    hello all.

i rejoined slimming world last night..i did it 7 years ago lost 2 stone in 2 months but then got PG lol.
ive done it a few times over the years but have never stuck to it...this time im determand (sp?) to do it. i got married a week and 1/2 ago and i looked HUGE!! im also trekking in china in 18 months need to lose a few pounds (stone) before then. so 2 really good incentives.

so far this morning i have had a hi fi bar and a coffee with milk and sugar eeekkk...i have decided to stay away from all the 'diet' drinks and sweetners as they are high levels of aspartame...i would rather have a little sugar that uses up a few syns than poison my body with that 'stuff' :) it makes life harder as soooo much stuff contains it but i would rather go without those things that it contains than eat it (if that makes sense lol) sorry just on a ramble there.

i think for lunch i will have maybe egg on toast using bread from heb, for dinner we are having jacket potatos with cheese and beans. so guess im on a green day hehe. im off to the supermarket to stock up on superfoods, especially easy eat stuff as i hate peeling oranges lol .
  • one thing i've just picked up on is that I don't always have my HEB and HEA is this likely to affect how much I lose?

I ran a marathon a while ago and was very skinny at the time. I had a personal trainer and he said that my weight would go up in the training as muscle is denser and weights more than fat. By the end of the training I didn't look any different, if anything I was leaner but I weighed 1/2 stone more.

He also pointed out that body builders have high BMIs because of this and his BMI was 30 something even those to look at him he was fit and health with no an ounce of fat.

If you dont have your HEA & HEB (more the HEB as its the fibre that helps digest and push out the food) it will DEF affect your losses.

my ex husband was a semi pro body builder and if you build a 'lot' of muscle that you didnt have before from hard training then its going to weigh...as it is a lot denser.....so if you were very skinny then I can imagine 7lb of muscle thru running being achieved easily.
but generally speaking I dont think its humanly possible with what ive just read for any of us lot to gain a couple of pounds in muscle in a week :D :rotfl:LMAO

*but muscle doesnt weigh any more than fat still.....a pound is still a pound*

I didn't think about that. I suppose I gained 7 pounds is six months...

I'm am with you on the aspartame. I gave up all diet drinks etc at Easter and now won't touch anything with it in.

Tesco do flavoured fizzy water (about 40p) which is free on SW and does not contain aspartame. It's very tasty - especially the apple&raspberry one. I have it when I fancy something fizzy.

I do find it a struggle when I'm out though as nto all places have soda water

Hi, no problem. Although I wouldn't really call it a recipe! I just put some wholewheat flour in a bowl (as I didn't have chapatti flour), a pinch of salt, and enough water to make it into a dough - stirring with a knife till it comes together.

Knead it for a bit. I then get a nice chunk of dough and roll it out, then cook in a hot non stick pan on both side till it puffs up a bit.

Not very exact, or authentic probably, but they work for me and I really liike them! Great to soak up that curry sauce :p

thanks - I'm going to hunt out the Tesco wholewheat flour that is a HEB!

Can i ask does anyone know the syns in an Innocent Smoothie (small bottle)? got one free the other day so i'm drinking it to make up for the fact that i have no fruit in the house.

BettyB - have you got the receipe for the lentil, chickpea and courgette curry please?? Thanks:beer:

As usual, I just made it up as I went along! Sorry there aren't exact measures, in that I just used what there was (like half an onion left in the fridge!) and seasoned it to tase, but here's the rough guide/ingredients list:

half a big Onion (or 1 small-ish one)
couple of bits of Garlic (i like my food garlicky!)
half a red chilli (more if you want it spicier)
cook in non stick pan till softened

add 2 tsp of coriander and cumin
1 tsp tumeric and paprika (also add chilli powder instead of fresh if you'd rather)
cook for a minute till fragrant

add a big corgette chopped into large chunks
add lentils (I used a cup and made enough curry for four / five people!)
add some tinned tomatoes and enough water to cover everything
drain a small tin of chickpeas and chuck them in too!

Cook for half an hour or longer if you want it mushier.
add a bit of salt and pepper
Right at the end I stirred through half a sachet of creamed coconut which is 8.5 syns (so works out at just over 2 syns if you split it into 4 servings)

Had it with boiled rice and a tesco light choices mini naan (7.5 syns, which is a lot but I love those little naans - but from now on I will be making my own chappatis thanks to bluebell!!)

    Hello all,
I have been reading the thread for a few days. You all seem a great bunch, so I would like to join in please! I lost two stone using SW about 7 years ago, after I had my daughter, so I know it works. I put on quite a lot of weight after the birth of my son, went back to SW classes last year but didn't stick with it. I am very busy (I teach and have two young kids) and couldn't always get to class, which I am afraid I used as an excuse to let things slip.
I would like to do my own weigh in each week and contribute/get support here. Is there anyone else doing their own weigh in who would like to team up? I can weigh in any day, so can celebrate or commiserate as needed!
I am staying with family in the US at the moment but will be back in England on Friday, so have been plotting and planning. I have a list of meal ideas and a shopping list ready to go. I feel really positive about this.
I read somewhere this week that there is 20 weeks left of 2010 (haven't checked this!). 40 lbs is about what I need to lose, so I could just about do it by the beginning of 2011 at the rate of 2lbs a week (that was my average last time).
Looking forward to getting to know you all,
    Liz

Hi Lbn [bit of a mouthful, can we call you Liz?] welcome2.gif

I am at target and have done it all at home with all the support coming from this forum. Don't think I've really thanked everyone [some not been on here for a while so can't thank them] enough for ALL the support. Don't really know if I could have stuck to it without you all so
