My partner did the weekly shop in a busy Asda this morning which is stressful enough with an 2 children, the youngest being only 16 weeks old.
She thought the bill of £222 was a bit on the high side, it's usually around the £125 mark, with another £75 spent in Sainsburys.
There were some exceptional items such as toiletries etc. but as I said before she had enough on her mind at the time.
We don't normally check our receipts but asked me to check when I arrived home from work.
There was an error as we were charged £77 for a turkey roast we didn't even buy!
Phoned the store to be told "it must be a rogue" item.
I am disgusted and will write a letter of complaint. Yet another trip to a busy store to get the card refunded.

I have been told of these and its supposed to be a test on the cashier to see how observant she is as too what is going through the till. I have had a few £125 tin of beans or a £90 bit of ham.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0

Oh dear, that's not good! I'm sorry about that and the service you have received. You should write a letter of complaint. I'm not exactly sure who to write it to, but if you send it to this address you should get somewhere. This is the head office address:
ASDA Stores Limited
Asda House
Southbank
Great Wilson Street
Leeds
LS11 5AD
I've noticed things like this happen before when I've been serving people at my checkout, however, I always check that the item has scanned right (i look at my little screen on the till). This can sometimes happen when the scanner doesn't read a barcode correctly, this could be because it is slightly crumpled up or smudged a tiny bit, sometimes a bit of the code could be missing too. This happens mainly with reduced items, such as bags of salad or cucumbers (in my experience).
Please persue this, this level of service is not acceptable and if this happened in my store I would be deeply ashamed. At Asda we try to maintain a high level of service and when this does not happen the company should be informed of it.
Write to asda house and persue it.

hey you'd be surprised just how much some people do spend a week on their shopping. Many times I've put a few hundred quid worth of food etc through and commented saying "I hope this is for a fortnight" and they've told me it's a weeks shop! God, it's mad how much people spend!

Hey you probs feed your family with good, nutritious (sp??) food. I'd say a lot of the stuff people who spend a few hundred buy is crap! Chocolate, pop, beer, frozen meals. Some people don't even have a piece of fruit in their shopping and they have little kids. It's really bad to see them buying a load of rubbish and knowing that they are gonna stuff their kids full of crap:A I love MSE!!! :A0
