I wonder if any of you fellow slimming world members out there can give me some good tips to snack on when I get in from work, or ways to take my mind off naughty food when I'm at home, to stick to my plan. I'm really beginning to think I've got a problem with it. I know it's bad for me, and I know I'll be depressed about it when I've eaten it, but I just do it anyway.

I desperately want to lose weight and inches before my holiday, so any advice would really be appreciated.

    Julie :o

That used to be my problem before I started SW, i have only been doing it a few weeks so my advice might be a bit obvious but I do find it easier to wait for tea and not snack on 'bad' things if I have had a filling lunch. If i go all day with just a ham salad and fruit for example I am starving by the time I get home so I try and make sure to have a small amount of carbs with lunch, just a few new pots or maybe left over pasta bake or a cold rice salad. Sometimes I save my HEa+b for some ryvita and laughing cow triangles with a piece of fruit when I get home from work and that usually keeps me going. Other than that you could obviously snack on free fruit and veg or of you are going to have a bag of crisps go for a bag of french fries or similar and count the syns (only 4 or 4.5) I love mini milk for after my tea, they help satisfy sweet cravings and are only 1.5 syns

    I hope it helps :)

    Well done Rupe!

I'm just back from my WI and have lost 1lb since I last weighed in two weeks ago ....

So I am delighted as I gained 3lb at a summer ball weekend (weekend before last) so I have shed that plus 1lb, which is amazing!

I also got my half stone award - 8 weeks since I started, so slow going, but at least it is going :-)

Hi, can I ask....if you do extra easy and you didn't make 1/3 of your plate superfree food....would you still lose weight??

    Just wondered , thanks:)

I imagine you would if you were careful but a lot slower than if you had 1/3 superfree, if you didn't have 1/3 superfree you would consume more carbs, protein and therefore calories than if you filled up on the free stuff which kind of goes against the whole SW food optimising ethos IMO
Just my opinion, i'm certainly no expert!! :)

JAM99 - I'm a snacker... which is when I fall into the naughty food eating. I try now to keep food in the fridge that I can go to and eat or just have a few mouthfuls.

At the moment I have a tub of chicken flavour vegetable rice that I just take a spoon or 3 of when I'm having a snack attack. Or slices of ham, chuncks of flavoured (cajun, piri piri, tikka) chicken, pasta salad or pre chopped fruit. I've made it all myself so I know it is free stuff and won't harm my weightloss for that week.

I tried quark with an choc options sachet mixed in today for the first time.... yummy yum. Good for when I get a sweet snack attack (I'm generally savoury)

Fast forward plan until thursday - Friday will be back to normal as dress fitting in town (jacket pot & beans for lunch! with Coffee!) & can treat myself to a SW friendly takaeaway. I am getting a little annoyed with having to measure absolutley everything! Be nice not to.

But i do reccommend to anyone who is getting annoyed and not loosing as much as they would like to drink more water - i have to drink 500ml each morning, afternoon and evening - i reckon it had something to do with my slow weight loss before (never been a great drinker in any sense!)

    Mcdonalds Chocolate Milkshake

    Small - 10.5 syns
    Medium - 19 syns
    Large - 25.5 syns

You will probably be better off with McFlurry

Dairy Milk - 16 syns each
    Crunchie - 16 syns each
    Smarties - 15.5 syns each

Thanks for that - gutted they are soo high but guess the bad but tasaty stuff has to be otherwise it wouldn't be bad !

Think al stick to a bottle of diet coke and a alpen light

    B , 28grm porridge oats (HEB need + 1 oat/scan bran) with milk from 250 SS allowence (HEA) ,
10grm of sultanas , Whats the syns for this please ? You might want to rethink this- 100g is 14 syns. nearly all your daily allowance

L , jacket potato with very low fat cottage cheese , salad of toms , cuc and peppers , One activa multipack yoghurt FF All free so fine

2 rich tea biscuits these are 2 syns each
    apple

dinner Stuffed pepper with Batchelors savoury rice ,
Small chicken breast (HEB 71g cooked weight?) and a sugar free jelly with frozen summer fruit in . (1.5syns for full pint)
thats all i have planned so far
    Do i have all my A's and B's ?
I'd appreciate any feedback , thanks xx
You would be having 19.5 syns with this meal plan, assuming you are having all the jelly and not sharing it:)

Hi, just some observations in red.

You would be better leaving out the sultanas or having less. If you had only 50g it would be 12.5 syns for the day (again, assuming you are eating all the jelly!)

Make sure you have at least 1/3 superfree food (veg/fruit) per meal. You don't have to with green/original but you get a better loss.

Oh, and you are missing a HEA, but the second HEA is optional :)

You can get oat/scan bran from health food shops if you aren't going to a class.

*edit* just re-read and realised you said 10g not 100g! I did think that was a lot of sultanas :p 10g would be 1.5 syns! Which is obviously way better! Apologies for my mis-reading :p That would give you 7 syn for the day :)

Hi and welcome to the thread.

Sultanas are 4 syns for 28gms so your 10 gms would be about 2 syns. Rich tea biscuits are around 2 syns each and SF jelly is 2 syns a sachet so depending how much of the jelly you had, your syn count for the day is quite low. You're allowed between 5 and 15 syns a day so enjoy them.

Don't allow yourself to feel deprived or hungry because there's so much you can eat. Depriving yourself won't make the weight come off faster, but is more likely to lead to you giving up and eating everything in sight :)

Good luck with your operation, I'm sure that by September you will have easily lost that 2 stone and maybe a little more besides ;)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
