Morning All
Glad you're feeling a bitter better today LynzIm a nightmare if I get let out for the day....I seem to spend my money on stuff whether I need it or not....Or whether I have the funds or not
Its actually been cheaper for me now I cant get out on my own (OH is VERY good at mse (git lol) he leaves a notepad on the table and we jot stuff down as we run out/run low, we check on mysupermarket before setting off out to see wheres got the offers on, and he takes advantage of bulk offers-
If I want a tin of beans-thats what I get.....and then another one 3 days later, If he sees an offer we might end up with a 3x4 tin multipack.....but hes saved quite bit. :A
Trixie - I know what you mean about the 'constant' shopping killing the budget ..... thats one of the reasons I started getting my berries frozen, as they just werent lasting long enough in their fresh state:undecided Ive not got a solution tho for the salady stuff......hate to say this but roll on casserole and stew weather lol :rotfl:that seems to be cheaper0 -
Morning everyone
Food today is -
B - Mullerlight and satsumas (earliest I have ever managed to eat breakkie (8am!!) so pat on the back for me )
L - Slice of ham with carrot, celery, carrot and radishes. Watermelon, strawbs and rasberries to last through the day
T - Beef and veg curry (loads of veg!) with rice (made far too much last night)
Snacks/Syns - 2 sugars (2) Fibre plus (Heb)
Need to find something to use syns on but will probably save them til after tea.
On the subject of shopping budget I personally find it cheaper eating healthy than how I was eating before. I am buying much more fruit and veg but my mid week shopping trips are defintely cheaper than before when it was ''i'll just nip for some wine to go with tea'' and end up picking up loads of things we didn't need like garlic bread, treats , crisps etc and spend £20+ a time a few times a week. That just shows how much cr*p i was eating before i suppose and why I am here now!
I tend to buy a big good value joint of meat for sunday (this week was beef silverside for £7.00) which lasts both of us for a meal on sunday, sandwiches for 2 days for OH, salad for 2 days of me and usually Mon or Tuesdays tea. I worked out that this £7.00 joint of meat has made 8 meals. If I roast a chicken that usually makes the same amount of meals and I make stock out of the carcass. I also check through the fridge and freezer before doing the shopping list as I hate throwing anything away so everything that needs using up first is on the menu for earlier week meals
I try and buy whoopsied fruit when I see it and take advantage of the market we have in town which is much cheaper than supermarkets. I also grow my own, we have a very very small back yard but have grown things in pots. So far we have 8 tomato plants, loads of chilli and pepper plants, sweetcorn, baby sweetcorn, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, courgettes, green beans, p sprouting broccoli, lettuce, spinach and herbs. Granted there is now no room for wheelie bins or much else but it's fab, I have my name down for an allotment but they are like gold dust around here.

Should we share offers for MSE SW friendly food?
Someone mentioned Co-op for mullers so I went and got some yesterday- £1.50 for 5
Whilst I was there I saw that they had Batchelors supernoodles, savoury rice and pasta and sauce BOGOF, I think that the rice was 68p for 2, cheapest I have seen. Other than that home bargains normally has pasta and sauce for about 50p a packet, I have one for lunch with a side salad or side dish of veggies and it work out pretty cheaply for me.God is good, all the time

DizzyK - yes roll on winter:T I love winter food and yes much cheaper IMO.
Grrr the box of nectarines I bought yesterday are rock hard so can't eat them, I think the mango is too.
I too have some frozen berries but the raspberries are now gone and only have a few cherries left. I don't like defrosted strawberries because of the soggyness other fruit I can deal with thoughCan't get fresh strawberries anymore
they are not in any of the shops.
Just done 10 mins on the bike so food for today..
B - 2 toast & mushrooms (B+F)
L - Spanish omelette & salad (F)
Mid Aft - bowl of fruit (F)
another 10 mins on the bike.
D - Veg chilli & JP (F) butter (1.5)
Even - fruit & fake vanilla cream (F)
Only 6 syns to have today as I went over yesterday as I ran out of my fake cream so had strawberry quark (3) and half a yog (1) extra instead.
Will do some Pilates to do some toning too today (I've been telling myself for the past week I will do this)
Have to plan some lessons today as I've been asked to cover summer school lessons until the end of August. 7 & 8 yr olds so we can play games in English - my fav age group. The extra money will probably be spent on fruit and veg :rotfl:

Morning!
Busy day today so hopefulyl that means I'll have no time to eat any syns!
I'll just post my mealplan quickly:
EE day (as usual)
brek - Cereal and skim milk (1/2 heb and a) grapes
snack - alpen light (1/2 heb) and a banana
lunch - beans on toast with a bit of cheese (1/2 hea - forgot to buy half fat cheese though so I can only have half as much!)
snack - cherry tomatoes
dinner - not sure - got a strange mixture of stuff in the fridge - mainly chicken, courgette, quaaaaark and onion. Not sure I can make anything out of that!!! might try to do pasta with courgette, onion and garlic and syn a bit of oil (2.0 for a tsp)

I think thats a brill idea to swap MSE SW food Sian...
Sainsburys had Muller lights 4 for £1
Also one of my little MSE things is Value bacon. Most supermarkets sell their own version, the Morrisons one is £1.13 for 500g i think. Its vac packed and usually very thick slices of bacon, like end joints from the slicer you need to have a rummage through them to find the best ones. We sometimes have this as gammon (taken all fat off obviously) with SW chips and salad, much cheaper than gammon and my OH prefers it, like a big bacon chop I suppose. Often I take all the fat off and cut into small dice similar to pancetta and this makes 3 portions for me and OH to use in things like spag bol, quiche, pasta etc, would be really good with SW carbonaraSW started 28.06.10 - 4, -7.5, -1.5, -2.5, -1, -1and 1/4, -3, +3.5, -2.50 -
Morning ladies, I was in Morrisons last night and they had the fibre plus bars on BOGOF. There were 2 varieties, I'm not sure if the dark choc and almond ones count as a HEB but they are only 4 kcals more than the others and the same amount of fibre so I don't see why not! Got the parents round for tea tonight, forgot about making a pud so was up at 6am making fruit jelly as its the only healthy thing I had in!! We'll hopefully go for a walk before we eat too. Here's my plan for today:
Brekkie - porridge (HEA&B) and banana
Lunch - salad, dressing (1), mackeral in tom sauce, small jacket potato, yogurt with mixed berries.
Tea - pork, mash, gravy (2.5), stuffing (2.5), veggies (home grown!!), fruit jelly (need to check syns for Sugar free jelly), yogurt, lemon curd (1)
Snacks - plum, nectarine.
WI tomorrow night.....eeeeeeek!!!0 -
Asda had:
6 pack mullers (normally £2.84) any 2 for £5
ainsley cous cous, chilli, and lemon mint & parsley 50p
blue dragon stir fry sachets any 5 for £20 -
My grocery shopping tends to be a bit hit and miss. If I plan and stick to it, then I can go through all of fruit and veg - needing to top up later in the week. If I have a busy week I tend to be rushing around and there is plenty left over and it tends to go off by the time I get around to it.
I'm applying for jobs again today, I'm getting too bored sat around the house! Meeting my mom in town later, so I will try my best to avoid those pesky faries!
I'm really happy this week as I've had a few good days of sticking to the plan, although I seem to be wasting syns on sugar in my cups of tea! Is sweetener free on the SW plan? I'm following extra easy.:)0
