I am surrounded by dark clouds, I KEEP moving to get away from them but they are looming, TOTM, everything becomes such a chore and a melodrama and so dark:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I keep getting up, shouting at the kids for a bit :rotfl: realising I am bang out of order, walking around the garden for a bit, coming in, sighing, lopping about oh the doom and gloom:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I feel EXACTLY the same. Spend the whole day stressing about everything (resulting in 4 slices of white toast with butter and several cereal bars since all I really wanted was crisps but there were none on the house - so then I stressed about what i'd eaten too, making it harder for myself). Got myself into such a state that when my poor unsuspecting OH got in from work I cried and shouted for about an hour about everything and anything, from the state of our finances to the state of the kitchen floor, before realising how silly I was then he went and bought me a lovely takeaway. I wish there were ways other than food of cheering me up tho.:rotfl:

its been a very long time since i was here... before the forum revamp, whenever that was

and just wanted to say hi

i will hopefully be around a bit more in the future, following yet another lightbulb moment! lets see how long this one lasts

Today i bought some digital bathroom scales from argos, i picked the set which had the highest maximum reading, anyway i quickly set them up and O-LOAD appeared :-( now if i set them up right and they are not faulty, well that puts me at least two stone heavier than i guessed i would be. I'm gonna have a proper look at them in the morning when theres a bit more time, but for tonight all i can do is sulk!

6.2lbs off for me please. It is an adjustment from last week really when I had to report a 1lb gain due to eating a big sushi meal night before!

    Morning all,

Welcome neilers and emmah join in with the chat, they're a proper friendly bunch, and you'll find lots of information, advice, support and laughs here.

Welcome back puddings, I think we all have our own lightbulb moments. Why we need to have more than one is the real question... well in my case, anyway. Mine was last week, when I was within 1lb of tipping over into a stoneage range I haven't seen in over 20 years. I was feeling completely ashamed of myself, and wondering why on earth I do it to myself? I imagine a food counsellor would assess that I am an emotional eater, and I use food for comfort and reward. Which is insane really, because it's like saying 'I'm totally fed up with myself for getting fatter', so I give myself a 'treat' of comfort food, or I will have worked hard and be tired, so I treat us with a fish & chip supper, so I don't have to cook too, which just makes the situation worse! This time around I am truly feeling the effects of gaining weight, because I feel sluggish, and don't have the energy I once did. It can't all be ageing! Our Eric is on a long weightloss journey, and ordinary scales wouldn't work for him, so I'm sure he can suggest where you can find out where he was getting weighed, and reading up on his 'top tips' (somewhere near page 1 on the thread) for getting the best, steady results. Stick with us here Puds and we'll help you all we can.

Betty & Victory, I hope those dark clouds pass for you guys soon. If it's TOTM that's causing it, have you considered taking evening primrose oil capsules? I do this, and my friends who suffered dreadfully with PMT do, and it's helped enormously. I never used to get tetchy, but I am aware that I do have a shorter fuse with my patience in the week before my TOTM, and I tend to need to have moments of solitude, and quiet. The rest of the time I can go with the flow, and have untold patience.

So, I am on Day 8 of decorating today. I tell you, I ruddy hate decorating now! The emulsioning has all been completed - at last, and yesterday I began glossing. How I'm not high as a kite I don't know, but the house stinks now. More glossing to do today, but it is looking so much brighter and lighter now. The rest of the house is totally minging though, because I've not been tidying up, no one else has considered doing any either. Amazing how everything else seems to stop if I'm doing something else.... just shows who does all the work round her doesn't it?

The upside of being busy for the past week, is a -3lb loss this week. About blimming time, I told myself. It just shows that when I am very busy, and don't have time to think about eating, I don't need to eat, and I don't eat. When I do eat, it's when I'm really hungry, and because I've been short on time, I've eaten swiftly, and then got back to working. Not that I'd really like to be doing 12hrs painting, going up and down ladders every day of the week forever, but it's a good kick-start!

Damn- 2lb gain for me :(

Blame the takeaway last night (this is the takeaway that we got a bit addicted to recently - had it about twice a week - and then I realised I had put on 8lb in 2 months) but it was flippin lovely so I can't really protest (everything in moderation!) :o

My old seat on the wagon is looking a bit worn from the amount of times i've slipped off it recently! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm still determined that I can do it - especially since I know SW works for me from the last losses so it's silly to give up not having given it a proper try. Snacking is the hardest thing to fix though. I find myself seeking out crunchy, salty things like crisps or buttery toast every day at about 3pm. I'd love to have an apple or something crunchy like that but my body is wise to the fact that it's not what it wants and just keeps telling me so.

Got last night's turkey curry to make today. Might make it for lunch then reheat it for dinner too.

Need to get back on the MSE diet - ie. I can't afford to keep eating all the food in the house!!! :money::rotfl:

Big well done to melvis, Eric and efrieze for your losses! :T

Victory well done on STS and hey 10 days is enought to shift a couple more if you really want to. But either way you're gonna have a fab holiday :)

Sary I am the same as you - I eat when I am tired or sad or, ironically, when I am upset about my weight.

I also eat to waste time and procrastinate from doing my work, and when I am bored, and when I am watching TV.

I wish I could go a whole day just spotting the times when I'd usually slope off to the kitchen and then stopping myself.

Yeah it's def TOTM that gets me down. Usually about a week before I just spend two days crying uncontrollably and getting stressed out about every little thing. How does primrose oil work? do you take it all the time or just before TOTM? I would love not to put my OH through that every month! I always end up saying something harsh or over the top and then feel terrible that he's taken it to heart when really it's 90% hormones making me go crazy.

Betty, I found this online to give an explanation of how it works:
    http://www.essortment.com/lifestyle/benefitssideef_sjkq.htm

I had a friend who was training in homeopathy, and it was something she'd recommended to a friend who suffered exactly the same as you. She would be completely evil to her OH, and struggle to cope with life the week before her TOTM. She now swears by taking evening primrose oil. My best friend has entered the menopause very early (mid-30's) and takes it daily, as advised by her consultant, along with other supplements, as she's at risk of osteoperosis too. I buy mine from Sainsburys or Boots/Superdrug, wherever they're on offer. Give it a try for a couple of months, and see if you get any results, it should only cost a couple of quid.
