  • I have no idea how much to charge? Do I charge by the hour? Per task? I'm clueless! Anyone got any suggestions please?

Hi Jenny, you might want to look at this website to get some ideas http://www.kingsmaid.co.uk/. They say "We charge strictly by the hour for each maid, a 'maid-hour' e.g. a typical 4-maid hour clean would generally be completed by 2 staff for a 2 hour duration."
Good luck with your endeavours, wish I could hire you, I could do with your services :)
  • I have a lot of Mills and Boon Romances which I just list in batches of 10. There's not much demand for them separately but they are easy reading and they all have happy endings so they're good hospital reading etc.
Along with Disney and my mother, I hold them responsible for my distorted view of reality.
The M&B are quite slim so some I can list as postage £2,75 for 10 but if you're able, amazon is much better as you said. M&B not being particularly collectable I don't think I'd sell that many separately and I am desperately trying to cut down on how much I have to move!
Gonna have a look on the police auction site now ta v much absoluutbeginner and welcome, please do join (although it's not my thread).
I also have a 21 day withdrawal limit because I'm a new seller, if you can get people to give feedback you should be able to access the funds sooner as well.

Pls note, I'm very good at giving advice but this evening has shown that I'm not so good at taking it :/
  • Oh just one thing I forgot to add - before you can bid on Bumblebee you have to sign up to Nochex (like Paypal). They also take a random small amount from your bank account and ask you to verify it (funny though, you never get it back!), but I feel it's worth it as you can pick up some real bargains for a few quid.

Hey and welcome t our thread :) How much are you hoping to save before you go to Spain? My original sum that I needed was £400 by mid August and I'm really thinking that's not going to happen but I may make about £300 which is great considering it's all from the comfort of my own home!

Please do use my referral links for dooyoo and ciao and if you have any questions about it just ask!

I did £5 of freelance work last night! Rubbish sum of money but it's was only for 10 minutes worth of work so I can't complain! So yesterday I made quite a lot! £85 in total from the craft sale and the freelance and some from dooyoo/ciao!

I have about 20 bin bags of things that can all go for a car boot sale but i'm TOO LAZY to do it myself! I just can't be bothered to stand in a field for hours... plus it's a childcare issue so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it all! I've listed all items I think will sell on amazon/ebay but there's still loads left!
  • Thanks lorrie, I tried to use the links you'd published in your previous posting but the website said they were out of date. I managed to register for dooyoo, but not ciao, so if you'd like to post an up-to-date link I will happily join via you!
Bonus: This morning I emptied my coin-jar - omg £26 . Went straight to the bank and deposited the money before I spent it. Paid for my Bumblebee auction wins (£17) so left with a .... er, um ... £9.
My goal is at least £200 for the plane tickets, but of course the closer you get to departure date the more expensive they are.
Hey, it's free insertion fees on ebay this Saturday and Sunday, so my Bumblebee stuff will be going on there, despite my grumbles with Paypal withholding my money.

Hi Loz/Foz, have you thought about 'hiring' someone to do the bootsale for you on a commission basis ie 10% of what they sale they keep or so on? If you're gonna just bin everything otherwise it might be worth a go.

Hello all, I wonder if I can still join your circle? I just finished reading the whole thread and it really struck a cord with me- I m desperatly trying to save £ 660 for our holiday by December. I'm selling stuff on e-bay (with small sucess), trying to do carboot sales (with even less success) and stuffing every spare coins I have into a piggy bank (that my family keep emptying when I turn my back!!!). So far I have made £70 on e-bay basically selling clothing and books some for pennies but its still better than nothing. I was really disheartend when I came accross your thread and it made me reallise that there are other people out there who are in the same situ as me.
PS- I have a full time job in an office and a part time job waitressing at the weekends that's only covers our outgoings (high mortgage/ loan etc payments) so I really need this to be able to afford a holiday next year!
Anyway thank you for your great ideas and encouragments - I think I will give a try amazon -it's seems like a better place to sell my books (craft / popular) and I will hope to a carbooty tomorrow morning if the weather permits ( living in N Ireland our summers are ususally a washout! or as a local joke goes- there ar only two seasons in Ireland- wet + wet and cold. Get it?) I will let you know as how the weekend gone on Monday. ( I hope to make at least £30- bootsale starts at 6:00AM!)
Have a great and fruitfull weekend all!!!

  • Thanks for the link fozzeh, will join up tonight.
Welcome coco, the collective energy here in this thread is so positive you can't help but be successful.
Since I joined yesterday I have had such luck. Apart from the fortune (for me) in the coin jar (coco, leave a few pennies in the piggy bank to fool the family, hide the rest in the toe of one of your boots in the back of the wardrobe, and don't tell anyone!). This afternoon a gent I did a typing job for a few months ago, and who I thought had fallen of the edge of the world, suddenly pitched up at my door with the £40 he owed me!
Running total is now £49. Come ooooonn!!
