  • :D Yes coco, I have two Poundland items I'm selling on ebay! One is an ipod sleeve, another is a usb hub. No "watchers" yet, but I'll let you know how it goes. Sometimes you can pick up interesting things at the pound shop, like name-brand moisturiser, but they have such a turnover of stock you have to hit it on the right day!

Lalli- how're you getting on with your housemate? Hope things are a bit better x

I read about selling in poundland/from poundland too... I think it'd be a bit hit and miss actually especially the way that ebay seems t be at the moment!

One thing that I am going to keep my eye peeled for- libraries! Libraries sell off their stock which is not fit for shelf life anymore, so it's rather tatty and usually they sell them for 50p each. What I'm going to do is look at these books and then check on Amazon to see if they're gong for more than 50p and is so buy them! My mother is a librarian and she says she has people do that a lot especially for books like art ones and train spotting and others whicih may be collectable so people don't mind that the condition isn't great. Just thought I'd share that idea with you!

One item on ebay has sold- a sleeping bag and it went for £4.20... my other items end tomorrow so fingers crossed!! xx
  • Housemates not home much at the moment so not too bad, althought I found out yesterday that the door she's been hanging all her stuff on has come off of its hinges due to the weight. It must have been like that for a while so why she didn't tell me is anyones guess. Just one more thing.

A lot of my Mills and boons are from libraries, if you buy them for 10p and sell on ebay in lots of 10 for 99p then at least you're breaking even, and often I make a little bit of profit as well. Hadn't thought about doing it for anything else, shall invade the library in a minute and see.
  • Hah! The tardy payer on ebay paid pdq when I opened an unpaid item case! Received the paypal payment today. Pity I didn't charge enough postage for a signed-for delivery, didn't think it would get this difficult. May just fork out the extra pound or two - better to be safe than sorry.
Lorrie - that is a great idea. Our local library is forever selling off their old stock, will pop along this very afternoon. :T
Gawd lallie, I feel for you. My shoulder feels well and truly cried on. I am sending positive vibes over the airwaves to you :D.
  • Just popped along to our library, and loads of books on sale, from 50p to £1.50 - Bargain :j. Wrote down some of the isbn numbers and looked them up on Amazon when I got home. Some gold amongst the dross there, so will be nipping back to get them tomorrow. Thanks for that tip lorrie.
About ebay and paypal fees - a bidder asked me if she could pay by cheque as she didn't trust paypal, I said okay and changed my seller options accordingly. She posted the cheque, I received it the next day, and within 3 days the money was in my bank account! I've now included cheques option in my listings, stating that I will only post the item once the cheque has cleared in my account (excluded central African buyers though). No paypal fees, no hassle :D
Hope everyone has had a profitable day.

  • Hi bigbeff, welcome! You will find we are all in the same boat here. If you read this thread from the beginning you will find loads of tips, especially for selling stuff online and carboots/markets.
We look forward to hearing your progress / success
My one tip though, keep a seperate account for your smile-money, otherwise you'll be tempted to spend it.

Hey Bigbeff welcome to our thread! Hopefully you'll find it really useful! What's your dissertation in?

2 out of the 8 items on ebay are sold...! Fingers crossed that when they finish tomorrow it'll be more like 5! Iwant to get more than half sold then the rest I'm going to take to teh charity shop!

I am going to go to the library on Thursday I reckon and track down some books... i'm a LITTLE concerned though about ending up with more clutter here so I think I may actually wait until after we've moved but I will take a little look on Thursday anyway!

Written 2 reviews for Ciao/Dooyoo today so that was good and did some freelance work too! Phewsh!

Hi bigbeff and welcome- the more the merrier!!!
I have sold an other item on amazon- it is getting addicitive!!! I also looked around in the local carboot sales and charity shopes and picked up some unusual books for pennies- and guess what? Whit some off them struked gold- 2 of the books are one offs on amazon and hopefully they will sell soon! On a negative note I realised that after amazon took their fees I only received 2.85 for the first book - the postage was 3.50 !!! !!!!!!!?! I hope it will work out better with this second book- its much lighter and hopefully make a handsome profit. Nothing interesting happening on e-bay at present, I re-listed my items but don't know if thet will sell- I will better get that PS2 on e-bay to make some money... Well, I hope everybody doing well and get the sales up.
