I have bad and good days, today after reading the replies I have felt a little more positive.
Santander have offered to take over the Mint debt with interest free credit card for 14 months.
So today, I have sent off the questionaire to both Mint, my A&L/MBNA card and a letter regarding the PPI. I have sent it recorded. Hopefully I can get that back. The questionaires are fairly blank those as I can't remember signing up to it so will that go against me ?
I am going to send a letter asking MBNA to freeze the interest as I am getting nowhere with CCCS as they have not sent the DMP or replied to my post on the ask CCCS a question so maybe they do not want to help ?
The tax man owes me about £500 I think from 2008 so I am going to get onto that.
I have also lost 16lb in two weeks in weight due to the worry, I see that as a bonus !0 -
Children are very resilient little people. They need love, attention and praise. After that nothing much really matters.
Freecycle is a fabulous place for getting outgrown bicycles, clothes, shoes, toys and even furniture from people who no longer require it for a variety of reasons and would rather see it rehomed than thrown in landfill. You would be truly amazed at what is offered up willingly for collection.
Being surrounded by snooty loaded mums is very frustrating and even intimidating but you don't have to be bullied by them. My daughters are spending today making their own thank you gifts for their class teachers. DD2 is making Hama bead hearts (from freecycle) and a card whilst DD1 is making some jewellery and decorating a picture frame both bought for 10p at the school summer fayre. You'd be amazed how many supermarket gifts end up donated to charity by the school staff each year. There are only so many uses for a Worlds Best Teacher mug, when each teacher recieves at least five each year it all gets a bit daft. It truly is the thought that counts and not the cost of the gift, especially when the child has no say in the selection of the item. Its their teacher at the end of the day.
Everyone has bad days, you seem to be having far more than most but you are doing an astounding job. Be proud of what you have achieved so far. You're a very determined lady and you will find a solution that works for you, no matter how long it takes.
Ps. My daughters favourite meal ever is value tinned spaghetti on toast with a poached egg eaten in front of the tv. They'd far prefer that to a roast dinner any day and consider it the ultimate treat rather than a week before payday staple.
I use to love tinned spaghetti ! I am going to order some when I next shop.
I spent £71 on food to last two weeks, am in the second week and not had to top up yet.0 -
Forgot to say, whilst going through my paperwork, I found a voucher for the cinema and took my daughter to see Shrek, this only cost me £4 and I have found just over £20 in Tesco clubcard vouchers, all in date, I had a look at the site and it is worth £80 in days out vouchers so that gives me a few things to do with my daughter over the holiday.
My daughter also found 20p on the floor in the post office whilst sending the PPI letters and she bought a packet of sweets with it for a treat !0 -

Good to hear from you again!
Only got a minute BUT - if you find out of date Tesco vouchers, there's a number somewhere (on their site I think) that you can ring up and get the points re-credited to your clubcard. It works till they are about 2 years out of date, I think. Worth remembering!

Hi MM -
Do you know that you can do your own DMP and I'm sure people who have done this would be able to advise you on here. It is a case of sending letters telling them you have taken advice and setting up reduced payments. If you want to do this please ASK!
Also, before you move MINT to Santander, have you considered checking if the cards are enforceable? This means you check if the agreements are legally valid, if they are not, you can decide not to pay. You will get defaults on your credit file that will stay for 6 years, but paying reduced payments in a DMP could cause this anyway.
With the PPI, I think points are that you did not know it was being charged and also that you were self employed and so could not have claimed anyway
Well done on finding the tesco vouchers!0 -
Hello MM
I dont usually post on these threads but I read them for support and inspiration. I to have been in a situation where money troubles DH BR has made me soooo stressed and feeling sick thought I was going crazy. I went to the GP and poured it all out he couldnt take the money problems away but by taking some medication for a short while I was able to see/think clearly I didnt cry all the time and was more patient with the kids.
I have been lurking on this site for ages and have found I am more comfortable posting on OS I like the support and advice and info that others can share. I am now an avid bargain hunter. I love preowned the girls think that its xmzs when we are given seconhand clothes we always say thankyou and accept the gift and then send all the unwanted clothes to a CS or pass them to someone else. I know that money is necessary to pay the bills but little is needed to enjoy yourselves and have a good family life. My girls are teens now and they still make their own cards its "cool"
Am currently doing more shifts at work to pay for school shoes sept there is always a way it may not be easy but you will get through. Sorry I cant give you any money advice but I was touched by your original post as it really struck a chord big hugs to you both sending you best wishes

Glad to see some positive things happening to you MM.
Did you need to apply for the santander card?
Alot of the banks dismiss PPI appeals out of hand. Over 95% that are passed to the regulator are upheld, so don't get too nervous about it just yet. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi - I have just joined today and am in virtually the same situation except a soon to be ex who pays zero. Have learnt some things myself from reading these replies. I, too, feel very embarrassed & tearful especially when ex stopped paying a loan and my car was reposessed (loan was in his name). Do I start a new thread if i want more help myself? How do you add those bits and amounts at the bottom? Sorry, not been on forums before and confidence is zilch. Not in a nice place at the moment but reading all your replies has given me some hope too!
I will have to stop my ppi's too. Thanks and good luck.0
