Oooh the wind in your hair, the sun on your back and free wheeling down hills, or am I being nostalgic?Never pass a chance to say you care to those in your life as we are not promised a tomorrow0

The bike is now ride-able! It's many years since I had one and it's going to take me a while to get to Tour de France standard but I have cycled up and down by the garages in celebration. I didn't exactly manage 'round' as the seat is slightly too high so anything approaching a corner meant I ended up wobbling to a halt, but with enough light I should be able to fix the seat.
Finding the puncture kit was an adventure all of its own. In best MSE old-style (aka the Depression of the 1930s) we have a spectacular junk drawer full of things that might come in useful and finding a puncture kit with usable glue took me right into the depths of it.
For all those interested (me), here is a list of contents. As a social historian, I find it quite intriguing.
Assorted plastic bags
2 tiny framed pictures
3 useless bike repair kits and one useful one
5 adapters for bike pumps
tub and bag of panel pins

2 torches

jam jar covers
carrier bag carrying handles
3 claw and teeth clippers for pets
continental adaptor
3 way extension plug

unknown type of sticky tape
set of shower curtain rings

3 penknives

2 Christmas tree decorations

2 bike tyre caps
MP3 player
mini radio
marble
bolts and screws
worn out brush for washing machine drum
child's perfume bottle
birthday cake candles and holders
tea towel clip
tea bag
toy cat
2 forehead thermometers
kirbigrip
3 packets fuses
2 fizz keepers
out of date ear drops for a guinea pig
battery for a mobile phone
6 suction hooks

LOL Miggy....
x that bike by 10 and you have the price of my bike I got the other month LOL...and that was cheap for a new bike...
Nope you don't need a helmet. I don't have one. Only protects against a minor knock on the pavement. Not by being run over by a 4x4 drunk driver. More fatalities/accidents happen to those wearing a helmet than those without (I'm on a hippy bike thing on FB)...
Why is dieting sooooo hard...:(...sitting here starving. Only got up at 8.30 instead of lunch time....pants...
Time for lunch...
and this is my snooze
I have pizza base in the fridge (from the frugal cookbook I got from the discount store the other year) only it's no yeast so should be interesting and that's the last time I make instant pizza in the mixer :rotfl:...ate so much flour just kneeding it LOL. (you use self raising flour basically and baking powder with milk, egg and sugar and marg)
So tis me.... I spent £46 on a windows disk (telling myself if I can flash the rom's onto my android it'll save a new phone next year - hmmm. I'll have a linux phone next I think LOL. I've already voided the warranty by flashing ICS (ice cream sandwich) onto at a friend's house. Only took an hour after I spent 6 hours trying to get a mac to do what it really didn't want to do on Tuesday) and then £11.90 on my small furries buying them a new carrier
....Ace new carrier. One of a kind!!! Like a pouch thingy with fur in the middle and like can be worn over the shoulder or like as a back pack
...so can be washed out.
So so much for not spending at T * *** at volunteering. I can blow money anyway you want LOL (och I just realised that sounds crude :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)...

Mmm... pizza! Nice thought!
Helmet: I've seen both sides - someone with a helmet who went into a lorry and is now in a wheelchair, and someone with a helmet who went into the corner of a wall and walked away without a scratch. I also saw a RTA in which a pedestrian was killed, not by the impact of the vehicle but by her head hitting the road. I won't ever forget that.
I wonder whether wearing a helmet makes people less careful? Or whether more accidents happen to people with helmets because people who do a lot of cycling are more likely to wear helmets or go on busier roads?
I think I need someone to walk in front of me carrying a red flag...Miggy

Rather an unproductive today, albeit mostly cheap.
Well, that's apart from a take away.
I haven't done much though I did fit in a visit to Mum and I'm pleased to say the bronchitis is a lot better. She's still short of breath though. I think I will need to ask them to keep an eye on that as I don't remember it happening before - or did it? Maybe not to this extent?
I had two new bird feeders for her, ones that attach to the outside of the window. I filled the one she already has and the birds were feeding while I was there, but they were wary of the new one. Still, so long as Mum doesn't decide it's a problem and take it off, it could be entertaining for her and I'm sure they'll cotton on eventually.
I've done a bit of work in the garden and haven't been on my bike. Oh dear. Maybe tomorrow.
DS1 is away again as of the early hours of tomorrow - Tunisia this time, and DD is in London with a friend for the weekend. DH and DS2 went over to see DH's Dad for the day. That left just DS1 and me to feed so I went to the chip shop. Our local one has become one of the best on town recently but they've also put their prices up - I really think we had better give up visiting every week. It was nice though - a portion between us. Incidentally, DS1 and his g/f had pizza for tea and he's still as thin as a lathe. Is that what people are thin as? You get the idea anyway.
Just realised what the time is. Time I went to bed.Miggy

Bargain if you ask me as you can wear it multiple ways...
Go get one and SF will love it
Finally I got windows on the mac yesterday...but now I think I know where I'm going wrong putting the linux version of FT on the mac
...so there's £46 wasted. However in the process also managed to put ubuntu on the mac - result

Quite a productive day today: church in the morning, finishing up stuff from the freezer for dinner, half an hour or so break then some cycling practice round the industrial estate. Cycling isn't meant to be hard on the arms, is it? I've decided to get good at going in a straight line before I inflict myself on the traffic. The good news is that I am definitely cycling as opposed to wobbling for two metres then falling off, but the bad news is that Moll has a slow puncture - we think.
Moll?
Yes, Magenta Moll. It's a bike, it doesn't mind what it's called. I don't think it even minds the magenta, though I would probably have picked blue if there had been a choice.
Back home, I did my annual tree surgeon / hedge lopper act, with some help from my more able assistant, DH. This makes it easier to get in at the gate but the trees are still winning (which is as it should be).
Tea time then work for three hours and back home to make a cake and grab the laptop before DS2 wants it.
Spent - nothing. That's nice. I have got the coming week's food money out though on the way through - saves me a trip tomorrow.Miggy

Those are really neat, Erme! I've never come across them before. How do you stop the SFs from scrambling out, though?Miggy
