i know exactly what you mean, most people that can get so much time away are much older than 50. ok I'm lucky that am under 50 and work for myself so can clear off whenever i want, but then they want applications in twos and none of my fattish friends would be able to just take a month off work, so i applied on my own anyway, but know really that its a non starter (but would have been fun!)

On the last series they put two blokes who didn't know each other together as a pair so it could still happen! They must realise a lot of people don't apply because of the couples aspect so maybe they will pair up more single applicants this time around?

Moved back with my family in May and have gone from my ultra healthy Uni life style(lost a stone this year and got really toned, just naturally ate and lived so healthy and active, and I felt so good) to getting lifts to work everyday and eating the same stodgy meals as my family who are all much taller and bigger built than me.
I've only put on 6lbs, but I've lost a lot of muscle and got so flabby that 80% of my clothes don't fit and it's really getting me down. Probably sounds like I'm being pathetic over such a small amount but I've never had much self confidence and all the complaining and crying is driving both me and my boyfriend crazy!

I need to lose my flab before I go back to University in two months so
    1) I can concentrate on building up some real muscle again
    2) I fit into all my clothes
    3) I feel better and bloody cheer up!

I remember this too - think one of the guys actually went on to win it. I would love to find the courage to apply for this, but i think i would just be far too self concious knowing that it will be going on the telly. [STRIKE]Eric[/STRIKE] PUDDINGS, really hope you get through, it looks like an amazing opportunity & experience to have, best of luck!!!

Eric, I put a ton of salt on everything anyway. I know it's not good for me but my blood pressure is always a little on the low side, so can get away with it. Haven't had any problems retaining water tbh. Maybe that's because I'm always active or because the amount of coffee i drink keeps me running to the loo all day :)

I was actually surprised at how nice it tasted. Not something I would ever have thought of buying, tinned stew especially.

you store 50g of water for every 1g of salt you eat

it doesn't just affect blood pressure, it slows down your metabolism and is linked to kidney damage and congestive heart failure.

its a shame the BL UK is so crap, done so cheap and as day time TV... the auzzie one is brilliant although series 5 was a step backwards :( The problem with the American one is its just too much stuff to cram into one episode a week, it just does not flow ..

I couldn't afford to take the time of work, and I wouldn't do the UK one anyway, I would do the Auzzie one, I would be in a good position to win as I now at the optimum weight for about 50% loss and I have been training for some time
