£600 is low for rent? if you are paying more then you are being financially raped.

my sis pays £400 a month for house share, small bedroom. Earlsfield.

I've seen places for 1k a month lmao

What nut would pay such prices. Just for a box.

Nutjobs who want/need more than a "small bedroom"?

There are plenty of us out there, true enough almost everyone in the capital simply must have mental health problems :rotfl:
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...

Exactly - £400 for a small bedroom in a place not on the tube network.

£600 for a studio is about the going rate.

You might want to use less offensive language in your analogy as well...:o

Grow thicker skin lol If you live in London you will hear/see worse than my post.

    £400 is fair.

My friend lived in Vauxhall so I think I'd ask her to come look at places with me as I have heard similar to what you've said. Worrys me how close to Brixton it is too. What areas of Vauxhall would you avoid? Like is everywhere south Vauxhall bad or the east.etc.

I'm trying to not get a studio but I know its probable. My only concern with a studio is Remus (my cat) will hate being trapped in one room and may be naughty because of it. One reason why a shared might be better. Theres so many pro's and con's to living alone or shared, its hard to decide! Kinda leaving cost to that decision now.

    Sorry I missed this :)

I think you are getting rather het up, London is london, to an extent as compared to most other places in the UK it is "dodgy" Could that be "ethnic diversity", the scruffiness, binbags piled up and litter on the road ( problem in every borough in my view) There is a lot of homlessness, people with mental health problems, drink problems, and teenage gangs. These probs exist everywhere, and you cant escape them without being in a Zone 1 apartment block but still the homeless people and rubbish situation wont be dramatically better. And why should you, its oK, it isnt DANGEROUS, just scruffy. Its easy for me to say this though I been here 10 years and not a single dodgy thing has happened to me or anyone I know aside from a story I know from someone who lived Streatham/ Brixton and I probably wouldnt choose there, but then again I said Id never live here, but I am and I love it!

Vauxhall is no different to elephant & castle, its a 10 min walk from my place to Vauxhall interchange- apart from the Vauxhall bit which borders the houses of parliament & that side of the road. Your chances of being able to afford that are slim lets say!

If your freind is happy with vauxhall, then every area we have mentioned between us will be the same if not better.

You need to come down and see how you feel, can you get a budget coach, an A-z and a travel card and just wander?

Earlsfield has a train about every 5 minutes and more in rush hour. It's in Zone 2.

The main problem is getting yourself on a train after about 7.30am in the morning as loads of people commute from further away and change at Clapham Junction.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)

    Spot on!

Literally sardines at this time in the morning.

I just don't think people should use words like that without thinking about where the word actually comes from.

Don't worry...my London Skin is more than thick enough...;)

I know Earlsfield has a fairly good train service - but you need to be near the station to make it worthwhile - and then you have to travel across London...it's all the little things that need to be weighed up. (My friend lived in Earlsfield, but was a 15 minute walk from the station which wasn't nice when it was dark at night.)

It's actually okay at night. One big main road well lit up. There is a small Sainsbury's there too near the station. Quick shop after work.

I've paid £390 big room in Kingston, £420 massive room in Crouch End, £360 big room in Wood Green, £350 average room in Devons Rd and £375 in Bow.
I wouldn't go much over £450 for a share plus it would include all/most bills.

I've viewed rooms for £250 that can only fit a single matress in. Think of a box room, single matress width but average length
