I got my vistaprint things today was not expecting it so quick as I got slow delivery. The things look good. Very impressed with the postcards, look really nice. Hopefully I get some people signing up friends to get the free gift. Got some things from ht ready for it. :D

yeah suppose! To be honest im ready to throw towel in so think i'll bow out this thread... dont have the enthusiasm for it anymore! Lifes to short to worry about avon and the half the cr*p that comes with it.

I wish you all the best in the future with your avon businesses and really really hope you all achieve everything you want :)

Thanks for all the help and support last 18 months!

Oh no, J, thought you were doing so well? Certainly you seemed to be working so hard and achieving so much; really thought you were enjoying doing Avon...... You don't achieve PC without a lot of hard work and support from your customers so hope this is just a little dip for you rather than the 'final end'.

    Good luck whatever you decide.

Now starting to wonder if I should give it up too.

    Not you too?!

Got to admit I was feeling the need for a break so I changed directions - rightly or wrongly - and have downsized my customer base by 'converting' some of my best customers into reps and giving them some of my other customers to look after. In some ways it seems like a weight's been lifted. :T Of course, it's affected my sales tremendously but I think it'll help me recharge my batteries.

C13 was definitely not one of the good ones for me but guess that was to be expected with so few customers left.... :rotfl: (Just realised that C13 was my 18th campaign so wonder if instead of a 7 year itch we get a 1 year itch with Avon?)

Not sure what it is MC. Might just be feeling a bit low, and with people saying they are leaving, with all the problems, it is pushing me in the same direction.

But at the moment have so much stock and stuff around the house, would need to do a good declutter first.

I like my customers, most are really nice and I enjoy the chats, I only became a SL for the extra money as I wasn't making it on territory alone.

However, I am thinking about other jobs to make money, so we shall see. Maybe once I am organised again, and don't see avon boxes everywhere and don't have to chase and tell customers I will return their orders as I am not paying for them, I will feel better.

I keep telling everyone I have a part time job, but I am paid by the hour, not a salary. If I don't work, I don't earn, and most of my money is going on childcare, I am not their bank for paying for goods when they feel like it. *heads off to carry on cleaning the house... rant over...*

Have to say sometimes I hate having avon *everywhere* in the house! We got some cheap storage boxes to keep my spare stock & brochures in so the conservatory looks tidier, even if there is brightly coloured huge boxes in there instead lol. And got a 4 drawer stand to keep carrier bags, prepared books, etc in, so everything is a bit tidier. Cost a bit, but not loads, but its so much better as at least everywhere is a bit more presentable. Only problem is when its delivery week - usually we can get them all gone for the weekend (delivery comes on a monday) but with people being away I've still got a lot that I can't take until late next week which is a pain, managed the wedge the boxes with those orders under the little magazine table!

We all have bad times with avon, like any job/business....last year I got well fed up with SL, but now I've got a steady team its great....but had a hard time wanting to be a rep a few weeks ago with all thats gone on family wise.

So far - the good still outweighs the bad, and we really need the money for the wedding...then it'll be the kitchen...then it'll be time we have a kid so it'll help cover my drop in pay....basically I'm stuck doing avon forever lol which is why I stick with it, we have no choice - but if I ever hated it that much I'd look at alternatives. The only thing I can say is - don't go and try a different company thinking it'll be better - it'll have the same problems of customers not paying etc etc, stick with a company that you love their products, not just one you think will earn you the most. If you love a companies products, you know others will too - so if you don't like avons products, try someone else. If its steady money and set hours you need, find another job that hopefully you'll enjoy more than where you've been.

What I'm trying to say is - we all have times we hate that fact that we *have* to do avon, and hate all the bad sides. If you can't see any good in it anymore, do something different as life is to short to hate your job! :D

new to avon got signed up about 3 weeks ago now in 15 mins flat and what she failed to tell me was when the first order needed to be in by - so missed it actually missed it by soooo far - as hadn't even taken the brochures out of their packaging, she e mailed to remind me which I responded to and said I hadn't got my act together to get any orders - did I start from the next campaign for real - and of course no response.
So do I e mail Avon to get my next set of brochures? How long before orders have to go in? etc etc.
What do some of these SL's get paid for?
    Thanks
    Macca

Oh dear, Macca. Where to begin.....

Sounds like your SL is appalling!

You sure it's 3 weeks since? Just wondering if there's any chance you're still within your 14 day cooling off period, in which case you can cancel. Failing that, in your position, I just wouldn't bother putting any orders in. Your current application will, eventually, fall away and you could then get tagged to a SL, who will give you the support you need.

If you don't order anything then you won't be charged any of your start up fee. (£7.50 in your first two campaigns.) And, if you'd like to start again with another SL then there are ways..... ;)

What area are you in and/or PM/post up your postcode. Least then I can tell you what campaign you're on, when your order should be in and when you should get your goods delivered.

Makes me soooo angry when new reps are just 'expected' to know.

Sorry, back to your queries..... Whoever signed you up should provide your books for the first two campaigns. They also should visit you a second time i.e. before your first order is due to be placed online, talk you through the website and how to place your first order. (If you're lucky they'll even double-check your order for you and suggest how to maximise benefits to you/r customers by creative ordering but not sure how common that is.)

Post up any other queries you have and sure you'll get lots of help on here.

Does anyone else have problems with customers always being out when you need to deliver an order? I have been trying to deliver an order for just over £2 to a customer for three weeks! A couple of days into me trying her partner answered and asked me to come back later and then they were out. Today someone else finally answered the door and said she was asleep and to come back between 6-7pm. I have just been back at that time and her husband answered saying he had no money and she was out so could I come back. He said he was expecting her back soon, but I had nowhere to wait so I just gave him the items and said I would come back another time. I am actually considering not dropping the book, because I can’t keep spending all my time walking to her house and back again. I was wondering if anyone else had a system to get round this.
Prevention is better than cure and there are a few points here. The one that jumps at me is that you handed over the goods without getting the money and even for £2 my policy is strictly-no money-no goods.
If you speak to someone ask for a phone number so you can arrange to come back and phone again just before you do so. I have a good customer who is rather forgetful and doesnt keep cash at home in general so Ive arranged that I will call/text her the day before to remind her. I also use the slips you can download from the Avon website under training/downloads.
This saves a lot of time. My feelings are that if you get someone like the one you mention and you leave goods with them there is no hurry for them to pay up either-they sound like timewasters. I think you need to be hard and set the rules-Ive had to turn down a few offers of cheques and now have C.O.D on delivery please printed on the slips I put in with the brochure. My delivery arrived Thursay-delivered Thurs evening with last one this morning(above said lady)-same on the last campaign. If they know what is expected from them they will normally oblige but it does take perseverence and you being firm.

I do think I am lucky with my area-they are on the whole lovely thoughtful people. Do give them a phone no they can contact you-if you are worried about this-a sim card "just for Avon" in a spare mobile will do the trick!

Thanks Lozza. I do have nice pink Avon storage boxes for my paperwork and my Avon freebies and creative ordering. But I have Avon boxes lying around with books, etc. I have a cupboard that I use but find if I stack up too much stuff in it, not just Avon, when I want something it is always at the bottom and a hassle to get everything out. Just need to have a good declutter and get more organised.

No, the jobs I was looking at were not "betterware, Kleenzee," or any of the other ones. They are jobs where I am working for a proper company but from home, and it is part time, but salary based. And I am looking for another job part time - but for me it is location. Where there are decent part time jobs, is too far for me to travel via public transport and childcare. Still looking for a local nursery that is open all day for DS. All the local ones all do part time hours, and only certain days.

I never knew this part would be so hard. If my old company hadn't moved to the suburbs of nowhere, I would still have a very good salaried job, and local, and not be in the predicament I am. How inconsiderate of them! LOL.
