  • Hi all, i have been directed here by a fellow MSE'er bubbles1984 who has kindly replied to my post!

My sil has had her booking in app this morning with teh midwife. She is overweight, she wasnt before, but an influx of kids 4,3 and 11 months have seen her put on, and never shift about 4stone. She is down enough already about her weight but the midwife has told her she should consider slimming worlds programme for pregnant women. TBH she was shocked as she (as did i) always thought dieting whist preg was not encouraged ( i know when i had my last 18 months ago it was not advised - regardless of size)

Anyway, could any of you wonderful ppl give us some info on the slimming world preg plan... she is on the way to mine now for a brew and i said we would find a local class etc (she was keen to start loosing the weight prior to finding out they were expecting)

Does the plan actually mena you loose weight whilst pregnant, or is it about maintaining weight whilst preg? I did sw a few years ago, so have some basic knowledge - although i understand its changed somewhat.

How does it differ from the normal plan?

As long as she has her midwives consent can she join sw whilst preg or does she need to have been attending prior to her getting preg?

    Thanks so much!

    Anna x

    Thanks everyone!

    Morning ladies.

I don't know anything about the SW pregnancy plan but my Aunty did either SW or WW whilst pregnant with my cousin and when her baby was born she was slimmer than I've ever known her...and had a perfectly healthy baby.

Tea at mum's tonight, I've been instructed to call at Morrisons on the way, apparently they have raspberries on offer for £1.

Here's the meal plan for today (I think it's green!):

Brekkie - 2 boiled eggs, 1 slice of toast (HEB)
Lunch - leftover tomato & basil risotto and roasted veg, yogurt, mixed berries
Tea - shepherds pie, veg, potatoes, gravy (2.5), fruit for pud and probably some yogurt
    Snacks - banana, plums, nectarine
HEA will be milk in tea and possibly a smidge of cheese on the shepherds pie.

Hopefully we'll have a walk too.

I think when you join you get a special book explaining the differences between the normal plan and when pregnant, and I think the midwife has to 'sign you off' every so often to say she is still ok and baby is ok too. I think you can still loose weight while pregnant.. as long as you had excess unhealthy weight there in the first place. I would find a group and then give the consultant a ring and have a little chat :)

The fast forward plan is an absolute last resort. Its for when people who have been following SW 100% are unable to lose weight.
It is not given out very often as it's a very restrictive plan.
It really is for when all else fails. you are only allowed to use it for short periods of time.
From what i have read on mini mins it's really not something i would like to try.

Low fat creme fraiche isn't free & some l/fat varieties can still be quite high. The WW one is only 1/2 per tablespoon

    Morning

Well done on your loss Laura - and everyone else!

Ended up having seabass and potatoes last night - was was nice but drenched in oil and fat. Never mind it was still nice to eat out and have something different from my usual pizza/creamy pasta.

Does anyone know how synful mexican food is in general?

I'm going to Wahaca at the weekend and it's Mexican street food, lots of mini bits for sharing like tapas, so quite spicy, chicken, black beans, mini soft tacos, salsa, avocado etc? On the fact of it it seems ok apart from the taco bread which i'll syn and probably chilli oil.

Today I haven't got a proper plan really which is dangerous but I am seriously running out of ideas/inspiration/food supplies!

Probably will have heB bread with egg and bacon in a bit, then if I have time later I might actually get around to doing cous cous frittas (every time i plan it I am too busy and end up with supernoodles as a last resort!)

Dinner's going to be a HM risotto with green veg and a bit of creme fraiche (is low fat creme fraiche free???)
And of course Muller for dessert (loving NY cheesecake flavour 1 syn and vanilla and choc and the mo!)

Thanks! Have a happy Friday :)

ok thanks. I am a bit confused about those kinds of food and what is and isn't free
    I know quark is free
What i dont know about is low fat cream cheese, low far fromage frais, low fat greek yog(total 0%) half fat creme fraiche, natural yoghurt etc.
There are so many varieties of this kind of thing - dairy/cream/chees pots

I also get confused by what to use and when - do i use low fat yog for dips, pasta sauces, curry sauces, and in place of tzatsiki/sour cream... or do I need quark for that (which none of my local shops sell)???

Can anyone help me with this? I'm getting so confused and doing things wrong I think.:(

There is no special pregnacy plan as far as i know. A lady in my group is pregnant & she is just following the basic plan as really it is just good heathy eating with a lot free foods she will not go hungry.

However once she has had the baby & if she is breastfeeding the consultants give you a leaflet explaining to have more Healthy extras ( especially milk & cheese for the calcium)

If she looks up online & gets the phone number for her local consultant she could have a chat before she decides to join.
