    Hi all- I did managed to do a carboot sale this morning - that's an other 40 pounds towards my total!!! I have also opened my 'sealed pot' of 2 pound coins and I found - ta -da- 90 pounds!!! I'm exstatic! Thats an other 130 ponds toward my target - so far 308 pounds - 'only' 601 pounds to go... just as well because I will have to book and pay deposit soon or I will not get this holiday for such a good price- (330 pounds/ week all inclusive to Grand Canaria from Belfast direct- believe me its a very good price for N Ireland!!!)

    I'm glad that you had such a good day out on the budget Fi- sometimes these are the best ones!

    As for Amazon-I have my items in the same line as the cheapest ones in the same conditions I just have to be patient, I guess things are a bit slower than on e-bay.

    Alex- I love competitions- one of the forums are dedicate to them and its makes it really easy to enter to enter a whole lot of them. I'm taking a little break from them at a moment because I really need to concentrate on my money making but when I did do them I did win plenty of make up and bits & pieces (some of them ended up on ebay...) Now that I'm thinking about it I might give a look at them...

  • Well done Coco, you'll be hooked now, checking amazon every hour to see if anything else has gone :)
  • OK, so in terms of making money, I've prioritised in this order:
    Work/extra work as an employee
    Self employed work - bookeeping, mystery shopping, driving etc
    Daily clicks on fatcheese and topcashback, others if I have time (do this before I start work so it depends when I get into the office)
    Ebay and amazon
    Surveys
    Ciao/Dooyoo
    Competitions

    So whenever I get any free time I go down my list in that order and when I have some spare time that I would normally spend watching TV or reading, I go onto the MSE forum and enter some comps :) I've downloaded a form filler so that saves time, and I figure if I do win the odd bit of make up or such like, then I'm not earning any less per hour than I am by doing surveys or reviews really and there is the chance of earning way more :D The only reason comps are at the bottom of my earnings list is because you can't guarantee you'll make anything.

    Does everyone else have a list of priorities when it comes to earning or is this just my anal accountant side coming out?
  • Wow Coco, that's really great. Those coin jars are amazing, aren't they. It just takes a bit of discipline to keep emptying your purse every day, when it's not in your purse you can't spend it! Congrats on your Amazon and carboot, too.
    Lorrie, with the collective positive energy we are generating on this forum, you will reach your target no problem. Look how far we've ALL come in the past week or so since we joined this thread. :T

    I think my priorities are:
    * Dooyoo/ciao (the more you write for ciao the more you get in premium fund so i have to write a lot!)
    * Amazon
    * Ebay
    * Freelance work (the reason this is at the bottom is that it is hit and miss depending on what comes in!)
    * Competitions

    I've given up with survey sites i just got bored of being screened out. I will enter the odd competition but not holding out much hope for them!

    Wouldn't it be nice if someone just dropped us an enevlope full of money throuh our doors one morning...!

    Hi can i join in? I need to find £1000 by Dec for my car insurance, tax and MOT!

    Think i'll aim for £250 from ebay/amazon/bits and pieces and just try and up my game with work for the rest (im an AVON lady!)

    But still making the £250 feels daunting as i find it so long and boring listing on ebay so havent done it for ages!!:o infact i still have all my little ones newborn clothes to list.. and shes 27 months! :rotfl:
  • So, I have a housemate, she rents my spare room for half of the rent amount but I am responsible for all bills etc
    I know that when she lived on her own she was very frugal with electricity, water etc but now it doesn't seem to bother her if she leaves all the lights on or the tv on all night.
    Then she expected me to buy a washing machine because she doesn;t like laundrettes. I deliberately go to the laundrette because then I know I'm only spending money I have and wont get hit with a bill I cant pay. I also dont like to move houses with washing machines as they're too heavy so I didn't see why I should have to spend money for something I didn't want and would avoid using, but she then told me that she had a work colleague keeping an eye on the situation and that as it had been several months and I still hadnt given her her washing machine that she considered me to have broken the terms of our contract.
    She doesn't seem to understand cleaning, she's hoovered once in 7 months, won't empty bins, won't buy toilet roll, won't clean up or wash up after herself so that before I cook anything I have to wash up a full sink of stuff that I haven't even used and then she complains that she can't sit down because there;s cat hair on the sofa or the carpet is dirty. She even came into my work once to lecture me on how I shouldn't put plastic in the recycling bin.
    It just drives me mad, but.....
    the person in question is someone who could potentially have a bit impact on my career, she used to be a work colleague and as I have applied for my old job back I need her to be on my side and really selling me rather than doing me down, so what do I do?
    I know I've put up with all of this for 7 odd months, but now she comes home from work and instantly starts criticising me and picking fights for no reason. Every choice I've ever made is wrong and I'm stupid and irresponsible etc etc.
    I'm actually counting down the days until the 27th when she moves out, because then, although I lose a good chunk of income, I do at least have 21 days of my house without her where I can just come home and not feel like a glorified servant. Where everything will be where I left it and the sink will not fill up with magic washing up as soon as I leave the house.
    Am I a bad person? I used to really get on well with this person before we lived together but she seems to have completely changed now that she is in 'my' house, compared to how she acted in her house and it just makes me want to scream!!!!!
    Rant over ;)
  • Hi Johanne and welcome.
    You're not the only one who finds listing on ebay long and boring but some things have to be faced. If you have a lot of things to list, set aside an evening, or agree to list say 10 things a night. Think of it as another job if that helps, whereever you work I'm sure there are some days when you don't want to get out of bed or you can't face another day doing "
    " but you do it because you know if you don't then you won't get paid. Ebay is the same, it's boring and monotonous, like stacking shelves, but if you don't do it you can't earn any money form it, and sometimes, as you can see from Lorriellah/Fozzeh's earlier gameboy postings, you get an unexpected bonus.

    Also, think how much more space you'll have once you've gotten rid of all that clutter :D

    :) Yeah I definetly know the feeling of if you dont do it you dont get paid since my job is self employed as an Avon lady!! I do it 16-30 hours a week as im a single mum and it means i can work from home as childcare is a bit of an issue for me....but since its all commission if i dont work i dont get paid!! And at the moment sales are really low (school holidays/people being away) and so im barely scraping enough to pay my bills even though putting in the same amount of work as usual!

    hence why the extra pennies are greatly needed!!

    Suppose this is a good time to fill in the bit more info bit..
