Bruno - You have probably considered this....
*Batch cooking and freezing, reduces cooking times for the future, and OH can just reheat and eat.
*Babysitter for 1-2 hours a couple of times in the weeks just to catch up on sleep/housework.
*One of my friends LO's seems to never sleep so I have her LO to play every so often so mum can get some sleep. Does OH have friends who may be able to offer this every so often?

Thanks all for comments and advice :)

    To clarify a bit - I'm
    * not expecting doctor involvement to be transformative, if anything I'm worrying about how to get OH to the appointments as she is scared of hospitals, hates appointments with Elijah in tow, and generally if I can't get free to take her she will tend to just not turn up to them. It would still be a bit more peace of mind for me at least though if she does get more regular scans and check-ups!

    * don't think there's anything wrong because she's needing to sleep a lot, just that it is going to be a challenge for her given that during the week she has no opportunity to, so if she needs to that will be very hard on her!

Not doom and gloom at all :) however I do bear in mind that as things stand I do 60% of the cleaning (not that much cleaning is done in total  :() and 80-90% of the cooking already :o and unfortunately given our location launderette would definitely be more hassle than doing laundry at home :p
So definitely part of my concern is how much more can I do without getting overwhelmed on my side/jeopardising job stuff/etc.

Thanks Jillie - unfortunately OH's dad is 5000 miles away, and my mum is suffering from some mobility problems meaning she can't take E out even if OH wanted her to, plus even visiting for her is cab+tube+train+cab each way.
We've talked about nursery and still were intending it in a year, but neither of us want it really at this age - we are signed up for a playgroup/nursery thing (where parents stay around a lot of the time) for one morning a week from Sep - better than nothing but not going to really change things!

I think we might end up looking more at some home help/CM/nursery as a temporary measure in a few weeks if things keep getting harder for her.

Anyway, I feel bad moaning about what is fundamentally pretty minor and with nothing serious having gone wrong as yet, when others of you are getting up 6 times a night, having chicken pox or dealing with the deaths of loved ones, etc!

Apparently through a work scheme I get, among other things, 'approximately' 2% cashback on eBay purchases. Should I be excited? Is there some devious way to exploit this, does anyone reckon?

This is a bit random, but I just thought about it reading your post about not feeling ready to send E to nursery.

When I go back to work we are lucky enough that OH, MIL and my Mum will have H while I am there, however it is an hours travel each way for both my Mum and MIL. There will be times when there is an overlap of an hour or two where I'm not quite home, but OH has to leave for work so I advertised on netmums for a babysitter/childminder on an ad hoc basis. I've had a lovely reply from a Midwifery student (since we are very near a big maternity) hospital who is looking for some babysitting work, can do afternoons as well as evenings and can provide good references and BRB checked. Might this be the kind of person who could help your OH? Just someone to call upon every now and then, and the midwifery link makes her kind of one up from a standard babysitter? She could even come while your OH was in the house having a nap? Just a thought.

Becles- that is so funny about your Dad!

Set up a second eBay account and sell yourself something for a million pounds.

    (((hugs))) bruno and mrs bruno

hope you can get someone to help you out.

i so think a CM/nursery would be beneficial, even for getting to those appointments. mine were always the same day at the hospital, hopefully yours will be too.

That IT guy is rather strange, he's been emailing me all day and he's harsh!! And also a little arrogant!

Beenie, you do attract them don't you :rotfl:

Lady - Hugs, very sorry for your loss.

Chez WM is totally zombified due to one screaming, red hot teething non-sleeping baby. Alex has been a nightmare. Inconsolable screaming since Saturday afternoon, resulting in mummy sitting at work, with matchstick propped eyes. He is at ILS today, and if they dare to say he hasn't murmered all day again, i will SCREAM.

Got Joe a bike, and hate to say it but he is rubbish :rotfl:. Horrible mummy I know. OH took him out Saturday morning and gave it up as a bad job, Patience much? I tried again on Saturday pm and actually took time to explain using ball of feet, using bottom to balance etc. And he did better with me. Mummy is good teacher and daddy is rubbish :D. We tried again yesterday and he seems to have got the hang of pedaling. Now need to work on Steering, stopping and starting off. Gonna be a long, long week.........

    Hi guys,

I'm a newbie to this forum and was hoping to get some advice around the subject of giving secondary school children careers advice. I am a recently qualified teach and have noticed we have a few resources at our school although many seem to be dated, what's everyones thoughts on current careers provision within our secondary schools? Some of my students and friends who are parents have asked me recently about the best way to help them or their children decide on a future possible career in preparation of choosing GCSE's, Diplomas/A Levels. I've looked online and found some resources but was hoping the members of this forum could possibly share any resources or just their general view around the subject?

you're in the right forum, but you would be best to set this up as a seperate thread/conversation

you will get more responses hopefully that way :)
