I have not realy formulated any plans as to how Im going to lose weight other than a rather simplistic "eat less".
I have stocked the freezer with frozen veg and chicken and not bought any bread.( Im a big sandwich eater)

Silly question time, what is the shred, references to reseting to day one and last but not least a board where people post their weight for comparison.
    Thanks

shredding is a term originating from the body building scene i believe, its when they spend 4-6 weeks loosing as much fat as possible just before competing to get maximum definition, the term seams to have been picked up now by the health industry in general

i would suggest going for 33% protein 33% healthy oils / fats 33% carbs as a starting place for any weight loss program, try to make sure that the carbs you do eat are low GI, you can still have bread just make sure its in controlled amounts, you can get burgen soya and linsed bread in many supermarkets in the uk, its extremely low GI

Well overslept so my run has been deferred till lunchtime.

I am in the UK and got my ostrich burgers at the local farmer's market in Bucks. I agree with what Eric says, very tasty. Thiink I'm going to see if there is a slightly cheaper source for them as £5.50 for 4 is not MSE.

Well done for trying to stick with your exercise regime Vixstar. I have a love/hate relationship with my gym and will go for weeks going 3 times a week and loving it then suddenly get fed up (like now) till I start feeling a bit like a wobbly bowl of jelly then I start going again! I love spin class and aerobics but they are on at awkward times of the day - as discussed peviously I am going to try to take up running as you can do that whenever/wherever!!

Hi Frank, and welcome! You'll find plenty of inspiration and advice here. We're all following different plans and have different amounts to lose. And no one judges you if you have a bad day or need to start again.

Alona... Nice One!... not for eating loads of krap obviously, but nice one for gettting straight back on track again so quickly:-)

BettyB - re: pizza express/strada. One tip that they made on biggest loser usa about eating out was to look at the menu online in advance and decide what you are having before you go. that way you wont be rushed into a decision on the spot and will reduce the temptation. They also suggested to ask for any sauces to be served "on the side".

Vixstar - good luck with the chocolate thing, I really thought that chocolate would be my biggest temptation but so far, touch wood, that hasnt been the case.

Might need a spot of extra willpower on Thursday, yours truly turns 38 and in previous years has celebrated (in typical tea-totaller style) with coffee and birthday cake however it hasnt just ended being a piece but the majority of it, like 8 or 10 slices, or whatevers left of it when visitors have stopped "visiting". Anyway this year the plan is to get just one small chocolate rice crispie, bun sized cake instead, but that means that i wont have anything to share if anybody comes round and i'll feel a bit mean that way which i really really dont like, so the plan might all go to pot before then if the willpower doesnt hold out, so will just see what happens, watch this space! lol...
and with that in mind good luck to you Mazza for Friday, your lurpack and birthday cake day!

I often do look up the menu first, and plan to have something sensible. The problem is when you're there everyone else is ordering lovely cheesy pizzas and you wanna join in! :rotfl:

Didn't go in the end, got rescheduled. So OH brought home a takeaway! Lovely though. Day 1 today, apparently yesterday was day 0. :rotfl:

Puddings, I know how you feel about birthday cake. Cake is one of my biggest weaknesses. All I can think is to perhaps buy / make some cake for when the visitors come and make sure you always give them a bigger slice than yourself. Then hopefully by the end of the day your guests will have eaten most of it for you!!!

Going to stick with SW now, as I know I can do it. Got lots of fruit in and Mr T is bringing my lean meat and low fat dairy tonight. also I am going to join Vix in giving up choc for a month. Had some yesterday and realised that I have got to the point, yet again, where I am addicted to it like it's crack or something! Cold turkey now, no choc till the 4th September.

    B.
PS - got on the scales this morning, and I'm 2lb lighter than yesterday morning! Can a cup of tea and some Weetabix really wiegh 2lb??!! :rotfl: From now on I am weighing in first thing, before anything has passed my lips!

Oh well done on your loss neilersmc!

-4.5LB hooray!!!Was really pleased especially since hosted a pampered chef cooking party thing on saturday night but managed to save all syns for cider - did not realise how high it was ! - must look at diet friendly alcohol as think its a bit unrealuistic to give it up altogether! Well done to everyone ele as well. Really enjoying following the thread distracts me when the need for cheese arises !!
    :o Shopping challenge Jan 11 - £350/250 so far!
    :jWeight challenge Jan11
Saved so far - big fat 0
  • Good luck betty with re starting SW. I was going to do that this week but have been hit by and infection and feel fairly lousy and intermittantly need lots of food. Not the time for any discipline.

Well done mommychaos on your 1st weigh in:T

Vixstar - £5.50 for 4 ostrich burgers is only not MSE if you find them cheaper elsewhere.

Beanie - welcome back! That went quickly: glad you had a restful time:T
Sary how's things going with DS2? Nw the intitial 'not doing the gigs' punishment is out the way, is he benefitting from the extra support from the outside agencies and his job? I know it must have been tough in a way standing by your OH decision not to allow him to go, but in the other hand, you were demonstrating/ rolemodelling good adult relationships with your partner, and of course you 2 youngest would have been taking all this in as well. Must be so tough being mum in the midle though.

Vixarooni - have you moved back home yet? Hope this proves to work well for you both.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

interesting article, supports most of the things i have been bleating on about, eat lean protein, water does nothing for hunger, food suspended in a liquid (soup) controls hunger better than solid food and eat low GI carbs like oats

Hi all. Reporting in with a 4.4lbs loss this week please. Actually that is a bit of a fib - I didn't post my weight last week because it was up 2lbs which was not fair relative to the week I had had. Also i was jumping from SOTW to a again (again!) which seemed silly. I think i might have been being too purist and not eating enough. Anyway, having relazed the reigns a little, it is a good loss over 2 weeks (or 13 days if you are counting as I brought forward my weigh in by a day).

I have been doing really well getting back into exercise. I cycled 10km on the new cycle hire bikes in Central London yesterday lunch time - then went for a run in the evening! I am done-in today though!
