I do think tolerance and patience would be helpful.
You were told on the first page that you weren't losing a weeks pay and it was explained to you why but you were quite insistent that you were correct and didn't think to apologise to people that had helped and were quite right all along.
Letters were issued ages ago to IS and IB claimants advising that this would be happening and even now you have a few weeks to put some money aside for the week - or take the loan on offer.
Or it has also been suggested that you could ask for weekly payments if it is going to cause you severe hardship.
You sound quite indignant that how dare they change the payment schedule...like many others, whether on benefits or not, finances for one reason or another have to have an overhaul.0 -

I only received the letter today and that was the first I have heard about it.0 -
Why are people being so rude and unkind on here?? Surely everyone is a stranger and everyone deserves respect? As this is a section about benefits, a lot of us will be on them. Do you think we need to be reminded about how the tax payer is keeping us?? I can't stand how people look down on those who are forced to live on benefits. Do you think anybody enjoys it?
Why can't people just give advice on what was asked and not get personal about "faking when seeing a dr" or "having tax payers supporting her family". Does she really deserve to be spoken to like a lump of dirt?0 -

Thanks Kezza but to honest I am leaving this site and have informed them of the reasons why.
Only a few people truly know what I am going through.
Good luck with your problems.:)0 -
op, im sorry if you thought i was rude, you're right, i didnt consider that your cognitive processes might affect the way you comprehend information, and so i was increasingly frustrated with your insistence that the money was being lost or stolen from you despite what was being explained.
i do understand that its going to be tight managing the money for that week, i havent disputed that, however thats not what you opened the thread for AND you are being offered a loan to help you, you should be ok
that said, like the others have mentiond there should have been lots of information coming to you about this change in payment dates and i would suggest that although its difficult, you need to stay on top of the payment dates and amounts and the periods they cover in case of further disruption simply to understand your own entitlement.
in addition, remember that you should receive child benefit up until a child is 19 if they are in full time education0 -

No, I didn't think you were being particularly rude. It was my fault, I couldn't comprehend the in arrears part and did honestly think I was losing a week's money, at first. Once I understood how it was worked out, I thanked people for helping me comprehend it.
Honestly, when I got that letter yesterday, that is the first I had heard about any changes but looks like I will have to keep up to date on things and now stay on this site.
I am positive that child benefit/CTC ends at 18 if the child is going to University. You only receive the benefits if the child retakes their 'A' levels and carries on in full-time education until 19 (that doesn't include University though).
I will now check out the above too.

No, just checked on the government's website and you can actually receive payment for a child, well adult by this time until they are 20 years old but not if they are doing the following type of education:-
Courses that don't count for Child Benefit
We can't pay Child Benefit if your child is doing an 'advanced' education course. Examples of advanced education courses include:
a degree
Diploma of Higher Education (DHE)
NVQ level 4 or above
BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND)
teacher training

Same thing Jenner, can only get CTC if in receipt of Child Benefit, that is why I was panicking even more. Daughter is actively looking for a Summer job, going into shops, bars, restaurants etc. and leaving her CV with various companies but is really struggling to find any work.
Fingers crossed that she manages to find work.
