    Welcome back old friend :j

I am abit worried about the incredibly low cal intake you are on, its low for a woman let alone a man that exercises. I had my cal intake professionally calculated last weak and its 3460 plus 600-840 depending if i do cardio or resistance training that day, so potentially my intake to maintain my weight is 4300 cals a day, 1400 is incredibly low for a man in maintenance

    thanks pleased to be back!
i followed a diet site called myfitnesspal which set me actually on a cal low diet of 1200. it added callories for any exercise i did, i bought a hrm watch and band which logged my exercise cals burnt-some days i was able to consume nearly 3000 cals but i rarely if ever, ate over 1600--i burnt weight at a regular steady 2lbs a week and reached my goal in time for my summer holiday but i got lots of adverse reaction from my siblings when i came back to the uk and got the message i had gone too far--the medics in my family agreed - i got the message.--i just backed off for a month and 5 kgs came back quickly--i now just eat healthily, avoiding snacking and alcohol--its easy to do where i live.--it worked for me--at my lowest i still had fair muscle shape and the extra weight now has left me scuplted but slim.--i work with a lot of female students and they all think i look a lot better for it--and so does the wife!

İ am actually scared to go past about 1400 cals because as you can tell i can put weight back on quickly--im not losing weight now but i am not gaining-its a tight-rope i seem to be treading--the new chef at work is a devil for baking goodies and i spend my life resisting--you know me--Mr Self-control!!-i am very vigilant on the scales.

    Hi all.

I think that resisting temptaion should mean automatically a good result on the scales. I went to a Charity supper last night and the menu was fish and chips and I resisted entirely and just ate the tomato and cucumber salad. I should automatically earn several pounds loss on the scale tomorrow, right????

Absolutely and completely correct .... and if it's not it should be.

my mum gets that, she found she got better by reducing her meds and stopped taking everything they where giving her for it

surprisingly balance is something that you learn and you can unlearn it with lack of use, you can also relearn it by practising such as standing on one leg

I agree with not taking medication for it if at all possible .... your body is supposed to learn to ignore the conflicting signals that it is getting from your eyes/ears/muscles. But when it's a full blown attack (think falling over and vomiting but without getting drunk first) it would be great if the medication worked! Sadly, for me, it doesn't. :( And it's very embarassing if I'm out on my own.:o:o:o
  • sorry the labbywhatsit has reared its head again granny. Sounds horrid.
Efrieze - that is definitely how it should be
    Fellpony - thinking of you.
Puds - you are never going to see that 27 stone mark again. Fanatastic ahcievement, well done.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Hi everyone

I went to visit my Mum yesterday and she is looking a lot better so the new meds she is on seem to have had some effect :j She was very chipper but has been sorting out all her paperwork and will etc.etc. which I have found hard to deal with.
We went out for lunch and I decided to give in and have a chilli with tortilla chips for a total change, but half way through the plate I realised I was still eating but I wasn't hungry so stopped
Now that is another step forward for me....... So I am learning to cope with my empty hole feeling and realise that it does not need to be filled with food.
2 more weeks of waiting before we find out if the meds have stopped the cancer spreading more so fingers crossed.

Fellpony - Hope all goes well with DD this week, you are in my thoughts. Can you not take some puzzle books or something to keep your mind busy and away from the food?? I find mindless rubbish on my nintendo DS is great when I am feeling low and empty (Hugs)

de1amo - Welcome back, glad you had a good holiday. Hope you enjoyed your fish and chips whilst back in the UK?

Eric - Glad you are back to your loosing ways

BettyB - Look at you being all posh at claridges

Granny - Sorry your under the weather, my sister has this from time to time so I hope it is under control soon (Hugs)

Puddings - Love the stay puft man :) I always loved him as a kid after ghostbusters

And finally welcome to all the new comers

Hi Peeps, some may remember me from a few years ago when I lost a shed load of weight for my wedding, I went from 112kg (17.5st) and a size 20-22 to 74kgs (11.5st) and a size 12 unfortunately over the last couple of years the weight has slowly crept back on. I'm too scared to weigh myself but I'm pretty sure I'm heavier now than I was when I started then.
Last night I saw myself with nothing on for the first time in a year or more and frankly I was disgusted, so today was the first day back on the healthy eating plan. So far today I've had a bowl of cereal, a tuna and mayo sandwich (half tbl spoon mayo), a tangerine and some oven baked fish & chips. Ooh I also had a can of pepsi max and one pub measure of whisky topped up with diet coke.
I'm not currently doing a "plan" because its more a case of me eating the wrong things in mass volume, but I've decided if I'm still going at this time next week I will sign up to the Tesco ediets (what I did before).
I hope to stop by here often. See you around!

yes it was the fish and chips --and the alcohol!--my step daughter lived on fish and chips for the whole time we were there which meant i had to do the 'pub dog' act and clear up the scraps!!--i dont know how you loose weight with such goodies being available!(my step daughter is as thin as a rake!)

Thanks for the warm welcome back-i am beginning to warm to the idea of dieting again--i feel spurred onto going to the gym today and i am cutting out the odd tipple of raki that i have been having after a stressful day.
