Aww I was going to say "McDonalds"...:rotfl:

I knew that a lot of Americans don't have passports but that is still quite suprising.

Do you know where in the world you have an 85% chance of surviving a cardiac arrest? (guess who has just done their Basic Life Support training)
Life is like a sandwich, the more you put it in then the tastier it gets.............just go easy on the :spam:

I'm going to guess - in any hospital? :D Sorry, my humour is too obvious today!

Basic Life Support Training? That sounds interesting. Is that for your work?

More news - I've cleaned out the goldfish. They are wearing sunglasses until they adjust to the new light levels. I am ashamed of myself for letting any of my critters live in such poor conditions (though I hasten to add they have a filter so that slows down the rate of deterioration).

Okay are you being serious? Your goldfish are wearing sunglasses?

Anyhow the latest snooze is that I'm getting satellite tv. Really just isn't doing it for me. It's £12.50 a month (it says £20 a month on the leaflet bout on the website it says £12.50 a month) for 6 month contract and like then £25. I was going to change phone and broadband to but when the offer runs out it's just not worth it (about £12 line rental plus an extra £10 or more on top. It worked out like 25p cheaper than I am paying now)

Cycled to the hospital yesterday cos like lost bus pass to physio :rotfl:. Minus tubigrip. Knee was jolly sore after. So today hormones playing up. G (elderly) says not to cycle when knee gets sore cycling but it's going to. It's just life. So long as I rest it after it's fine.

Eating far too many cakes and fatty stuff (fatty sundaes, fatty everything) so wonder if that's why I'm so tired. Maybe try the GI diet I might get from the library :T to get blood sugar sorted or from kindle.

Still to put tablet on ebay but hey ho. Had the kindle two weeks. It really should have been on ebay by now

I'm going for ... McDonalds? :D Given possible preceding clues and Mc'D's need to appear health-friendly.

I'm always serious. Hadn't you noticed?

Satellite TV? We looked into getting the broadband package but turns out it isn't available round here... in the end we cancelled the satellite altogether. :) It's had no effect whatsoever on the amount of time I waste on the computer. :)I would have been a pretty good package if we could have included t'internet, though.

    Hope it's mending today?

I think there's a lot to be said for low GI, if like me you feel peckish quite often. (My trouble isn't that I don't eat enough healthy food, so much as I add on too much unhealthy stuff. :) ) I think it's probably a lot more healthy and sustainable than a lot of diets.

Reminds me that we used to joke that the safest place to be ill was in Church - that particular church had a disproportionate amount of doctors, nurses, paramedics, physios, pharmacists etc!

I guess the other side of the coin would be that the local hospital would have been a good place to go if you wanted prayer. :D

I think I have just discovered the real purpose of freezers - nothing to do with ice for your drinks, convenience food or disposal of inconvenient corpses - no, it's all about making your own ice cream.

I bought 2 pints of single cream marked down to 24p each (and I left some for other people :)) and hastily googled a recipe which I've adapted somewhat. I've only got as far as the mixture stage and the first two of three batches are newly in the freezer, but if the finished product is like the mixture, it will be the best ice cream EVER.

So far - 1 x chocolate and 1 x ginger. To come - strawberry ribena flavour.

Ani, keep a look out for freezers just in case this recipe works, because the ginger is nice, by which I mean delicious.

This is how I made it. I googled 'chocolate ice ceram recipe and found what looked like a likey candidate in a blog near the top of the list. The measurements are American cups again but the ingredients aren't quite those from the blog: I used what I had.

    2 cups single cream
    1 cup milk
    2/3rds cup sugar
    dash of salt
    1/2 tsp vanilla flavouring
Either 1/2 cup cocoa or 1 tsp ground ginger

I mixed the cream and milk, then cooked the cocoa (or ginger) in some of this in the microwave for about 1 minute 10 secs (750 watt microwave). I put everything in together and mixed it well, then tasted it and resisted the temptation to have a glass full as a bed-time drink.

I've now put each mixture in a container and am freezing it for half an hour or so. I'll give it a stir before I go to bed. I know I'm supposed to stir it several times but I'm not staying up all night.

The strawberry one will have about 1/3 cup of neat strawberry ribena 'cos it's there and it might be nice - andthat will use up the cream. Can't believe it was so easy, and am kicking myself that I've wasted cheap cream before because I put off trying to make ice cream!

I also bought a 4 pt carton of milk for 22p because it was short dated but when I got it home it was already off. I wonder if I should take it back? I know the use-by was today but I opened it today and it was curdled. Bleah.

Actually it's been a good day for bargains - I got the Gardeners' world magazine as mentioned in Martin's newsletter (2 copies: there are still plenty on the shelves and we need to get five people into the Eden Project later this year, as cheaply as possible).

Ani, I'm sorry the magazine offer is a 2 for 1. That's a real shame. I'll keep an eye open for any good garden bargains for you though!

Other bargains were some yummy vine tomatoes for 88p instead of £3.50.

£3.50!! For a few tiny tomatoes! Wonder if tomato ice cream is edible...? :rotfl: I may need all the tomato recipes I can get. I haven't even counted the plants today!
