BUT I can give you a tip that DOES work, I promise, the success express plan (it isn't in the book but your consultant will have a leaflet).... Basically whatever plan you are following (red, green, or EE) have two thirds super free veg or fruit and one third whatever the plan is. Every meal including breakfast (just have two thirds fruit, or maybe tomatoes and mushroom, or even a salad).

Count your syns at whatever the highest rate is of the three plans (this can be tricky if you have your syns as part of your meals, but I keep mine for snacks so it is easier as there is usually not much difference).

On this plan you can also have 2 HEAs & 2 HEBs a day, which I find really helps.

This isn't a SW plan though! It's ok as a boost, but the whole idea of food optimising is that restrictions such as these are not necessary.

SW is not a diet, it's a healthy eating plan for you to follow for ever, not to do for a limited time while you lose your excess weight.

It will be slower than a diet but much more healthy and you won't feel as though you're being deprived of everything that makes life worthwhile.

Dawnteabag - it could be that you're not eating enough. Having just fruit and yoghurt for your main meal isn't enough IMO. Drink lots of water (at least 2 litres a day) and I'm sure you'll see a difference.

Also, don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat and your gym work will be building muscle and keeping your body toned at the same time as helping to raise your metabolism.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Hi everyone - I'm interested in joining SW tomorrow, and have absolutely no idea what to expect.

Can anyone explain to me without abbreviations or anything what I can expect?

One other problem - I'm a guy. Not trying to be sexist, but I presume most of those at SW are ladies. Do they take kindly to blokes joining, or am I best doing something else?

    Thanks :)

Slimming world will be fantastic, we have a couple of guys in our group and they have lost lots of weight.

You get to eat healthy food and not be hungry, so a winner for all really.

Loads of men lose great weight through slimming world :D

As you've probably seen on here, men seem to lose a bit faster than women

In a couple of the magazines Ive had there's stories of men losing plenty and looking so fantastic afterwards :)

Im not sure what the abbreviations are

    SS - super speed
    SW- slimming world
    EE- extra easy
RD/ GD -red day green day

Read through the slimming world website, and ask as many questions as you like of us, we'll do what we can ! :)

You should be able to get hold of the slimming world magazine that is brilliant, has great recipes and inspirational stories, you can get them in the big supermarkets and smiths.

Best of luck with it! Stick with us
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

DizzyK -can you get some medication to help with the nausea/dizziness? Only I had neurosurgery in October and I couldn't have got by without it.... it didn't stop it -but it made it more manageable. Hope you are better soon
    Hi Mrs M
During my surgery they also had to remove one of my vestibular balance organs in my inner ear - so my brain has to now learn to re programme itself with only half an organ (complicated but its like learning to walk from being a baby....except that as an adult its all stored somewhere different) anyway because of this they cant give me any sickness drugs as they work on the brain :( the only thing O can still take is something from the chemo treatment for sickness....its passing gradually now, but the damage to my stomach and oesophagus is causing the probs eating at the mo....Im on loads of tablets and waiting for an endoscopy...they think I may also have a hiatus hernia so if they op to put that back it may sort me out......Im just a bit of a wreck at the moment lol .... but im still here ......;)

LOL - I know fruit and yoghurt is not enough for a main meal but what I didn't tell you was that for my friends birthday lunch at zizzi I had a huge portion of pasta (but did ask for reduced creme fraiche in the sauce) and a garlic bread the size of a pizza (although I didn;t finish either - I was just too full - not full enough to say no to the birthday cake though obviously!) So that was a one-off blow out with yoghurt and fruit for tea

    Today my plan is

    Breakfast
2 x weetabix (HEB) with milk (HEA) and banana
Saving other HEA for milk in tea throughout he day

    Snack
    Apple

    Lunch
Ainsley Harriot Couscous with tomato, spring onion and sweetcorn salad (1 syn)
    Muller light

    Snack
    Plums and Strawberries

    Dinner
Leftover SW vegi lasagna from the weekend - 1 syn
Pudding to be decided when I know how full I am but probably Fresh fruit salad wit FF fromage frais

Treat - Dime Bar 7.5 syns

    9.5 syns over all

Sorry to get back on the the topic of dairy (I will get my head round it eventually!) but can I use fat free fromage frais in a curry instead of low fat natural yoghurt???

Morning all, I'm so glad I posted on here yesterday, it's spurred me on to read through the posts and has helped me get ' into the zone' Although having said that it's hubbys birthday today so we'll be eating out tonight it's a Harvester so any recommendations from their new menu ? I don't want to feel deprived but at the same time don't want to lose this positive feeling. I was thinking maybe ribs with jacket and sweetcorn and obviously salad from salad bar...................Pudding maybe a bit of a challenge though I just love the 'Rocky horror' !!!!

From a Slimming World point of view ....yes, from a culinary point of view I think you have to be careful not to heat it too quickly as it may separate, although I'm certainly no expert in the cooking dept!
