dawnteabag: just had another thought, are you drinking enough? I know when I make a real conscious (sp?) effort to increase my fluid intake I usually get a good weightloss, it just seems to help things along, not really sure why, but you never know, it can't hurt to give it a whirl. Sugar free squash, diet coke, water etc. etc. Good luck

Hello everyone from a very disheartened SWer

WI this morning - gained 1 and a half pounds - just how can that be? - I've stuck to it religiously, weighing to make sure I was doing it right after only losing 1/4ib last week. I've been to the gym 3 times - all for less than nothing. It's not like I'm anywhere near target have over 2 stone to go.

As I mentioned yesterday, it was a friends birthday today so have been out to lunch and had a piece of cake but am back on track again - fruit salad and yoghurt for me for tea and am off to the gym again in a mo.

Have decided to give it 1 more week and then give up. Have been doing SW for 6 weeks and have lost a grand total of 5lb - which some people lose in their first week.

Sorry to be on a downer but I am literally sat here with tears pouring down my face.
Anyway - chin up, onwards and upwards as they say...........

Don't cry - 5 lb in six weeks is absolutely average as far as I know ... they reckon about a pound a week should come off. Obviously, people with a lot more to lose (and ANY men, grrrrr) lose more per week, but generally our consultant reckons a pound a week, taking into account the ups and downs we all have, is just fine because if it comes off "slowly" it won't go back on too fast. Your gain might be related to the previous week even, or did you eat some "heavier" fruit on weigh in day (I try to avoid apples and bananas on Tuesdays :D )? Also, going to the gym can create muscles and they tell us muscle weighs heavier than fat. Have you been measuring your progress in inches lost? If not, measure yourself NOW and write it down; i keep a piece of paper stapled in my SW book and add new measurements every couple of weeks. Really, you will have lost inches. See that picture by my name there <<<<<? that is half a pound of chicken fat on my kitchen scales. You have lost ten times that much is only six weeks! Amazing :T
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Back from the gym and feeling a bit positive - take note of that ladies, it's rare the gym has that effect on me and is unlikely to ever happen again!

Thanks for all the advice - I will give it another week and see how it goes. I don't go to classes because I just can't stand sitting there listening to all those going 'I can't believe I lost 3 and a half pounds this week because I had takeaway twice, etc, etc " when I know I've stuck to it and am going nowhere. That and I struggle to find time to get to a class as I'm a single-mum working full time. Finding time to go to the gym is tugh enough. I have taken my son with me once but I don't think it's a healthy environment for children - I don't want him getting obsessed with body image

I'll try and drink a bit more this week and see if it helps. Might also try and limit my banana intake - I've had 3 some days and I don't really believe that they can possibly be 'free' - 3 bananas would be a quarter of my daily food allowance on WW!
I did make a note of my measurements when I started and I have lost an inch or so according to the tape but my clothes don't feel any looser.

Whingeing over - keep up the good work the rest of you!

Awww, don't feel too bad. I joined in February and in the 15 between joining and the 3rd of June I lost 5Ib (I lost a bit more but when up and down and generally struggled) Since the 3rd of june (7 weeks)- I have lost 11Ib. That averages at 1.5Ib per week.
So don't feel too bad. It's not how fast you loose it... it's the general downwards direction of those numbers on the scales. Slow and steady wins the race :)
And so what if this week shows a blip on the scales? Stick with it. I bet you have a better loss next week.

My only advice- keep a food diary (if you aren't already), weigh everything which should be weighed don't guestimate. Don't eat anything unless you know the syn value first (this stops me snacking on things I think are low syn but then turn out to be  :rotfl:) make sure you drink at least 1.5litres of fluid a day and always always always have at least 1/3 superfree at every meal.

Actually, that was quite a lot of advice :rotfl:

Good luck hon. It will start coming off. xx

Glad you are feeling a bit more :) Try swapping 2 of your bananas for one of the fruits which are speed foods, such as apples or strawberries. Although bananas are 'free' they're not speed foods.

Todays meal plan changed a little as the blue cheese dip was awful! I used a HEA of blue cheese in Quark and left it over night. It was far too strong and seriously stinky. Oh well you live and learn

So todays menu ended up like this:
    Monday - Red
Drinks – Milk (HEA), Coffee, Diet Coke, Water
    Breakfast – Bacon, Egg, Tomatoes
Snack –Blue cheese dip (HEA),celery, carrots, peppers 1 Alpen light (1/2 HEB),
Lunch – Chicken salad, HM coleslaw, Yoghurt, Crisps (6)
Snack - Pineapple, grapes, strawberries and raspberries
Dinner – Stewing steak, potatoes (HEB), mixed veg,

I'm about to have my supper of 1 Alpen light (1/2 HEB) and lemon curd in total 0% greek yoghurt (2). This will account for all my A’s and B’s plus 8 syns. I'm quite happy with today.

    Best of luck, K
