Any termination threads on here?

Morning peeps,

Sadly I'm having a termination on Thursday/Friday. I'm not sure I'd be welcome on the miscarriage support thread so thought I'd see if there are any threads I could join/read for abortion support.

Many thanks
IC x

You could start one, hopefully it wouldn't get overrun by judgemental people. I had an EMT in 2007 and don't feel like I ever really got over it.

You are definately not alone in any case but there are some that are too holy and opinionated to allow fellow MSE'ers to support each other through Termination.

I would suggest starting a support group and if its constructive and you're all aware of the stigma attached by some you can ignore the interruptions and hopefully they'll be dealt with (the bad ones).

Hugs to you in any case.

I had a termination in November 2007 so I know how hard it is. I didn't really talk about it to anyone at the time because it got me too upset. I can talk about it now, but I won't ever forget. Feel free to pm me if you want to chat about it.

Looks like you've started one, there will be those who feel they know best, try to ignore them.

Right then :) Thanks for the suggestion Delain!

Firstly, the reason I am not posting on the miscarriage support thread is that I don't feel that I belong there - this is being done by choice (albeit a sad one) and is not the loss of a desperately wanted pregnancy.

I hope that my thread does not get overun with posters telling me that abortion is murder or is evil etc etc. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I am the one actually in the situation.

Would anyone feel comfortable sharing their experiences? I am due to be having the two lots of drugs on Thursday and Friday and then it's all going to start. I'm a little nervous of what will happen, what it will feel like etc etc.

Whilst I know that everyone is different and no one will have the same experience some idea might be good.

Many thanks for all that contribute in grownup and non judgemental ways!

Whilst I don't agree with abortion as a choice for myself I would never judge anyone who chooses to have one. It is not a choice to be made lightly and you have made the decision on what is best for you. It must have been a very difficult decision to make albeit the right one for yourself.

I don't have any advice on the pills i'm afraid. Just come in to wish you all the best and big hugs to you. x

Icey just to let you know how mine went.

I had the first lot of drugs on the Tuesday and then went back on the Thursday into hospital. Taking the pills wasn't too bad, but once I had taken the first lot, I had the feeling that I couldn't go back and change my mind. I had to go through the process of actually giving birth and whilst I was given some paracetemol, I was still having stomach cramps. The actual giving birth wasn't too hard and the hospital was really lovely about it all. However, I had complications as the placenta wasn't delivered fully and I had to have an operation to clear out the placenta. I did feel very weepy after it all happened and couldn't go back to work (I was due to leave about three weeks after I had the termination, so my doctor just signed me off work for those remaining three weeks).

Although both me and my husband made the decision to have a termination and it was the best decision for us, I did feel bad about it and couldn't stop crying for a while afterwards and any little thing would set me off.

I hope this helps and feel free to ask me any questions. Hope it all goes alright for you.

That is an Early Medical Termination which is the same as I had. I have to say I do respect your decision, whilst the ladies on miscarriage support are wonderful and I don't think any of them would judge, it is best that this has it's own thread and I think they will thank you for that as it shows respect and thoughtfulness of their own situations.

I did find the EMT unpleasant (I know it's not meant to be easy) but it is the natural way for your body as the medication causes a miscarriage at home.

Have the doctors explained what happens to you? If you'd like to know more PM me as I don't want to get graphic on the boards as your thread will end up getting deleted.
