Just put some thoughts down, I know it may feel like you've hit rock bottom, but honestly you've put the best footward and everyone will help.xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Hi admingirl and welcomeHi - I have just joined today and am in virtually the same situation except a soon to be ex who pays zero. Have learnt some things myself from reading these replies. I, too, feel very embarrassed & tearful especially when ex stopped paying a loan and my car was reposessed (loan was in his name). Do I start a new thread if i want more help myself? How do you add those bits and amounts at the bottom? Sorry, not been on forums before and confidence is zilch. Not in a nice place at the moment but reading all your replies has given me some hope too!
I will have to stop my ppi's too. Thanks and good luck.
Don't worry, you will get tons of support here and soon find your way around the forums. There's a lot of help to be had - you've come to the right place. I'm so sorry to hear things have gone badly for you, we'll try to help.
Now to try to answer your questions:
Yes, do start your own thread. Someone will be able to direct you to the SOA (Statement of Affairs) link, which I think is one of the stickies at the top of this forum. Filling one of these in (should you wish to) will enable people to work out what can be done for your finances. There's always a way forward, and it helps to have other people's insights!
To add the bits and pieces to your signature, look towards the top of the page and you'll see 'User CP' on the green bar. If you click on there you'll find (on the left) a heading 'Edit signature'. If you go in there you can write up whatever details you wish, though really long signatures will be asked to shorten them. I think they slow the forums up or something. People get ingenious about what they can fit in, though!
Best of luck and have some hugs to be getting on with - I hope you can get some sleep tonight and in the morning there'll be plenty of people around to help.
Look after yourself hun.
Edit: I think this is the link you need.Miggy

Hi
I am glad to read that some good things are happening for you.
Don't feel bad about being in debt - I'm sure many of the mums at the school gates are living above their means - they just don't realise it yet.
Re your internet and landline - there are some good cheap deals out there. If you phone your current internet supplier and ask for your MAC number and tell them that you want to move to a better deal they will move heaven and earth to keep you - don't pay more than £23 for landline (calls and line) and internet together.
As for as your mobile phone contract is concerned - stop paying. Tell the company (I think best to write to their head office) that you cannot afford it and would like to be released from the contract and move onto PAYG. Tel them exactly what you have said here - that you are struggling to eat and pay the essential bills. Cancel any DD before you write and only pay for any calls made after you cancel - not an ealry termination charge. These companies aren't daft - they won't take you to court if they can't get their money. Don't bother to talk to one of the kids in the shop or on the customer service lines - they have no authority.
Don't worry about CCCS being delayed - they are probably very busy right now. You could ring them if you have a problem - they are really good - I know, I've been with them for 3 months now.

I loved tinned spaghetti too and my Mum used to make a lovely spaghetti 'pie' from a tine of spaghetti which served the whole family.
I so agree with moo2moo's post. I'm in my 60s now and my mum died nearly 20 years ago but I have treasured memories of all the things we did together on very little money: going to the park to see the squirrels, gathering cobnuts and blackberries, all kinds of Blue Peter type things (my favourites were making paper beads and papier mache bowls and flowers from home-made clay), making biscuits, jelly and ice cream and singing together. I remember these far better and with much more happiness than I remember any presents I was given when we had more money.
I'm so happy to see you're feeling more positive and good things are beginning to happen, miserablemum. I was so touched by your first post.
Up and attem, girl. Bless you and good luck.0 -
well done so far.. think a change of username will be needed soon though..0

Hi admin girl.. start your own thread and fill in the SOA from the sticky0 -
Thanks - will start my own thread soonest. Like miserablemum, I find a big pick me up is my family (small as it is). Today it was passing the bike theory test - all financed by himself, and getting brown belt in judo. What i would do without him & friends- they do help. I found telling my closest friends a big help, now they understand why I can't always go out and they don't insist but come round instead. Such a relief and not as painful as I thought it would be. So, please if there is someone close who you can talk to, do so, hopefully like my friends they won't judge you harshly. Good luck, lots of hugs and smiles help the day go by a bit better. It has mine!0

Lovely to have you back, admingirl, and well done to your DS! That's a couple of things to be very proud of: three really, as he financed the test himself

While I don't suppose it was too easy telling your friends, it must be a lot easier now they know and aren't inadvertently making things difficult.
I'm glad you posted again - sometimes people just post once and then I worry about what's happened to them. Looking forward to your thread.

I have joined today too - your post made me sad- I truly believe that there is a solution to every problem - the solution is what you need to focus on - not the problem - you're not in arrears - that's positive! There is help to be had and talking to reputable companies like the CCCS is a perfect start. Take care and try not to let it get to you so badly - I know it's easier said than done - I am in a tricky situtation too. Kind regards, Marti0

Hi MM
Just come accross your thread. I am on my own, have a lovely 7 yr old dd. Am s/e, disabled unable to use my left arm and I dont know what goes in my tea bags but frequently tripping up or falling occasionally , dh was murdered when dd was 10 months old. I know how desparate you must feel at times, but my df journey has taught me so much and continues to do so. I have found great help from a couple of charities , one of which offers support to single parents. Maybe theres one in your area. In fact dd and I are going away in a couple of weeks for a 4 day break with the single parent charity which I wouldn't be able to afford otherwise, and will give us both some restbite from the daily pressure of work etc. I am indebted to them for their support and belief in me and dd that I, we can get through this time.
I have found dd has been just as happy going out for picnics, walks along the beach, anything that costs relatively little. Any one I want to thank for something I bake them a cake or biscuits or make a nice pudding. Dd does a lovely drawing to say thank you.We have rediscovered the simple pleasures in life.
I am also on a tight budget and like you have managed to keep everything miraculously up to date and now do not rely on any credit to get by. Its tough, but its not forever, and I want to be strong and focused to get through this. A spending diary has been fantastic, I have been able to cut back my grocery bill significantly.
Most importantly of all, I am learning to keep my mind positive although its fair to say we all have down days. Nothing is the end of the world. If I couldn't pay a bill tom there are always options. There is a book I would highly recommend full of inspiration and showing that so many people come through trying times. Its called Chicken Soup for the Soul, and I would recommend you treat yourself to this or perhaps see if your library has a copy?.
You are not on your own, and keep posting if you can. This site is just fantastic, there are not enough words to describe the light and hope that can be found on it. Take careMy debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
May 2013 £124,080.27= £37,903.50 paid off WOW!!!!! Well done! There is a guardian angel out there! :AI'm visualising success, debt freeness, and happy days!:T0
