Geoff
that is pure MSE magic.
On Tuesday (06/07/2010) a retraction appeared on the popular MoneySavingExpert forum written by a former Tenant. They had previously used the forum to tell their story about their time renting from Sunil Dhown and his company, IRD Homes. Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes let properties in Kingston upon Thames, specifically in Magnum House, 164 and 170 London Road, KT2 and Lapidge House, Coombe Road, KT2.
It seems the Tenant had been requested by Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes' lawyers to remove the 'offending' thread (reproduced here) due to 'distress' caused to Sunil Dhown. The Tenant was compelled by Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes to issue a retraction, despite the fact the original thread had been removed. The retraction, presumably written by Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes' lawyer, did not specifically deny the allegations in the original post, only citing 'distress' as the reason for its removal.
What Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes had not bargained for by requiring a retraction was the backlash that followed. Fair minded individuals from the forum, many of them Landlords themselves, have responded to the retraction with disdain and a healthy dose of sarcasm. The retraction Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes had requested has only served to damage the company's already shattered reputation further.
This is a lesson to Sunil Dhown, IRD Homes and their solicitors who would do well to take the advice provided by one contributor to the thread:
"Fair enough, Mr Dhown's solicitors want you to suffer your experiences as Mr Dhown's tenant in silence.
Perhaps Mr Dhown should set an example and suffer reports of his tenants' experiences in silence."

Ive recopied the whole article in full, just in case SUNHIL DHOWN, SUNNY SHOWN RICHARD EBLY or any of the IRD HOMES colleagues choose to maybe threaten, intimidate, bribe, or generally suggest in some way that KINGSTON PEOPLE website ( https://www.kingstonpeople.co.uk )
remove any link in the future.
Not that I assume would of course, that seems most unlikely. ( innit) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...

Hi folks...
I have just had my living room walls plastered, what type of paint would you suggest for a mist coat?

Picture the scene... I've arrived in Kingston and am an undergraduate / postgraduate / phd / mature student looking for a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or more bedroom property, flat or houseshare in the area, close to the university.
I am delighted to find that IRD properties rents reasonably priced properties in the area, varying from cheap properties, to luxury properties and only increases the rent after months of living there, so no immediate hikes at the start of your fixed term, just somewhere in the middle.
Gosh, I'd think all my Birthdays had come at once. The future's certainly Sunny!0 -
Another Sunny day. I wonder if it's Sunny Dhown Kingston?0

I know you mentioned property, flats houseshares
But would you think IRD LETTINGS also let out luxury ( or even just bog-standard) APARTMENTS? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I'm very confused. I started reading this post with no idea what it was about. The title 'Retraction' should really be expanded to include the name of the obviously excellent landlord in question: Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes.
But maybe Sunil Dhown and IRD Homes do not want their names publicised, so prefer it not to be in the title?0
