Well done Dizzy B:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Darnit - well done - that's a great loss!
Screamer - if your exercising loads - your body may be gaining muscle. I know my SW Consultant said that when she first starting exercising; she couldn't lose any weight for a few weeks and then it started falling off her!
SW Mina - I make chocolate scan bran cake - 9 syns for the whole cake! Break up 5 scan bran into small pieces and leave to soak in boiling water. Drain the scan bran of the water and add half a mug full of sweetner, 1 tablespoon golden syrup, 1 oz of cocoa and 3 beaten eggs. Then stick in the microwave for 7 minutes on high! It freezes very well.
Does anyone know how many syns the white chocolate buttons are with hundreds and thousands on them?? DH eats them and they are called "snowies" and they are so yummy but unfortunately they have no nutritional information on the back.0 -

I layer quark or thick yoghurt with various salady things, lots of flavours, all piled on top like an open sandwich, and make sure you have a BIG glass of water to swill it down with.
Lentils, yum yum, why not make a dhal, Greenpixey? Just google for recipes and remember if it mentions oil you only use your frylight or spray oil, right? Otherwise just do as they say, make it as spicy or unspicy as you want. If you cook it until it is quite dry, I believe you can let it cool (or use next day) and form into pattie shapes and dry fry or grill and they'd be like ... those little Middle Eastern snacks whose name escapes me at the moment! To get the real Indian restaurant taste I'd recommend getting yourself some fenugreek seeds and, if possible, dried fenugreek to sprinkle in, it just adds that je ne sais quois!
Consultant thank you, I know there's reasons behind it all and I am really good and even gave away my smoothie maker (!) and it does work if one doesn't break the rules, etc, etc.!
Just found this receipe for Lentil Dhal off the SW website
Serves 4
Free on Green and Extra Easy
7 syns on Original
Prep & Cooking Time - 2 hours
198g/7oz dry red split lentils
1 onion finely slice
4 garlic cloves crushed
568ml/1 pint water
0.5 tsp whole cumin seeds
1 tsp crushed coriander seeds
1 green chilli, deseeded and finely chopped
0.5 tsp finely grated root giner
pinch of salt
1 small red chilli, deseeded and thinly sliced
2 tbsps finely chopped coriander leaves
Pick over the red lentils to remove any gritty bits, then wash them in cold water and drain well, set aside
Put the onion, garlic and 284ml/0.5 pint of the water in a large heavy saucepan. Cover the pan and bring to the boil. Boil for 10 minutes then uncover and cook gently over very low heat for 20 minutes until the onions are tender, golden and syruply.
Add the cumin, coriander seeds, green chilli and giner. Stir well and cook gently for 2-3 minutes.
Add the lentils, salt and remaining water, and bring to the boil. Cover the pan and reduced the heat to a bare simmer and cook for about one-one and a quarter hours until the lentils are cooked and tender. Check the pan occasionally and add more water if the lentils and onions are starting to stick to the base of the pan.
Stir well and serve hot, sprinkled with the thinly sliced chilli and chopped coriander leaves0 -
if you have the honey nut shredded wheat as a heB you have to have a ryvita or something too ?? didnt take a huge amount of notice as i dont eat that cereal and cant find it in my book so may be talking out of my ariss !!!Vixie_Pixie wrote: »It was me!
you have to have 1 w/g crackerbread with it
i have mine with nutella or chopped banana or flavoured quark or jam.. the possibilities are endless lol
Oh bum, that's another things I've missed!!Thanks for the info both of you. I've just had a [STRIKE]piece of cardboard[/STRIKE] scanbran with a cheese triangle (part of my HEA) squished on top as I don't have any ryvita crackerbread thingies, hopefully that's ok??

well done Ali. I would say, in 20 years of making dhal, I gave up doing that "picking over" thing after the first week, I've never found any gritty bits! Also, I make it in a big bowl (so it doesn't boil over) in the microwave just under full power and it takes half the time and isn't so likely to stick.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

How long do you do it in the microwave for and what power do you use?? Thanks:beer:0 -
*ahem* as I said, just under full power
(use full power to get it to the boil, then simmer just under full power). Sorry, I'm not good at giving recipes because I cook by eye and I do it "until it's done". You know when it's ready because it looks and smells right. Well, and tastes right too

thank you Slimming World!

I made the fruit roulade tonight. As it was only 1/2 a sin for the whole roulade - my DH and I had seconds and ate the lot.
Well worth the effort. :rotfl:
I lined the baking tray with grease proof, and found it very easy to roll.
Feeling stuffed now but I am sure I will find room later for a Fibre bar;)0 -

Or you can make soup? I like lentil and carrot, but it's more a winter soup than summer.
