neilersmc - that seems like a lot of weight in so little time. Just be careful what you're doing there. Congrats on the weight loss but be a wee bit on the cautious side

Thanks for the concern. I am being sensible, following slimming world extra easy plan and an exercise programme from the gym.

Biggest thing i have done is cut out alcohol for a while, certainly not missing the hangovers.

im not starving myself if I want something "naughty" I let myself have it but make sure I have burned the calories at the gym before or after.

This is from someone that used to hate exercise to the point did everything to avoid it - now I love running swimming and walking

I fell completely off the wagon yesterday and had a chinese takeaway for dinner. I was feeling so fed up by the time I got home and couldn't get my head around making dinner so we went for chinese instead - a start-the-week treat for everyone else, a guilt trip to hell and back for me. Only consolation is that we ordered a set menu for 2 to share between 4 of us and there was plenty for everyone so I didn't have the full-sized portions, but I still woke up this morning feeling gross and just want to crawl back into bed.

its important not to get your body into a fixed routine, it gets happy and stabilises. Keep your meals fluctuating through out the week, chuck in a few big meals and a few small meals, have some higher cal days and some lower cal days, its the avg over the week thats important.

Hi folks hope you dont mind me joining, have been lurking for a week or so.

In April I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, high Cholesterol and type 2 diabetes. Sadly it had to take that news to give me the kick in the !!! to get up and try to shift the weight I am carrying.

Its now nearly the end of July and this week I have lost another 6 lbs bringing the total weight loss since April to 4 stone 4lbs.

Last tests at the doctor showed cholesterol normal and blood pressure normal and bloodsugar down from 15 to 4. So getting there!

    welcome

you sound like me, although i was insulin resistant bordering on type 2

the good news it is possible to reverse all these things with diet and exercise in many cases

i linked my recent blood sugars HERE (unmedicated)

diet is a key part of the recovery

reduce your carbs drastically (mine are 30-35% of my daily food), do not eat refined carbs, bread, pasta, sugar etc. The carbs you do eat make sure there low GI for slow release

    http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/diet/gi_diet/glycaemic_index_tables.htm

make sure you get a lot of your daily energy from healthy fats and oils (30%) mono and polyunsaturates, oily fish, nuts and seeds. These actively reduce cholesterol (mines 4.3 now unmedicated)

make sure you have protein with every meal as it is an appetite suppressant and helps to prevent muscle loss due to reduced cal intake

oh and note, very low calorie diets cause the body to make cholesterol naturally

gratz on all the hard work and achievement's you have made so far :j:j:j:j:T:T:T:T

hey, may not be a lot of weight in a short space of time depending on your starting weight of course. I just had a shock to lose a stone in 2 weeks last year. Was enough as kick start me into losing weight, and took the other 3 stone off a wee bit more slowly. As long as you're doing it in a healthy way, then it's all good. Mine came off because I couldn't eat, if I forced myself to eat, I threw up. The way it shouldn't be done. All due to stress.

Would hate to see anyone put themselves thru what i went thru back then :)
    4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j

I am surrounded by dark clouds, I KEEP moving to get away from them but they are looming, TOTM, everything becomes such a chore and a melodrama and so dark:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I keep getting up, shouting at the kids for a bit :rotfl: realising I am bang out of order, walking around the garden for a bit, coming in, sighing, lopping about oh the doom and gloom:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Mazza, I knew you'd had depression but hadn't realised that you too had to force yourself to eat because of stress. At least it has stayed off ;)

I'm reporting in a bit early for Fred, as I may not be able to post in the morning. Loss 6lb - now 18 stone 1 (nearly in the 17's) and 2 stone lost this year.

Och no hon the depression was years ago. That was just a bit of major stress, when me and my x had split up but were still living under the same roof until he found somewhere to live :rotfl: Think it was the thought of looking at him while trying to eat that was putting me off :rotfl:

As soon as I got rid of him, the stress went with him, was able to start eating sensibly and getting on with life.
