I have not tried this with sweetener but it SHOULD work) into the jar to loosely fill the gaps between the berries. Then tip in your booze to fill in the gaps - you didn't think any were left? think again - and if you have a layer of space at the top pack in a few more berries and cover with booze. Put on lid, label it with the year, and put it away somewhere for at least one year. Save your small wine bottles if you want to bottle it for gifts. Or keep it for yourself. it is a liqueur though, so you only need a drop at a time

Then you can make what I am currently making, blackberry vinegar :D. This is fab when taken diluted as a hot drink as soon as you feel a hint of a tickly throat, as it has vinegar for antiseptic and the vit C of the berries. To make that tip all your blackberries into a big bowl or bucket and cover with proper malted vinegar. Cover the bucket and leave it for three days. At the end of three days drain off the liquid and keep it; you can bin the berries. Now bring the liquid to the boil and add SUGAR (I am currently experimenting with sweetener), you'll find an online recipe to tell you how much, I just wallop it in because you can add more sweetener if you need it when you use it. Simmer it for a while, not to reduce it, for instance I've given mine 10 mins in microwave. Allow to cool and bottle it. I use the vinegar bottles that the original vinegar came in. Label it because after a while you won't remember which is vinegar and which is blackberry vinegar :rotfl:

    have a good time :D
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Awww daisy.....real sorry to hear about your hubby hun :( cant be easy for you? I can fully understand the stress factor tho....I ate my way up a stone or 2 after the last op.....and the one before :o

I know what you mean about letting your hair down at the weekends tho, especially when you have so much going on in your life that is mentally very draining.....I used to love my weekend bottle of red or 2:)

Dont know what to suggest re the SW/wine thing tho other than try what your mum did?? It does seem to work for a lot of people. what plan do you do?....maybe try shocking your system and chuck a few reds in to shake things up a bit?

Really hope you find a solution daisy....chin up chuck xx ;)

Evening all, today I have mostly been eating:

    B - weetabix milk [a] coffee

    L - pasta, quark,fromage, grated cheese [a] s/cream [1] - dressing

T - 2 wm rolls, 2 quorn sausages, tom sauce [2], sliced toms

Snacks - muller, pineapple, melon, wild plums, meringue [2.5]

    Syns - 5.5

Been busy cooking this evening [not like me :p]. Got slow cook full of liver & onions for tomorrows lunch [Hubbys only cooked meal each day] as I will be at work :( so won't see him til tomorrow night. Also made what should be cous cous frittas but didn't want to get my hands messy so made it in a loaf tin and will slice it when cold. Will have that for my lunch tomorrow.

I feel I'm doing well with hubbys food, everything I make is sw friendly but he spoils it by having energy drinks to keep him going. Its been a long time since he did any manual work [was a computer/office bod b4] so its taking some getting used too. Hopefully he'll not need the energy drinks soon and the work/hot factory will help with the weight loss :D.
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

    Ooh Blackberry !

Im loving the sound of the blackberry vodka :D

my OH's mum keeps bringing me loads of them from her allotment and Im overrun with them.....she knows Im eating lots of fruit and berries - but honest I could supply Asda with the amount Ive now got :rotfl:

Shes got to have her 'tonic' as she calls it before bed to stop her leg cramps (not that ive ever seen much tonic going in it lol) so if I get some blackberry vodka on the go now I can put it in a nice bottle or 3 for next xmas for her :T :T oh you are a clever blackberry :D x
