They did this a while back to IS claiments.
They offered a loan, but as they gave plenty of notice ( as they have to you) i put a few pounds away each week to cover the week that the change happened.
Im sure you could manage that surely?
If not then take the loan and repay it.:)0 -
Speak to the DWP, you are supposed to be allowed to stay on weekly if bi weekly will cause you hardship.
Your DLA can also be paid weekly another poster has said here but for me it makes sense to get it 4 weekly to allow me to budget monthly easier.
My spinal injury was in `93 and I was offered several payment options at the time went on IB/DLA but times change and most other benefits have already changed to bi weekly or 4 weekly as for DLA and most people cope, if you cant talk to them and explain your particular cercumstances because we are all diffrent and manage our money differently.
I hope you get it sorted out soon.0 -

11/08/10 Normal Weekly payment
18/08/10 1 day's payment (because switching payment date from Wed to Thursday
26/08/10 Fortnightly payment
09/09/10 Fortnightly payment
and so on...as you can see I only get 1 day's payment for the week 18th August. This will not effect just me but everyone who receives IB on a weekly basis.
The ONLY thing I can do is accept the loan and try to budget for the repayments BUT it still doesn't mean it is right!
You are not actually losing a weeks money, it is just there will be a delay in you receiving it.0 -
Wow, I'm shocked that someone can be so stupid, and saying that a weeks money is being lost is stupid.
And like DMG stated, this is the way it is going, deal with it and either take the loan or budget until the fortnightly payment, covering the same period that two weekly payments would cover, is paid.
There is no loss of money.0 -

Thank you Sunnyone, I am going to telephone them tomorrow because after speaking to my brother (who is a solicitor) they are making me live on lower than the legal entitlement for the week of 18th August.
People don't seem to understand that the payment on the 26th of August, is for the following two weeks, so I will always be missing that week and even when I retire, they will not pay me IB and my pension together ( for one week).
I honestly cannot remember if I was offered any other payment choice apart from weekly but like you it was mid 90s, when I suffered my spinal injury.

but you just said that they are paying you 2 weekly, which is arrears, so how can the payment on 26th august, be for the following two weeks if they are paying in arrears, think about it, its for the week of the 18th and the week of the 26th
how would you manage if you were able to work and got your money at the end of the month that you're working in like every one in the country???0 -

I thought you were being paid in arrears? So the payment on 26th August would be for the preceeding 2 weeks, not the following two.
Or am I misunderstanding? (not uncommon nowadays
)
Posted same time as above, doh.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -

The payment on the 26th of August is for :- 26th August and 2nd September
Next payment is 9th September for that week and 16th September and so on.0 -

You IB has always been paid in arrears -therefore your payment on 18/8/10 is for 12/8/10 only- one day.
The payment on 26/8/10 is NOT "for the following 2 weeks" - but for the last 2 weeks from 13/8/10 to 26/8/10.0 -
so its not in arrears then?
i think you've got this wrong, i suspect the fortnightly payments are for one week in advance and one in arrears, there isnt any way you would lose a weeks money because they are changing the payment day0
