I thought you were being paid in arrears? So the payment on 26th August would be for the preceeding 2 weeks, not the following two.

Or am I misunderstanding? (not uncommon nowadays :o)

Posted same time as above, doh.

Sorry, I am unsure if they are paying me in arrears or what...maybe, that is my mistake. All I know is that they are switching me from weekly to fortnightly and my money will be paid as follows:-

11th August - Normal money on a Wednesday

18th August - One days money because changing payment day to a Thursday

    26th August - 2 weeks money for 26th August and 2nd September

9th September - 2 weeks money for 9th September and 16th September and so on.

Basically, for the week of 18th August, I receive one day's money ONLy and that is because they are changing payment day from a Wednesday to Thursday.

I presume I am being paid in arrears but no idea, need to telephone them tomorrow now.

Thank you Sunnyone, I am going to telephone them tomorrow because after speaking to my brother (who is a solicitor) they are making me live on lower than the legal entitlement for the week of 18th August.

People don't seem to understand that the payment on the 26th of August, is for the following two weeks, so I will always be missing that week and even when I retire, they will not pay me IB and my pension together ( for one week).

No, YOU don't understand the difference between advance and arrears

The payment on 26th August if for the 2 week period commencing 18 August. The next payment on the 9th Sep is to cover the period commencing 2 Sept.

You've already been told that IB is paid in arrears

For the week of the 18th August, you will get the money in the payment on 26 August..hence why they have offered an interest free loan.

Frankly they could have left you up the proverbial and told you that you had plenty notice to budget accordingly

But her brother is a solicitor so of course she's right and everyone else is wrong. :rotfl:

well if you're presuming you're being paid in arrears then your dates dont add up, if you are being paid in arrears (that means being paid after the event) then your money for 26th aug and 9th sep will NOT be for the dates you have stated above, as these would mean the money is in advance.

im sorry to sound rude but this is really basic stuff, how come you cant work this out??

You IB has always been paid in arrears -therefore your payment on 18/8/10 is for 12/8/10 only- one day.
The payment on 26/8/10 is NOT "for the following 2 weeks" - but for the last 2 weeks from 13/8/10 to 26/8/10.

OK, I understand this now but in money terms it means that I have to live on 8 days money from 11th August - 26th August.

So, if I am paid in arrears or not is irrelevant to me because the Government are forcing me to live on 8 days money over a 15 day period.

THAT'S WHY THEY'VE OFFERED YOU THE LOAN!!!!

I have some sympathy - My DLA used to be paid fortnightly with my IB. The they changed to to 4 weekly which meant that I had one payment that was for one week only, instead of two, and then I had to wait four weeks for the next payment. It was difficult to budget that month, because I had money coming in later than normal

    BUT

Over the calendar month, my money was the same, it just came in later.

I think you will find that this is the same for you.

Unfortunately the fact is that the government is entitled to do this, so you just have to budget or accept the offer of the loan, unless you fall into one of the categories that remain entitled to weekly payments.

I work out how much money I have to live on per week and the way the Government have introduced this change means that I will have to live on 8 days money over a 15 day period.

To be honest, I am not worried if it is paid in arrears or not, I am talking about money in my hand...how much I have to live on and survive to support my family!
