So glad someone identifies
Its a nightmare actually, Im spending more than I ever have in my life on food.
I dont really need to lose any more but I need to maintain.
Right now the cupboards are bare and I spent almost 40 quid this weekend and its almost gone.
I have again ran out of yoghurt, cottage cheese, fruit, etc etc.
I have bananas but I cant eat more than one a day or Ill gain? These are the cheapest really?
Tonight its chicken legs and salad but tomorrow, well theres a bean burgerpasta but nothing to go with it, rice but nothing to go with it.
Stop moaning lynz! It is not looking good thoughI might be but the bank balance is not!
i'm exactly the same hun and my kids won't eat all that sort of food so i am buying and cooking for them.
i didn't join to lose weight , it was more to sort out my really rubbish diet , but the more i spend the more it's making me feel what's the point ??
it is nice to come on here and talk to others though , i am on my own at the group and the only 2 ladies my age are already best buddies so i haven't really found anyone to talk to (and boy i can talk :rotfl:)
i need a cow in the back garden so i can have fat free cottage cheese, fromage frais and natural yogurt , that'd ease the burden0 -
Lol. Maybe ill ask for a cow for my birthday!
Do you have weight to lose mummy? I dont anymore but I know left to my own devices what I will eat and I will get back to my porky and quite unhappy state pretty soon. I have been going through some old pics and its like fat-thin-fat-thin-fat-thin.
I knwo what I do, get thin then eat the same old crap again. But right now, I honestly dont think I can afford not to?!
Maybe I need to do more green days? jacket potatoes for breakfast dinner and tea!! and I dont have to dig deep for the 1/3rd superfree? Or do I ( not sure lol) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I find to ease the burden of fruit and veg costs is that i grow my own. I'm very lucky to have an allotment which is has plenty of fruit and veg. I've only had to buy stuff like ginger and peppers (as mine aren't ready yet) but i haven't had to buy anything else.
I know allotment plots are not easy to obtain but if you have garden space or even a patio you can save so much money by growing your own (and you can get the kids to help with planting seeds and watering!) I save all my yogurt pots and tubs that my mushrooms come in and we have a compost heap so we don't have to buy too much dirt to grow stuff in!All hail to the sale!!!!!!

I have been growing my own on the roof terrace. Most of the peas and the tomatos got totally frazzled although we did grow salad which worked quite well, and the sweetcorn and peppers have been fine, but Im eating 2, 3 peppers a day and I cant grow them fast enough, spring onions ditto I grew potatoes, they took 6 months, we ate them in 5 sittings. Carrots, likewise!
Theres no chance of an allotment in london so Im pleased with what Ive done but i spent out more on the compost, pots etc than I recouped in the value of the fruit and veg. It was really a fun experiment tho, and not about moneysaving. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? unfortunately i don't have a garden as such , more of a yard and my eldest has turned it into a motorbike workshop
lynz i am a sz14 at the mo but have been from a 10 to a sz 18
my ideal is a 12 , any lighter and i look ill.
i guess i need to drop about 7-10 lbs ??
my consultant isn't too helpful to be honest,
i do all green days as i like to be able to have 2 healthy extras and i don't eat much meat anyway
extra easy is a bit odd to me
my consultant said we have to eat a third superfree whatever plan we follow but that doesn't match what the older books from last year say so i really don't know
i've only been doing it 3 wks so don't know if it is working yet but on my first WI i lost 0.5 lb !!!
any ideas are helpful0 -
Lynz
why dont you batch cook a massive spag bol to portion up in the freezer? it works out cheap and with the carrot, celery, onion, toms that go in it you're pretty much there with the 1/3 superfree (you can get 2 big bags of clementines at asda for £2 to have a couple of them for pud as a top up)
big bags of pasta are real cheap too.
a few green days a week may not be a bad idea either to cut the pennies, a few Jps and beans or even good old egg chips and beans. and try having something like weetabix instead of the alpen bars (I get 48 weetabix for £3 at asda....dont know what you pay for the bars?)
My berries Ive been buying frozen lately as its worked out cheaper on the offers ive found
have you acces to the SW website? theres a student section....a weeks menu with a tesco shopping list on there for just £32 (everything you need....plus there are some things you will have left over!!
If you cant access it I can try post it on here ?0 -

Thats a shame. I know how hard it is to get an allotment in London - they are like gold dust. All hail to the sale!!!!!!

I only have a big balcony....well- Isay big Its about 30ft long but only 3ft wide :oIve got some tomatoes and herbs on the go at the mo but not much else.
Our last consultant was really pretty rubbish.....she didnt fill you with any inspiration at all(she only took over the class till they found a replacement.......they lost over half of the members in that time!) The new one is Fab tho - it makes such a big difference if the consultant makes the class fun and helps you;)

Try home bargains too if you have one, the boxes are 99p in there too. And they sometimes sell the loose bars for 25p each so still cheaper than supermarkets. I'm not a huge fan of eating Alpen lights as they seem very processed and sweet, but they can be a god send when I'm needing something to munch on in work. I've always got one in my handbag and my desk drawer. As I'm out and about lots in work it helps to have one in the handbag!
