It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

Just read another thread that reminded me of this one. IRD Homes seem to have gone a bit quiet recently. That must be due to their excellent service :)

Heavens forbid that I bump this thread by accident, but I just did a Companies House search on Sunil Dhown's old firm: IRD Homes (a Letting Agency) & unless I am mistaken, it looks like it has been DORMANT for 2010 ???

I am no Tax Expert (or any other sort of Expert), but can a company file Dormant Accounts when they are still trading ?? - it might be able to, tax law is a little odd.

Here is a Cut & Paste from Companies House - Public Records - (please note it DOES mention Sunil Dhown AND IRD Homes - sorry Sunil - on second thoughts, I fully retract that apology)

    Name & Registered Office:
    IRD HOMES (UK) LIMITED
    7 SLOANE COURT
    28 THE GROVE
    ISLEWORTH
    MIDDLESEX
    TW7 4JU
    Company No. 06572640

    Status: Active
    Date of Incorporation: 22/04/2008

    Country of Origin: United Kingdom
    Company Type: Private Limited Company
    Nature of Business (SIC(03)):
    7031 - Real estate agencies
    Accounting Reference Date: 30/04
Last Accounts Made Up To: 30/04/2010 (DORMANT)
    Next Accounts Due: 31/01/2012
Last Return Made Up To: 22/04/2010
    Next Return Due: 20/05/2011 OVERDUE
    Last Members List: 22/04/2010

AA 21/04/2011 ACCOUNTS OF DORMANT COMPANY MADE UP TO 30/04/10

    "

Companies House also mentions that officially Sunil Dhown is no longer a Director of IRD Homes - a Letting Agency

    "
288b 09/06/2009 APPOINTMENT TERMINATED DIRECTOR SUNIL DHOWN
    "

If there is anyone out there that can confirm IRD Homes were trading in 2010, perhaps HMRC/Companies House would like to know IF there has been an "oversight" in Filing their Return?

    Much Love,

It really doesn't pay to annoy the internet.

/sigh I had to go google what a dormant company was didnt i...
"1. What is a dormant company?

A company is dormant if it has had no 'significant accounting transactions' during the accounting period. A significant accounting transaction is one which the company should enter in its accounting records.

When determining whether a company is dormant you can disregard the following transactions:

    payment for shares taken by subscribers to the memorandum of association;
fees paid to the Registrar of Companies for a change of company name, the re-registration of a company and filing annual returns; and
payment of a civil penalty for late filing of accounts.
    "
Lets us then hope IRD Homes (a Letting Agency) REALLY was Dormant that year.

I hope they aren't just trading as something else. They had a real reputation.

  • Well I had never heard of this company until I stumbled on the opening post and ensuing 36 pages

They say there's no such thing as bad publicity. Having spent 5 minutes with Mr Google, I'm not so sure this is the case here :rotfl:
