:j:j:j:j Thanks Eric -- that makes a really good excuse for opening some champagne. Unfortunately at the moment I seem to be getting attacks of labyrinthitis quite frequently so anything more than a sip of alcohol is off the menu.

my mum gets that, she found she got better by reducing her meds and stopped taking everything they where giving her for it

surprisingly balance is something that you learn and you can unlearn it with lack of use, you can also relearn it by practising such as standing on one leg

In my attempt to get off this 27stone 1lb plateau (that I've been on for what seems like an eternity) I walked 9 miles yesterday. Then last night, as well as the expected aches in legs and feet etc, I was also aching in odd places like neck and shoulders... surely that isnt normal for just walking?
It looks like ive made a rod for my own back though as they say, cos today legs are still in agony and the usual 4 mile walk'll probably be cancelled as I cant go anywhere :-(
Obviously this giant load was too much for my little feet to carry... they feel like an old pushbike thats had three people riding on it!!

this was the hardest thing for me, especially as i had a heal spur which meant every step was like walking on a red hot 6 inch nail

good trainers although expensive made a huge difference, i went to a proper running shop and explained that i needed the most protection possible, they tested my walk and recommended nike vomereo which are like walking on giant marshmallows, I also use a treadmill where i can as its shock loaded which also helps. OH got the sort of shoes but for ladies.

I get a severe pain in my back and shoulders after 2 hours of walking, i put it down to the weight of my gut pulling down on me, i found doing 2 walks for a shorter duration one am and one pm helped a lot, i also try to avoid over doing it on one day, its better to be able to do a good amount everyday 60-90 mins than to do one super day and !!!!!! yourself up for the rest of the week

There are several threads around the forum for chatting and advice on diets depending on what method you are doing.

In this one we all weigh in every week, we are the hardcore crew of MSE :D

Ahh been a nightmare of a weekend for the diet. Went out with my sister and DD on sat night. Lots of beer. Which resulted in a day in bed recovering on sunday. Was a lazy cow all day!!! Think working the overtime last week just caught up with me + too much beer = sleep maz. Now my house looks like a bomb has dropped, so will be spending my day off doing mum's laundry and cleaning... Wooooopeeeedooooo

  • Vixarooni and Bex I love winter wonderland too, I was there last year with the OH, not sure I'll get back to it this year.

Had a bad weekend, I was in London, went to see UFC120, with OH and brother the last couple of fights were good but the whole weekend wasn't for my diet.

Still home now and back to it.

Whisper and Abdonz - Hi - theres loads of support on here, and the occasional kick up the bum too if you want that. The best thing is, that it's 100% cheaper than paying to go to weightwatchers classes, though there are some that do both (ooh how extravagant!). Post as often as you can (about both ups and downs) and we'll all do our best to help keep you on the weight losss wagon :-)

Abdonz - 8 stone might seem like a lot to you at the moment, but it can be done... Eric for example! How difficult it is to shift will depend on how much you are prepared to do to get rid of it.

Eric - thanks, I've learned this weekend exactly how far "too far" is for me lol. I did get 4 miles in yesterday though, and got weighed this morning, and the plateau has been beaten. Am over the 27st1 and into the 26st somethings instead, still no light at the end of the tunnel but at least i know im moving in the right direction again at last

Ive put full length gel insoles in my trainers and usually wear a thick pair of socks over my normal socks for padding. It is a bit of a botch d.i.y. job though, so next time i might invest in a pair of [STRIKE]marshmallows[/STRIKE] trainers with maximum support.

lol, should i get royalties? im sure this mr staypuft was modelled on me :-)

well my top was £45, and my only student friend left was working so i thought ahhh might aswell. Glad i did, because i didnt wear that and the dress i did wear i needed a waist belt for, which i bought to make it up to £80 to get 15% off.

Where did you go betty for the meal? Im trying to get my mum to go and see jersey boys, she wants to go but to get my mother to go anywhere without my father is a nightmare! I dont mind dad coming but London is pretty hard when youre disabled. I cant wait for christmas, last year i went to the hyde park thing and i want to do that again. Im just hoping my foot operation is late enough so that i will be able to do these things without being on crutches!

Now i have a week off i can go right in there for gym! Two days to get a loss here i come!!

We went to Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Claridges - the lunch menu is 3 courses for £30 which is amazing value since we also got canapes, amouse bouche and truffles with coffee for free!! It was a bit costly when you factored in the wine though! It was for our anniversary so we just pretended that money wasn't an issue for one day only! and then we giggled a lot cos we didn't fit in there with all the rich people!! hehe!! :rotfl:

Never seen jersey boys, not really a fan of musicals/shows, but I went to the hyde park thing last year and it was lovely.
I have to agree that London is tricky for disabled people -I still can't believe not all the tube stations have disabled acceess. it's a disgrace.

Glad to hear you're up and running againg Eric :)
Puds - well done for beating that plateau! :D
