Edit: Having re-read it, I think she is counting the finished weight (115g) as equivalent to 2 x 57g of any wholemeal bread. I guess this could work?

TBH I don't see why not, it just says 57g of wholemeal bread and if you happen to have turned that 57g of bread into a pizza base then you are following the rules. I don't see it as any different to using 2x slices of wholemeal bread as cheese on toast, with cheese as HEA. And you can add extra free toppings like mushrooms and veg, or ham if you are having EE or red day.

Just need to find that bread mix now... ;)

    Great, thanks laura2481!
I am going to use the bread recipe for my bread maker and work out the proportions based on 80g mix=115g finished bread, if you see what I mean. I don't like buying mixes in general, it will just suit me better. I think I will try to leave a bit of leeway in terms of syns that day to cover any miscalculation!

Gah, started well - rice pudding with blueberries and yoghurt but now no time for lunch. Don't feel like eating anyway as hubby tells me he's off to work up north again next week :( Got fruit with me if I need it though.

  • Day 2 of SW for me.

Day 2 seemed to go OK, but I keep messing up my food diary by putting things in the wrong columns!

I've just realised that I have my HE a and b first thing in the morning as I have porridge made with skimmed milk for breakfast. I inadvertently had two HE b's yesterday as I had beans on toast for lunch.

Today I had beans on spud instead of beans on toast, so that solved that problem. Only thing is that I still feel very full (2 med spuds 1/2 tin beans) 2 hours after lunch and can't manage the fruit I've prepared. I suppose I can save it for later.

For dinner I will have stir fry pork with veg and soy sauce.

I do hope I'm losing but it's hard to believe at the moment as I'm feeling as if I'm about to explode! Maybe I should lay off the beans?
  • Oops, i meant Day 1 seemed to go OK.

You could have 'magic porridge' for breakfast to save your HEA. It's 28g oats (HEB) mixed with a syn free yogurt. Mix it up at end of day and put in fridge. By morning it will have swelled up and become creamy and yummy. You can add fruit to it too. I eat it cold but it can be heated gently in microwave for few secs (but be careful cos it's yogurt not milk!). Then you have your HEA free for later in day.

  • Thanks Flutter. I will try that, but may have to warm it up slowly, don't fancy chilly porridge!

It's not so much the HE a being used up, as I have skimmed milk, so there is still plenty left for cups of tea, but the HE b meaning that I would have to use Syns for a slice of bread or crispbread at lunch.

I always have porridge because a - I like it and b - nothing else fills me up for as long. I eat breakfast at work at about 9am as I can't spend time sitting around eating first thing or I would be late for work!

Maybe at the weekend I will be trying the eggs and bacon option - yummy!

Lucy, I may have misunderstood you, but you know you have TWO HE As and TWO HE Bs each day, don't you? Sorry if I am stating the obvious.

unless following extra easy, you only get one of each on EE.

Day has got better, had baked potato and chilli for lunch with salad, still heading for a syn free dinner but still can't think of where to put in a HEB hmmmmmm
