If you google transcription company UK then you should get a good list of companies that come up.

    :)xx

Goodness me, yes, you are right! :rotfl: Applied to 14 of them, surely someone must want me ;) Thanks again for the info.
  • Lorrie, I'm probably being a bit dense, but how do you actually make money with ciao and dooyoo? I signed up for them both, but not sure how it works.
Congratulations on your running total, by the way. :T

With Ciao you write reviews and every time a fellow member rates yours as helpful/veryhelpful or exceptional you get about 2p (depending on the product it can be less, it can be more) this doesn't really add up to much- perhaps 20p a day or something. BUt then there are ways to get more- there is product of the week where you compete against others to write the best review on a product and you win first, second and third places. There are also special things like last summer they had everyone earned double for 2 months and the same whilst teh world cup was on etc. Also at the end of every month on Ciao they share out a premium award of £2k across all members who have been active. Those who have had the most reads that month get a share. From this you may get £2 but you may also get £50 so it encourages you to be active- write reviews and rate others. You can withdraw at any point on ciao straight into your bank account.

On Dooyoo you get paid a set amount per review so you will write a book review and get 30p or you will write a review on a washing machine and get 60p (items vary in price like ciao) you also get paid per each rate another member gives you. This is about 1p or 2p depending. I find that if I write a review worth 60p i usually get £1.20 in total if enough people rate it. Once you reach £50 on dooyoo you can withdraw it in the form of a cheque. So although you get more per review on dooyoo you don't have any special things like premium award. You do, however, get £1.50 if you write a review which is awarded a crown.

    Hope that makes sense!
  • Aah, thanks fozzeh, I get it now
Hmmm, I do read a lot of books, so think I will head over to dooyoo for a review or two. Thanks again to everyone for positive vibes and great advice.

Woohoo, just looked at ebay and my huge chest freezer is currently at £43! I've been trying to get rid of this for ages as we don't have space and for 2 people it's far too big, but nobody wated it. I was dreading moving it again, it's so heavy, so now, someones going to pay me for the priviledge of taking it away :j

Hows everyone else doing today. You seem to be quite on top of things Foz/Loz, I gather £400 wasn't as hard as you thought so are you back to aiming for £500 now?

I've just signed up with a jobs agency as I have to give notice on my current job next week (Boss needs me to be in the office until 5.30 each day and it's just not possible to get childcare until 7pm now that we're moving and therefore no housemate :( sad times)
so now in a mad dash to find any kind of job by the end of August. Only criteria is that I must make £28k minimum so applied for Aldi assistant manager and various accountancy roles, now just looking at what else is out there but I don't really know where to start. What kind of job makes £28k a year that I can do, I did 12 years in catering and 4 years in accountancy, I've also done fast food, nightclubs, shops etc but I have no idea of what else I could be aiming for?!?

Ah Lalli sorry you have to give up your job how frustrating! And also very daunting! My husband is in the same position- he really needs to get a new job before we move (around Sept time) so he's been looking everywhere for work and it's been very stressful. He works in finance and there are so many people who have lost their banking jobs that all the jobs he applies for have huge numbers of people applying so after 6 months of looking we've had no luck :(

From our long search for jobs for him we've been finding places like total jobs and monster good places to look. You upload your cv and so applying is more straight forward. At least you've had quite a broad range of things from ctering to accounting! Could you take on two roles do you think to make up the downfall if you don't get a 28k job?

Well done on your chest freezer that's great! All this space being generated plus money! excellent!

Thanks Absoluutebeginner about your advice on e-bay- I can relax about how many items can I list without being upgraded (not that I managed to do much). My seven items closing on Thursday night, I hope at least 4 will sell...
I managed to put more books on amazon- a total of 19 at present, I just hope that they will start to shift. One of my books- a medical one is- a one only on amazone so fingers crosed...
I also done a CD clearout and 'sold' it to music magpie for a grand total of ... £9.27. I really didn't wanted these CDs anymore (some more that 10 years old) and CDs doesn't really sell on a carboty so I thought £9.27 is better than nothing. I'm not sure when I will get the cheque - based on some of the forum discussions it can be anything between 3-6 weeks- but its still better than nothing.
Also my car insurance in due for renewal in 1st September- a local company offer up to £100 cashback (within 4 weeks) for a car insurance so its worth to check it out. I got my pet insurance + home insurance last year via quidco and made £135 on it however it took 6 months to get my money. I checked their car insurance cash backs and nothing with exceptional cashback- the average £20 - 40 per insurance - I got £40 for my pet insurance that costs a 1/3 of the car insurance premium- where is the logic in that?
I also have to up my amount I m aming for to £990 because our teenage daughter decided that she wants to come with us after all- I guess thats more money making work for me... Well at least I got until Decenber to get it.
I hope you are all doing well- lorrielah done really well- almost got her total by the end of July, a month ahead of schedule. Maybe once it's done can start a new saving chellenge for Christmas?

Ah, see the problem is that I already work two other part time jobs so the £28k is really the min I can take from my main job otherwise I'll have to start looking for a higer paid 2nd job as well
My monthly take home from No1 job is £1,770 which pays for rent £750, Council tax £250 and childcare which can be up to £1,800 depending on the month (even bigger ).
The other 2 jobs pay minimum wage which after I've paid for childcare I probably earn around £2 per hour but as I work around 50-60 hours a week that makes £100 odd extra which all helps.

I also do some bookeeping in my spare time, just invoiced £45 for that, but I need to get some more clients for that to be worth giving up job no 2 or 3 :(

    Why is life so hard?

Also, before anyone jumps on me, I do understand that my life is hard because I was irresponsible in my youth and that I am paying for it now that was just a general moan.
As my mum keeps telling me, if I'd gotten married before having children then I wouldn't be in this situation so it's my own fault ;)

I feel you pain lalli_pickle... I'm somewhat in a simular situ- work 2+ jobs just to break even because irresponsible spending when we (my hubby and me) were younger... We started our married life with £100 in the packet, clothes on our back and a newborn baby. Nowdays we have 'everything' but we do pay a price for it- I don't think I ever can reduce the amount I work (50 hrs per week +) or even ever dream about retire... well 'we can rest when we are dead' is my (morbid) motto. Sorry abou a rant...
Also lalli_pickle is nobody is judgemental in here - or at least I hope so...
