Interestingly, Erme, I took some words out and was puzzled at first because it then told me it was too long?!

Of course, it was counting the spaces left between lines.

I have just found the receipts from food savings at Easter which never got into my total. They were cluttering up my diary.
    • was £3.59, paid £3.02 saving 57p
    • was £16.74 paid £7.04 saving £9.70
    • was £25.38 paid £3.09 saved £22.29
    • was £7.43 paid 1.23 saved £6.20

The big savings were crazy reductions on meat.

Total to add to a list if ever I try to add up savings again: £38.76 :)

I have to say, some of those were absolutely remarkable and not something I'd expect to find often such as fillet steak for 77p instead of £7.74, and lamb for 63p instead of £6.26.

Mmm... mouthwatering... :) Though personally I prefer veggie. :rotfl::rotfl DH and DD thought it was wonderful, though. :)

Also considerable numbers of people seem to have found the end-of-day markdowns since then, but I can't begrudge it to them.

Some energetic gardening has been done, as has some chatting to neighbour, who has lent me space in his green bin.
The choisya bush is now looking worse for wear and I will need a saw for some of it, but the hope is that it will not only become a more manageable size, but it will sprout new, stronger shoots. A lupin has been rescued from a small pot and put in a big one, which in turn was rescued from under the choisya. Now it's time to visit Mum... I will try to take a few of her magazines back to her and find some space here!

Wow Miggy, you're so green fingered these days. You're making me feel like I want to learn gardening now!

Well done on all you're getting done and with all the food bargains too! Your diary is as entertaining as ever! Thank you.

Night shift was all fairly quiet but I awoke just before the most enormous electrical storm.

DS1 has just got back from the funeral of the boy who died a fortnight ago. The church was packed and the lights kept flickering. Even the organ struggled because it didn't have a steady supply of electricity! Eerie - but he felt it had gone as well as one could have hoped, it was very strange timing what with the storm. Good that so many people came too.

DS1 is now testing the volume on my piano - which considering he plays using guitar chords and he used to be a drummer, means the whole neighbourhood knows.

ETA - he has now switched back to guitar and it sounds great.

It looks like a big mop-up may be under way! About 9mm of rain that wasn't there this morning, and most of that fell in something like 10 or 15 minutes. In fact the sky was so dark when I came downstairs that I thought someone hadn't bothered to open the curtains until I went into the lounge and saw they were open, but the sky was deep grey.

At the other side of the house there was a patch of vivid light in the sky. Odd.

Some of my seedlings are looking a bit flattened and while the rabbit managed to shelter, I think I need to put dry bedding in her hutch because the rain swept quite a way in.

    T3sco has lost power.

On a very different note, DS1 has decided it would be a good idea to make a note of suggestions should any of us ever need to arrange his funeral. I thought that's a good idea, so I've jotted down a couple of hymns. In case you are in the mood they are Christ the Lord is risen today (though hopefully sung with a bit more oomph than this version!) and The Lord's my Shepherd (modern tune which I love: used this at my Dad's service).

And having cheered everyone up, I will go and do some mopping up! :D
