Right I'm joining in too!!
Us: FTB - decided we needed to do it now or never - 5% deposit
Property: OTM for £130,000, offered £125,000 - accepted (1st September 2006)
Mortgage: Sent off the application via our broker 4th September - been told that we should have confirmation this week.
Solicitor: Instructed Conveyancing Warehouse (see Dfarry) on 1st September - Waiting for the agreement to come in the post. Was sent an e-mail confirming the instruction on 1st September.
Vendor: Emigrating to Oz so no chain beyond them.
Feel like we're in limbo right now as we've had no confirmation of the mortgage and nothing as yet from the solicitor.0 -
I'm running slightly behind. Had my offer accepted today - what's my next step? Should I be finding a solicitor/conveyancer? Contacting a mortgage broker? Both at the same time? It's all so confusing and overwhelming. Finally a happy home (and mortgage) owner...0

I'm also entering the race ;-)
I'm a FTB and the sellers aren't in a chain
Had offer accepted yesterday (5th)..
Have had an AIP off Bank, and will be seeing the broker tomorrow to finalise
Have also booked an appointment for tomorrow to see the solicitor whom I'll be instructing. (The house is leasehold so that's gonna prove interesting ...)
ps. It was almost off before it started, when I was told this morning by the EA the vendors had an increased offer yesterday evening ... told them to get stuffed.. payed off ;-)0 -
Welcome Manchester, iapetus and yak.
iapetus, contact both a broker and a solicitor. The broker will sort the mortgage and then the mortgage company can sort out a surveyor. Some people wait until this comes back before they instruct the solicitor to start the searches that need to be done, although as mine is a fairly new house, I'm getting both the survey and searches done around the same time.
Hope that helps. No one else adding an autosignature? Looks like just me thenLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Oooh I am so glad we have all taken on this challenge.
I feel that I am really behind all of you. We officially started on 9 August, instructed solicitors on 18 August and submitted mortgage application 24 August and to date we don't have anything tangible.
Was on the phone to everyone (solicotor, vendor, HA and mortgage advisor) today and thanks to the poster who suggested keeping on top of them. I will chase up again next week and hopefully we will have progressed.
As there are quite a few of us I am a bit confused (and I don't know how to look at previous posts whilst typing this one) so has anyone actually had their mortgage offer ?0 -
I'm seeing my broker on Friday to confirm my mortgage although have one in principle, will add to my autosignature so you can keep track (hint hint) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm another to add to the list.
I made an offer on a flat 2 weeks ago, it got accepted and I applied for my mortgage straight away. I popped into the Building Society today and was told everything is OK and they sent the mortgage docs out last Friday for me to sign but i've not received them yet
I hope I receive them tomorrow as i'm going to Spain on Friday for a week and I want to get them signed and sent back before I go.
Anyway, my Solicitor has got my search fees so i'll tell her to go ahead and carry out the seaches asap to get things rolling.
£78,000 for a 1 bedroom flat... aaarrrggghhh!!!!!
Good luck everyone, I hope everything runs smoothly. This space is available to rent...0 -
Okay I will add to my autosignature but first I would actually like something to add.

Sounds like solid advice to me. Contacted London & Country this morning, and will hear back from them with some possible mortgages this afternoon. Waiting to hear back from the first solicitor, will try and dig out some more at work this morning.
Autosig is on the way...izoomzoom wrote:I feel that I am really behind all of you. We officially started on 9 August, instructed solicitors on 18 August and submitted mortgage application 24 August and to date we don't have anything tangible.
Don't worry - you're way ahead of me. I started with my offer being accepted yesterday, and still have no solicitors or mortgage agreement. And I get thrown out of my rental accommodation in the second week of October.Got a nasty feeling I'm going to need to shift all my worldly belongings into storage for a few weeks to make this work out...

Well after a nightmare day on Tuesday we are no back on track..
Applied for full mortgage yesterday which was approved, so waiting for the papers to sign.
Have received papers from solicitor asking for the money for searches, but am going to wait until the homebuyers report is done until i do that, which is hopefully next week !
Offer Accepted : Wed 30th Aug.
Instructed Solicitor & Broker : 31st Aug.
Full Mortgage Application Done: 6th Sept.
Ps> Im trying to get a sig...test to see if its working!0
