  • Throw me in here.

    Details in Sig.

The estate agents "recommended" solicitors are slowing things down when everyone else has been working like the clappers.

    Good Luck All.

    More progress, finally

We got a huge pile of correspondence from our solicitors. We finally have a copy of the title deeds and information from the vendor so something is happening. They are raising some queries so suppose we will still have to wait for those to come back and obviously none of the searches have come back yet but hopefully soon.

  • I'm getting text messages from mortgage company at each "key stage". Valuation will be done this week, searches have begun.

    Exciting!

  • OK we've got the Homebuyers report done and it mentioned the following.

It has in the summary 'areas requiring further investigation' and says that we should get the electrics and gas installation checked by the relevent people. Is this just standard to cover themselves or do we really need to get things checked before we agree contracts? Has anyone else had this mentioned in their reports?

The house is a 1950s ex local authority house but in pretty good condition considering.

I don't mind getting it done it's just that we haven't got too much spare cash floating about so if it's just a standard statement then I'll worry about it once we're actually in the property.

Have read that getting the electricity etc checked off by someone else is pretty standard, but perhaps contact your surveyor and ask he they had any particular concerns.

Our property was built in the early 60's so it will be interesting to see what comes up in ours
  • The property I am buying (well hopfully but thats another story) is built 1955.

Those things came up in my survey.

Going to get the gas and boiler serviced as soon as I get the keys. the boiler in the property is from the 1980's so will need replacing in the short term (up to 5 years) so if the worst comes to worse i'll just replace it.
  • Got my solicitor instructed and my mortgage arranged pending me sending in proof of identity and salary. Looks like everything's going ahead fairly smoothly (just waiting for the big disaster to strike...)
Finally a happy home (and mortgage) owner...

At long last 2 days short of a month it has taken, but the mortgage offer arrived this morning and everything is A1.

Still have no idea when things will happen - have to speak to my solicotor.
