Hi Everyone,
This is my first post so be kind!
I'm starting SW after getting to goal on Weight Watchers and unfortunately gaining a couple of stone since then. I took up running (did London marathon this year and a couple of half-maras) but that meant I needed to eat more to fuel my training so WW just didn't work...was told at my meetings to eat less carbs but it's carbs that give runners the energy to run. So, I've decided to give Green days on SW a go - I don't eat much meat anyway so from what I've read Green seems best and so long as I can have plenty of pasta, rice and jacket potatoes I'll still be able to complete my long training runs. I want to lose weight but I don't want to diet. I'm an expert dieter in that I've lost loads of weight loads of times in my life but I've never managed to keep it off. I guess you could call me an unintentional yo-yo dieter. For every pound I lose I seem to regain about a pound and a half which is depressing to say the least! I'm hoping that SW will be a sensible eating plan for life that will compliment my very active lifestyle.
The stats: 5'8", 13st10.
Thanks in advance for any comments and advice - especially from fellow runners and ppl who have struggled to maintain.0 -
Hi running_em
I do some running but only 5k a couple of times a week. Last time I really struggled with having the energy to run until I rethought the whole banana before I go green day carbs stuff and then I was fine.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Thanks Hex2 - it's a bit weird going from a Weight Watchers "count everything" mentality to a SW "eat loads of free food"! I'll trust it and see how it works...0

I am sure you already have but make sure you read and understand what is free and then eat as much of that as you can, and balance it with lots of superfree stuff so you dont just eat pasta. Wheetabix for breakfast and then a banana works for me but then I dont run at your level. I make sure soemthing is prepped ready for me to eat when I get back.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

Thing is tho, I'd have to syn myself for milk - I drink a lot of tea. Perhaps will have a proper EE week next week and see if that makes any difference.
I always have milk for my HEA I use skimmed anyway. If you dont have cereal then I have more than enough milk per day ( about a pint) for all my brews
Im not a fan of cheese thou so no real contest:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

The 1st time around I did green with no super frees ie just a bowl of pasta/beans. This could have been the cause of my IBS as never had anything like it before sw. This time around I still have the pasta but add super frees like onions, toms, mushrooms. I'm also having more fruit every day this time.
Now I'm at target I may try to do more ee so can encourage hubby and hopefully he will lose weight. I will also try to plan more meals with him in mind.
Wish me luck :rotfl:
Hey
Well talking of which, I am doing most of the cooking round here due to SW. Tonight I did roasted in frylite new potatoes ( baking sheet/ foil) flat mushrooms in the george forman ( again!) A lovely mixed crunchy s salad and baby corn peas and a steak. All SW style, 0 syns for the meal , at least 1.3rd superfree!. OH loved it. It was good!
Could eat that every day:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
