Lyniced, it's not a motability issue, it's a DVLA one. Motorbility have been giving misleading advice if they say the car can be lent or borrowed with road tax issues.
Sorry, I'm a little confused - what is a DVLA issue?Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0 -
I think what they are saying is that although the motability scheme allows other drivers and other uses - the disabled tax disc does not come under motability rules - it comes under the juristriction of the DVLA - The disabled tax disc rules are tighter than the motability rules; see below;
"When using a disabled tax disc - The vehicle must only be used for your purposes, for example shopping or getting prescriptions.
If it is being used by the nominee or someone else for their own personal needs, then the exemption will be lost and the normal rate of vehicle tax must be paid"
The above quote comes from the DVLA regarding disabled tax disc fee exemption - motability rules are seperate.0 -
Yep, see post #67

ok...I see (I think). Sorry didn't really read previous posts - just the first one. Anyhoo, as I mentioned before Motability are very friendly and if the OP speaks to them directly (which I have done on several issues) they are more than happy to help.Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0

£73 per year or part year, you must pay it in full in advance, so a 3 year lease would cost £219 for the 3 years.A couple of you have mentioned that the motability insurance covers two people - but another can be added for a small charge - can anyone give me an idea of this charge please, and is it payable direct to the dealer when you collect the car ?
If you just had 2 years left on the lease then it would be £146.
You pay it to RSAM, and will need the drivers licence details and driving history to add them over the phone.0 -

OK, we were TOLD by motability (before DH fell ill and was disabed himself) that if the named driver is the sole/main breadwinner of the household and the person who's DLA is paying for the car lives in the direct household funded by the wages of the breadwinner then it is PERFECTLY FINE to use the car for commuting to and from work IF the disabled person does not drive and does not have another named driver.
It is now even in the rules and conditions that motability send out.0
