Hi all,
My carboty went very well on Saturday- I made 65 pounds clear profit ( after paying for my pich and buying a couple of things) so overall I am very happy with it- also managed to shift 4 bagful of stuff so we have less clutter. I hope that I can get myself to do an other carboty next saturday or sunday if I find anymore stuff to sell around the house, fingers crossed.
Thank you for your tip 'absolutebeginer' about hidding my coins in my boot- I'm sure nobody will look there, however it maybe a little smelly (maybe it works as an extra deterent?!?).
This week I didn't have much luck with e-bay I really have to list some new things, I just can't get myself motivated at the moment- great sale fozzeh on your gameboy!!!
I'm really interested to list some of my books on amazon- I was looking on information on how to start but I'm not sure how is it working just yet.
Holiday found to date- 135 pounds only 531 pounds to go..."NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FREE FOOD"

Wow Coco, that was a really good day then! Well done. Yeh, the smellier the boot the better :rotfl:
When once you are registered with Amazon, listing is easy when you use the book ISBN number (barcode) facility. It tells you the title and author, how much it's going for new and second-hand, so you have an idea of what to charge. Sometimes it's only a few pennies, but surprising how those can add up. And as lorrie said, sometimes you make a bit on the postage.
Lalli, I got a surprise today, I sold £15-worth of stuff on ebay ending today, and Paypal have not withheld my money! I have an ongoing feud with them as you may have gathered, and send them emails every single day, sometimes twice a day, demanding my money. I think they must have got sick and tired of my nagging
Good luck to those of us ebayers, with this week's lots.
Total so far £64 :j Only £196 to go.0 -
Congrats Absuutbeginner about your e-bay sales- just shows you that e-bay does work (most of the time).
I'm absuletly determent to put on some new items tonight, I aim for 10- 15 in one go.
PS- what do you think about the new e-bay rule that you are only allowed to list 100 items a month as a private seller or you need to upgrade to a business seller? I never really have more that 30- 40 listings in a good month but it can effect some people who do a one big clear out and try to sell off everything at once.
fozzeh - I completely understand your obsession with checking your amazon account- I have listed 5 books today (very pleasently suprised on a possible price if it sells) and I keep checking if anybody ordered anything yet? I can't wait for my first sell- come on amazon!!! I also find it much easier and much faster to list my books.
lalli-pickle- how do you go by listing multiple items on amazon? I have some 2-3 part books that I would like to put on together. Thank you"NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FREE FOOD"

Things are really looking good - I got paid for a mystery shop today £12, and sold a buy-it-now item on ebay for £2.25 :j
Small amounts are all adding up.
Running total £78.25 - £181.25 to go.
Just had a thought, I'll need spending money as well, heyho there goes the plastic!
You're right coco, but ebay is very swings-and-roundabouts. Some weeks I'll not sell a thing, then other weeks it all goes like hotcakes. Perhaps it's better towards the end of the month when people are feeling a bit flush.
About the 100-items rule, that's only for items that you are selling for 99p and under, which qualify for free listing. So you can still sell 100 items at 99p, but more than that and you'll have to pay for listing.
This is what they say on their General Announcement page, dated 2nd June. ... we would like to remind private sellers that from June 2nd, any private seller listing directly on eBay.co.uk, with a starting price up to £0.99, ... will be entitled to list up to 100 auction-style listings per month at 0 insertion fee. The 101st listing will be charged the standard insertion fee.
Yes, I would also be interested to hear if we can sell multiple items on Amazon.0 -
Today: £4.20 from Amazon
£3.00- dooyoo/ciao.
I also have bids on three of my bundles on ebay so far
I am not spending anything that I make, all these bits of money are going into a separate bank account and I'm only spending money that I earn through my job.
I have a part time freelance work of transcribing and I have one to do tomorrow which will give me £60! That will really boost my savings!
I think we're doing really well I hope we all reach our targets!0 -
That's great fozzeh, having the transcription job. I applied to an agency in the USA weeks ago for transcription work, but haven't heard anything from them. Is there an agency in the UK?
All quiet on the ebay front, but paypal emailed me to say they have released £10 from my account, as the customer left feedback. How generous of them!
Running total £88 - £172 to go.0 -
My bad Absluutbeginner- I was reading some of the forums about e-baying and that's what I picked up?!?
I wonder than when e-bay try to make you into a business seller?
I only managed to list 7 items last night ( I always go for a 3 day listing) because my friend phoned at the exact moment when I stared to list my items! Bad luck or what? It was pretty late to the time I get to my listings (between 10-11pm) I hope it doesn't effect the number of buyers?
I will try to list some more items on Wednesday evening and hopefully I will be doing an other carboty this Saturday if it doesn't rain (50-50 at present) even that I hate to wake up soooo early.
I have now listed 9 books on amazon- fingers crossed- I keep checking my account every hour but of course nothin sold yet ( I only listed them yesterday afternoon /evening!)
Well, I hope verybody doing well this week and make some money ..."NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FREE FOOD"

Well i have sold 3 items on amazon today! Only made about £8 from them but still i'm impressed!!!
Got 4 bids on my ebay lots so far, I'm not expecting to sell them all but i'd like to shift half at least so nearly there!
I do transcribing for some UK based transcription companies, if you google it it should come up. They all have different things they ask for and I applied to them ALL but only really got accepted to 2 because I was only available limited hours in the week and things. I have all the software and a 90wpm typing speed and I work in medicine so that worked in my favour. They usually like it if you have the software and experience and say you can work whenever so it's worth reading through them all until you find ones which suit your circumstances0 -
Coco, I think it's when ebay see you are putting on loads of "new" stuff, ie not just having a clear-out but actually buying and re-selling. I had a business account with them selling doll's clothes which I imported from the USA, but it got too costly to bring them into the country, so stopped it. I asked them to downgrade it to private (so I could take advantage of the free listing days), which they did as they could see I wasn't using it for commercial purposes any more.
Thanks for the advice lorrie. Luckily I am able to work 24/7/365 and have the software and pedal. Oh that sounds as if I don't have a life  but of course I do. I was made redundant in 2008, no family responsibilities, and a bit of a night-owl, so happy to work whenever I can get it.
I received a cheque in the post for £5.99 for a buy-it-now item on ebay (call it £6), so my running total is now £94 with £166 to go! Gosh, it's coming down quickly. I can only thank you all for your positive energy, I'm sure that's what's doing the trick.0 -
Okay I think my running total needs to be added up to keep me inspired... I need £400.
Craft: £75
Wii fit: £50
Amazon: £80
Transcribing: £30
Ebay: £15
Dooyoo: £50
Ciao: £20
= £320!
So I'm nearly there (I did want to reach it by mid August) I think I will probably reach it by the end of August now but omg I'm so impressed with that!
I have got bids on several items on ebay too so I'm aiming to make £15 from that, they end in 2 days time so fingers crossed!!
Hows everyone else's running totals?
If you google transcription company UK then you should get a good list of companies that come up.
