  • Bought 4 books at the library today for £4.50. I am going to try selling them on ebay for a change, as you can now charge £2.75 for postage same as Amazon. (Before, you had to supply free postage, but they've just changed it.)
Lorrie, I'm still learning with ciao and doyoo, what on earth do you find to write about? I have written a review of my mobile phone, but that's about it.
A few bids for my stuff on ebay at the moment, 4 days to go, so hopefully will sell at least half of my things.
    Howz everyone else doing?

Don't worry coco i think that you find that some days you make money on postage and others you don't... Especially when books are concerned! I have just sold a tupac cd for £5 on amazon! Bloomin' shocked!! I thought it was going to end up being chucked away but oh no someone wanted it!

two of my ebay items have bids on now... just 3 hours to go till they're all done! They all have just one watcher so I'm not thinking they'll go for very much but it will be nice to get rid of them, one less thing to think about at least!

I'm really wanting to go swimming tonight, I feel like i need to get out and have a bit of 'me' time where i don't get distracted by housework or baby-related things but the £3.90 to go swimming would have to come out of my savings and I don't know if i can justify it! Argh!

I review anything from food to toys to restaurants etc. I did a 3,000 word review on breast feeding and another on coping with colic. If you just look at my profile on there you will see how many reviews I've done and get an idea of topics. I reviewed Veet recently, after using it and realising how RUBBISH it is, sometimes it's good to have a rant about it! Oh and also with Pampers nappies that KEEP LEAKING! Arghhhh it's driving me mad!!! If i have a bad experience with something i think "Ha! I'm now going to write abad review about you!" haha!

Let me know how you get on with the book selling, I hope it works! Won't that be good if it does?! Im so going to take a trip and see for myself if our little library has anything to offer!
  • Aah thanks for that Fozzeh, will go do some homework.
When at the library, I saw a leaflet for their online book sale - well I had to go take a look didn't I :p Bought two CD sets for a song ;) after checking on Amazon to see how much they go for.
I will have to be disciplined and stop spending money on stock now, otherwise I'll never reach my target!
PS: I'm on first-name terms with the post-office staff now :rotfl:

I think in the last month i've made £50 on ebay sales (which includes the gameboy...) but after i'd paid fees etc i think it's more like £30 but still it's helped me declutter! I'll have ANOTHER big trip to the post office tomorrow! haha!

Well done lorri- its great when thing sell on e-bay. I still haven't got around to take new pictures of my stuff for e-bay I will try do get to it tonight. 7 of my listings will finish tonight 4 of them having people watching it but I guess its no guarantee...
I have a little bother with one of my e-bay buyer- I posted her item last Friday with all the other lots- she is keep e-mailing all time that it still didn't arrived blah blah blah- all the other items posted on the same day arrived no problem. I explained that the Post Office does not consider an item lost for 15 working days and if it still didn't arrive I will refund her money and will claim it back from the Post Office. Well, she is still e-mailing me 2-3 times a day telling me that it still didn't arrive can I chase it up?- I told her that I only have the certificate of posting and you can not check on it etc- but she is gettong me really stressed out...
On the money front I have managed to bag 21 pounds of cashback for signing up with the AA via the TOp Cashback site- the whole policy only costed 39 pounds before the cashback but the basic policy is starting at 28 pounds before cashback- my old roadside assistance used to cost 65 pounds so I think I got a good deal... I think I will count this 21 pounds toward my total to cheer myself up-
thats 329 ponds saved and only (!!!) 661 pounds to go....
I will try do and do an other carboot sale this Saturday if the weather is OK but after that I will give it a rest for a while... I was also trying to get a cash back deal for my car insurance but no luck yet- its pretty limited what is on offer in N Ireland- but I will not give it up just yet...

  • Hi guys,
glad to hear everyones doing well.
I've now handed in notice at job so I need to pull my finger out and get a new one, also house or somewhere to live. I've applied to an agency so hopefully they'll turn something up, it's one I've used before and they're normally pretty good.
Since last time I've sold wardrobe, 2 chests of drawers, an armchair and kirrans old toy box on ebay as well as tons of books, I've started listing thme in packs of 50 now though as people seem willing to pay up to £20 for 50 books but only £1 for 10, silly peoples :) but better for me, £20 for 50 gives me £15 clear profit per 50 books :D
Been to the library today but you must have been before me absoluut as I only managed to pick up one book on interview technique, the rest were all trashy fiction ;)
Might have a quick peek in the other local libraries as I have to travel today (I'm delivery driving tonight).
So I've worked out, for each week I don't work I need to make £450  so getting a job is a high priority as I don't think I can scrape that up out of ebay sales at the moment.
I've flyered the neighbourhood, stuck cards up in windows and ads online and ordered some more business cards from vistaprint (with 101% cashback care of TCB :D ) as I realised my original business cards had my address on which will soon be obselete, and also they didn't really say what I do.
Also considered getting a website up and offering a postal service, where client would post all invoices to me, I'd type them all up onto a spreadsheet or Sage and then post the whole lot onto the accountant at the end of the year, not sure how national I would be, would you consider using a bookeeper who might be 100 or more miles away? Of course I'd meet the client first so it would involve travelling on my part which might outway the benefits?
Still trying to find my way with this self employment lark :)

Oh Jo that's rubbish 'losing' your miney like that, I hope the person involved gets an attack of guilty conscience and gives it back.

Good luck for the baby sale, I think £6 is very good, especially compared to ebay and paypal fee so go for it!

Sounds like you're getting organised lalli! I don't know if people would pay for long distance bookkeeping but it would be worth seeing, and it'd be good for you to get a website up and running anyway so you can try to get your business up! Fingers crossed you get some luck out of it, let us know how you get on!

I spent 40 minutes in the post office queue today- how boring!

Not managed to ge tto library yet but hopefully once HOpe has woken up from her nap we'll go...although I have a suspicion it ma ybe closed after 5 so we may leave that until tomorrow!
